With a cough Valentino woke up from lab. The last memory he had was the open bottle of embalming fluid spilling onto the tale. It's sickening sweet smells invading his nostrils and brain. Taking stock of his situation, Valentino saw that everything in the lab was covered in a fine layer of dust and cobwebs. How long had he been out?
Wiping himself off, trying not to breathe in any of the dust caking the room. Valentino stumbled around in his lab. Each footstep kicked up a small cloud of dust. In no time what so ever Valentino couldn't see three inches in front of him. Running smack into the table, then into his tool kit, Valentino thrashed around trying to find the door.
Leaving the clutter behind, Valentino finally reached the door. Pushing with all his might, Valentino tried to open the door. The hinges had rusted and wouldn't budge. Grunting with effort, Valentino gave another push, then another. The hindges still would not move. Valentino would not be denied freedom however. Taking a few steps back, Valentino, running and yelling, slammed headfirst into the door.
Waking up a few moments later, Valentino was pleased to see that his kamikaze rush at the door had succeeded in opening the door slightly. After five more head first runs and subsequent concussions, Valentino open the door enought to fit through.
Looking for fresh air, Valentino walked outside. Each step caused him some distress. The once slightly spare campus was now filled with students. Boils and ghouls that he had never seem before were all walking from different buildings. There was so much going on and Valentino had no idea what to do. Backing up, Valentino spun around lost, unsure as to where to go.

All of Valentino's spinning about had sent him bumping right into Calder, who had been chewing on a piece of tongue-flavored taffy when the boil crashed into him. The impact caused a cloud of dust that had been coating the boil to spread out, and Calder, blinking dust from his eye, started to cough - which didn't help with a piece of candy in your mouth. Choking and coughing, Calder took a fist and hit his chest, forcing down the piece of candy, and with a hard swallow and tears dotting the corners of his eyes, he managed to catch his breath.
Waving the dust cloud and adjusting his grip on his bag of candy, he looked up to see a very dusty, very haggard looking boil. One that....looked familiar. "Hey. Be careful." He checked to make sure that he didn't step on the boil's feet. Oh good. No crushed toes for anyone today.
Looking back up, he turned his head and then dusted the boil's hair, trying to see him a bit better and figure out where he saw him from. "You okay?"

The impact had knocked the wind out of Valentino, to be honest, it knocked the dust out of Valentino's lungs. Being undead, his lungs had been more of an accessory that anything else. It was out of habit that Valentino breathed. Coughing out dust, Valentino was vaguely aware that someone was roughing up his hair. Having been still for an extended period of time, Valentino's thick mane of hair had become the sacutuary for the labs insectoid inhabitants. The dusting that the boil's hand gave to Valentino's hair caused all maner of multi-legged creatures to scurry out of Valentino's hair and onto the ground. " I am fine" Valentino rasped as the boil dusted him hair. It was not all together unpleasant. He could feel the caked layer of cobwebs and dust fall off. The stars finally clearing from Valentino's eyes, he took a good look at the boil who he had run into. Something about the boil was vaguely familiar. Lifting himself up, Valentino took a step towards the boil. " Thank you" Valentino mumbled " I hope that I did not cause you any harm. No broken bones, brushed skin, or bleeding wounds I hope." Valentino gave the best apology that he could. Mostly his conversations tended to be with cadavers.

Calder didn't mind bugs. He slept in muddy banks and had leeches hidden on her person almost all of the time. Fester, his favorite leech, was often crawling about in his hair as a vantage point and to suck on his ear. Spiders were no biggie for him, though he was concerned about the amount of dust. Dirt was one thing for an undead. Dust meant you were still enough to accumulate it. Was he doing some early October cleaning? It was a beautiful day out to air some blankets.
"Oh no. I don't bruise that easily. I'm very sturdy." He tapped his chest with a fist before reaching over and dusting off the boil's shoulders. "Takes a good amount to knock me down. Just choked a bit on my candy." He flicked off a spider that was trying to crawl back up into his web that was now attached to the boil's ear. The boil looked very worn, and as much as Calder liked his candy, he wasn't about to be mean. "Wanna piece?"

