This is the area where the Trio grew up. Virule, Rufio, and Melody lived in alleyways in large boxes for a time. Whenever an abandoned house became available, they would move in there and eat what food they could steal. Blankets were rare, but the three of them got by however they could. This is where they grew up, and this is where they were separated. It was in this location that Rufio tracked his brother. Virule had used the Queen of Aegis to lure Rufio to him in the Slums, to the first house they had ever lived in. Right before his brother's eyes, Virule slit the Queen's throat and assaulted his brother. Melody arrived just in time to see Virule stab Rufio through his chest, striking his heart. Without Melody's interference and the realization of who she truly was: a Princess of Heart, Rufio would surely have lost himself in that moment. Heartless or Nobody, neither was to be the fate for good Rufio. Instead he was sent to the Land of Departure while she took the rest of the darkness into herself and fainted. When Virule went to her, she faded from his arms. It was almost like the darkness took her away. This was the event that would change the Trio forever.
The Slums themselves are a dirty, horrible place to live. It is a place of poverty, the buildings are in disrepair, and the people are struggling to live. It's best to be careful when wandering the Slums as it is rampant with disease, famine, thievery, and murder. The Guild members would probably get along really well here, but for the Protega goodie-goodies, this will be a highly dangerous place.
Both gangs: the Crestfallen and the Black Star are in a constant feud over who owns this territory. At the moment, 3/4 of the Slums belong to the Crestfallen and the remainder belongs to the Black Star. The Crestfallen do their best to take care of the people in the Slums, but both gangs have differing views on how to help the poor folk of the kingdom. The King knows about the suffering his people endure, and he has tried time and time again to help them, but with the gangs feuding in the area, there isn't much that his knights can do. When their guardian Rufio was struck down by his own brother, things in the Slums became so much worse.
