User Image The day was dreary to say the least, but it fit Cicero's mood perfectly. The letter from his father earlier that morning had sent him into a dark gloom that he couldn't quite shake. He wasn't sure what he expected, after all, especially with an important holiday coming up. The letter had still come as a blow though, leaving Cicero feeling unwanted. Even his own parents didn't want him around and now he was stuck at school over the long holiday weekend. Many of the students had already gone home or were in the midst of planning their own celebrations. It's not like Cicero cared about that overly much...at least, that's what he told himself. Being a bookworm in the dusty library was not conducive for making friends.

So, in the hopes of trying to counteract his disappointment, Cicero had taken himself into town to visit one of his favorite shops. He frequented the apothecary more often than another as it suited most of his needs. The trim, slightly angled walls of the building squashed between two others always gave Cicero a small smile. It looked how he felt so it always gave him an odd sense of kinship. Inside the store was even better. Despite the low lighting and dingy feel of the place, there were treasures to be found, ranging from simply daisy chains to rare dragon fangs. Thankfully, Cicero's potions usually consisted of the mid range priced ingredients so they were always easy to obtain. Today though, he wanted to splurge. He'd gotten a letter through his monthly subscription that the shop owner had obtained some highly volatile Peruvian powder. It was just the item Cicero had been saving up for.

Cicero took his time perusing the shelves though. Going over the more interested items with a trained eye. He knew what he was going to buy, but there was no use in rushing his visit. It wasn't like he had anywhere else to go so he figured he might as well enjoy the outing. Perhaps tea later would be nice, but for now, he browsed the shelves of strange and eerie items, not even thinking that any of his class mates would be in town.

Emelia was pretty much flippant when it came to holidays. Mostly? They were an excuse for her to feed undetected or better yet, score free stuff, (mostly teas, she would never pass up a 'limited' leaf). But even if a holiday and she didn't have work, she still had chores. She still had needs and- okay so yes, it might have been work but she'd not prefer to think of it as such.

She was out of a few herbs and other casting ingredients and the dinky shop by he house hardly had anything good in stock. That and she wanted to pick up some fresh fruits later. The shop was to Emelia, ugly. Nothing overly fancy and more often than not she'd spy a shelf with a layer of dust over it. Walking down the isles, she hoped to find the fish scales she was looking for. The desire for fish scale however, faded fast when the whiff of a witch went by. Looking past a fer jars and- "Oh, now aren't you a cute one?" She purred.

Cicero nearly dropped the jar of rose petals he was holding when the purring voice of some girl drifted through his ears. He rose a brow and looked around, wondering who in the heck she was talking about. When he saw no other customers strolling around, he turned his attention to the angelic face peering at him between some dusty jars.

"Excuse me," Cicero asked, staring right back at the pink haired girl. He'd never been accosted in such a manner so had no idea how to react other than with a haughty, slightly demeaning tone. "Have we met before?" She looked like one of the students from the school, but he was sure he'd remember a pink haired seductress sitting in on one of the lectures. Who was she?

He was lucky to not have dropped the jar, it was far overpriced. The boy looked rather handsome, and for a second Emelia pitied his girlfriend, she probably had it rough keeping other off of him. "Oh you're feisty. I like that. Keeps things interesting. And no sadly, I'd remember someone as delicious looking as you, but if we have the name Emelia ring a bell?" Rounding the shelves she took a moment to look him up and down.
"You're even cuter up close. Oh, and those rose petals are over priced, you're better buying them further down the road."

Cicero wrinkled his nose as the girl, Emelia, revealed herself further. Delicately, he set the jar back on the shelf before turning to face his adversary. And adversary she was. No one EVER called him feisty or cute. This girl was angling for something but Cicero just didn't know what.

"While a few things may be overpriced, I give my support to this shop," Cicero replied. It's not like he was short on cash, his father at least gave him that much. "And unfortunately I've never heard of you before and I'm also sure you've never heard of me. You may call me Cicero. What year are you Miss Emelia?" If anything Cicero hoped to get out of this conversation by being icily polite. Ask a few inane questions and then slip away. He could feel a flush creeping up his face the longer he stared at Emelia. He'd never been good with girls, especially the flashy, confident ones.

Sadly for Cicero, Emelia called him feisty and cute. She'd call him those thing again. "You can support a shop, or you could save some money, use it to buy your girl a gift, maybe even take one on a date." She grinned. He would be a tough nut to crack, if she could crack him at all. That was however, part of the fun of it.
"Cicero...Mmm a handsome name for a handsome man. And my year?" She twirled her finger in her hair. "How about legal? Or better yet how about graduate. Top of my class." A lie, a big one really given she just kind of..dropped out when she'd become a witch eater. But he didn't need to know that. "Still going to the academy though? I can help you study if you want. Or.... help in other ways." She wanted him to take the bait. Then she could snack and run.
Her version of a dine and dash.

"I don't have a girl," Cicero sputtered, using his outraged words to hide the redness of his face. His ears were practically on fire and he scowled, hurriedly looking away. Girls didn't go for him. Ever. Sure, there was interest at the beginning, like in his money, but the second they found out his prowess lay in blood magic and potions, they hurriedly continued on. He had no idea why this girl was trying to have a go at him. Was Emelia making fun of him?