Candy? Valentino hadn't had candy since... Since well forever. Why would this boil offer him candy? It was obviously some sort of trap.
"candy? Why I love candy. Thank you for your offer of candy, which I accept with humility." Valentino smiled as he looked the boil, he couldn't show fear at this time of fear. It was hard to tell who this boil was. Valentino's glasses were still caked with dust. taking them off he gave them a wipe with his jacket.
"have we met?" Valentino asked while staring at the boil through his newly cleared glasses. Valentino was sure that this boil must surely know who he was. Why else would he be trying to poison him? Had he offended this boil in the past? Maybe Valentino had once taken the boil to his lab before. He started to rack his brain of all the places he had been at in the past. He couldn't have seen the boil in his lab? No nobody escaped from there. Had he seen him in class? no, Valentino hadn't been in any classes. Something about the boil was familiar though....

"Oh, I have bubblegum, and little colorful hard things that I can't remember the name but taste really good. There are these stripe things and this taffy stuff. Oh, and lollipops." He offered a lollipop to Val in the shape of a spider, only because it seemed appropriate, which was wrapped in clear plastic and tied off with an orange ribbon. Letting Val take the lollipop, he tried to figure out where he saw the boil. "Yeah, I think we met a while back. Hard to tell. You're VERY dusty." He brushed his shoulder off again before thinking a moment.
Snapping his fingers, he reached to his neck and undid his plaid cravat. Then, licking it a moment, he went and started to clean the boil's cheek. "Hmmm. Did I ever.....I don't think we went to class together before..... it is right at the tip of my brain. What's your name?"

Of course he was dusty,Valentino had been in the lab for at least a year. He still wasn't ready to admit that personal failing just yet. "I'm not that dusty" he muttered
Taking the spidery candy, Valentino held it in one hands unsure as what to do. It was at this point that the boil struck with its cloth.
"my name is Valentino" Valentino softly said as he was being cleaned. Valentino was sure that this boil was trying to embarrass him to death. Valentino wished the attempt was working. He could feel all the eyes of other students watching this display.
Trying to figure out a way out of this attack, Valentino shook his head and wiggled out of he boil's grip. In one quick motion, Valentino unwrapped the spider candy from it's plastic wrapper, it was clearly poisoned by this boil. Valentino gripped the lollipop like a fencing foil and lunged. The spider candy struck true, right in the boil's mouth. The tables had turned, the poisoner would be felled by his own poison candy.
"before this so-called candy of your's takes effect, tell me your name" Valentino demanded.

Calder paused when the boil backed away, but was glad he managed to clear some of the dirt from the boil's face. He was still rather messy, and he wondered if he could suggest a nice dip in a nearby river. Or maybe - OH! He had an idea!!
Just as he was opening his mouth to suggest that he go with him to the Amityville springs, the undead unwrapped his lollipop and then shoved it in his mouth. He nearly gagged, but then remembered the name. OH! He stumbled into his room once. With the lollipop in his mouth, he mumbled a long string of realization of who the boil was, and then his name, but then stopped. Grabbing the stick, he pulled the lollipop out and licked his lips.
"My name is Calder. I remember now. I went in your room once. Can't remember what we talked about, but you had these jars and shiny tools and all these things in your room." Like a hammer and shovels. Thinking about it now, he felt that Christof and Barth might like Val.
The kelpie than licked the lollipop. "You don't like Gangrene Apple?" He said, waving the lollipop before popping it into his mouth and moving it to one corner of his mouth. "I've got some bubblegum if you don't like lollipops." Calder offered him a brightly wrapped candy ball to the boil. "It's gooooddd."

Valentino thought he had won. He thought that this assassin was vanquished. He couldn't wait for the boil to suffer his poisonous fate. Waiting, Valentino could barely contain his glee. Watching the boil mumble his last string of words, Valentino smelled victory.
It was to his great astonishment when the boil took out the lollipop and licked his lips. It was clear that the boil hadn't used a fast acting poison. Clever boil. Valentino thought he had it all figured out and then the boil dropped the bombshell.
"wait... Pony?" Valentino knew this boil! He had invaded Valentino's lab and caused more damage than a tornado. And now he was offering gum?
Gum was a weakness that Valentino couldn't purge. Snaching it from Calder, he stuck it in his mouth and started to chew.
"it's good" Valentino admitted. Unfortunatly the dust in his mouth was causing the sugary goodness to taste like the back of an earthworm. Valentino spat out the gum into his own hand. It was brown and caked with dust. Valento looked at the gum, at Clader, and then back to the gum.