"You shouldn't make fun of me, either," Cicero added, crossing his arms defensively. "Were you really the top of your class? You must've been really popular then." His words were slow, almost thoughtful. He knew he shouldn't have asked the question, but he always wondered what it would be like to be top in class. It's wasn't all about academics, either. Cicero was smart enough to compete that way, but his people skills were lacking, leaving him lurking in the shadows.

Oh no girl? This could make her job easier. Or harder if he was into guys. Then it was just going to be plain frustrating. Following him, and his red face, Emelia purred out a reply. "Why should, or would, I make fun of you. You're cute. You go to the academy meaning you have goals in life. All those sorts of things. And 'popular' is a... subjective term." Popular with reapers when they had come for her, that was for sure.

"I had a few, well let's just call them admirers, but truthfully, they just wanted me and what I could give them," her life, "So I sent them away," by eating their hearts in revenge. Back then she'd been lucky. Very very lucky to have gotten away with it. Thankfully, other witch eaters had distracted them, letting Emelia escape into another lost file. Still, the guy was trying to send her away and Emelia wouldn't have it. "What about you? No girl but with those looks, I assume you have someone. Or least a bit of fun right?"

Cicero snorted and before he could help it, he laughed. He politely covered his mouth, but a laugh was a still a laugh and he was hurriedly backpedaling to apologize. "Forgive me," Cicero replied, his mouth still quirked at the corners, "but I don't think fun is the correct term for the things I do." The witch shrugged before he sidled past Emelia, another jar in his hands. It was the Peruvian powder he'd been wanting and he figured since his browsing had been interrupted, he might as well hurry and buy the stuff.

"You know, you're very beautiful, Emelia," Cicero added, sporting a full blow flush now. "I should think you have your pick of young men." He disappeared around another shelf and hurried to pay for his goods in fear of his head exploding. Why he'd said that he didn't know.

He... was laughing. For a second, she was ready to put on her 'don't laugh at me' pout but it was unneeded. So... he didn't think his work was fun? Magic was... well Emelia was quite sure it was fun and if it was not you were obviously doing something wrong. Obviously. Still, he was trying to leave her in the dust. Pity really, she was having her brand of fun. But- Oh. Giving herself a bit of a fan she smiled. "Why Cicero, you're making my heart go all aflutter" With hunger. Not to mention the fact that she just liked compliments.

She would admit though, him running off after- she didn't really want that. Following after him and his delicious scent, she came behind him, fluttering lashes and all. "I should have my pick? And what if I picked you?"

Cicero hunched and looked over his shoulder, his recent purchase clutched in his hand. Damn, the minx had followed him. "I'd say you're crazy," Cicero replied with a staunch nod. He squinted at those fluttering lashes and that rosebud mouth and frowned harder. "Yes, definitely crazy." He felt like an idiot. This girl wanted something. It was obvious in her forwardness. Then again, Emelia could just be forward. Ridiculously so.

Finally, the witch sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose as if put upon. In reality, it had been a while since he'd actually been with anyone outside of school. Despite the fact that Emelia was a flirtatious beauty with a skewed interested in him...Cicero found he didn't mind as much as thought. "I'm not really doing anything, you know, but if you like, you can come with me." Again he was blushing and again he was cursing himself an idiot.

Crazy? Well, eat enough hearts and you'd be crazy too. Or maybe just have a different definition like Emelia. "Hardly crazy, maybe.. flirty, but never crazy." In public. That part she'd keep to herself.
Looking at his expression she waited. If he yelled her off then she'd have wasted her time. A public telling off well- hard to recover from that sort of thing. So when she didn't get told off- Snaking her way next to him, her arm casually slipped around his own. "Mhm. I's enjoy that very much actually. Any place special? If not I know a cheap but very delicious cafe just a little ways down the road."

With a dark alley perfect for a feeding. "Or you can take me back you place. Show a girl a good time." She was willing to bet the second part would be a no.

Cicero chuckled and shook his head. "No, Emelia. To the cafe if you like," he replied, gently removing her from around his arm. He knew he'd be in for a pound with this girl, but he'd expected it so wasn't as flustered when she'd first accosted him. It still made him wonder though, why had Emelia approached him in the first place?

"Lead the way," Cicero added, inclineing his head. He knew he'd just interrupted his mental thoughts, but wouldn't be any use dwelling on them. Nothing bad had happened yet and Cicero was never one to stop himself from doing anything simply based on an "if".

Ah well, arm entangled or no, she had him. All that was left was getting him in the right spot at the right time. She would admit, he was cute, and it seemed a shame to trick him like this but a girl had to eat, and the cutest were often to most sweet. "To the cafe then." Leading the way through a few winding roads, a few back lots... And then she felt he would sufficiently lost. Or at least directionally muddled to not know where the nearest busy street was.

"MMhmm, we're here." Only there was no cafe, no little shop. "So Cicero, tell me,-" without realizing it, her wings had come out, her hunger coming forth, "You as sweet as you look?"