Calder looked at the gum, looked at Val, and looked at the gum. "You need a bath." He pointed out. "...and a new piece of gum."
Smiling, he snapped his fingers. He was just about to say.
Back on track, he patted Val's shoulder. "The Amityville springs JUST opened up. It's just the place to get all that dust off of ya. How about we head over, or do you want to step inside your dorm real quick for a change? Maybe grab a towel and some trunks. I'm good as is." He always jumped in water all the time on a spur of the moment. All he had to do was strip down to his kilt.
"It will make you feel right as rain, and I'll bring the candy. You'll be feeling lots better." And he really needed to bring someone for his homework assignment. He looked down at the gum. "You can drop that if you don't want it." Calder might just offer to take it from him but he had given it to the boil, and he had plenty of candy left over.

"Sally would have said the same thing" Valentino gave a small whimper as calder stated the hard truth about his cleanliness. He hadn't brought her with him out the lab and now he had nobody to give him advice. The pony would have to do until Valentino found Sally and the rest of his tools.
"there's nothing in my lab but dust" Valentino muttered. Sally would have clocked Valentino by now if she saw him moping, and that thought alone made him even more depressed. He didn't want to go back, so much dust, so much cleaning. At this moment Sally would have also reminded Valentino not to ever allow the destructive force that was Calder back into the lab.
This was no good. A moping Valentino was a defeated Valentino. Stuff upper lip. Throwing the gum at a passing student. Valentino just stared at Calder, if he was going to be cleaned he was going to do it now. "lead the way"

"Is Sally your ghoulfriend?" He asked, thinking that Sally sounded like a very ghouly name, and smiled as he turned, about to lead the way when he remembered that Val seemed to have a hard time seeing. Not wanting him to bump into other students or fall, the kelpie locked arms and started to walk.
"Do you like dust? You seem to be covered in it? Maybe you need some cleaning done? Unless you like spiders. They are very pretty." And looked tasty. He continued to lick his lollipop.
"What have you been up to? I haven't seen you in a while, but maybe you arent' taking any classes that I am. Not a scientist type person after all, but maybe we should take a class. It's always nice to talk to new people, not that you are NEW since I met you before but you feel new since we didn't say much and I still feel like I haven't met-met you." Hello Val, did you meet Calder the gabber?

"Sally? No, she's more like a older sister to me" one that complained and constantly harangued Valentino. Good time, good times.
Valentino started to answer cader's onslaught of questions. However, the wall of words that attacked Valentino was cruel and relentless. At the boil's current rate of the words per minute, Val would soon be needing a trip to nurse cricket's infirmity.
"the dust was a side effect of a failed experiment" Valentino tried to explain, but as soon as he finished answering that question another popped out of Calder's mouth. Grumpily Valentino was led by Calder to the springs. He was starting to regret the situation more and more and the boil talked on and on. Maybe Valentino could get him to do something else other than as questions.
"wasn't your hair longer last time we met?" Valentino planned to jptune Clader out once he stopped asking questions. The sooner this hot spring trip was over. The better.

The assault of talk halted and Calder paused licking his lollipop to look worried. "I.... accidentally cut it. So it had to get trimmed." His ears drew back. "Does it....look bad?"
The springs was actually a recently cleaned out cave behind the undead dorms, meaning the walk wasn't long at all. A sign indicated the opened springs, and inside there were stalagmites and stalactites all about, before showing signs towards the Acid Pools, The Not-Very-Hot Pools, and VERY hot pools, and just the hot pools. Calder gestured towards the hot pools, still looking self-concious. "There are changing stations that way. You can just wrap up in a towel if you want or go in as is. I think. There are no rules." Calder went to set his bag of candy someplace safe so that it wouldn't fall into the pool, and then started to unbutton his jacket.

"I like short hair" Valentino admitted. Long hair always got in the way during a lobotomy. The shorter the subject's hair, the less he had shave off. just thought of having to shave a hairy boil made Valentino shudder.
Following Calder into the changing station, Valentino stood unsure what do next. Calder had left his bag of candy somewhere, so instead of changing, he went on the the hunt for more gum. Finding a fresh piece, he popped it into his mouth.
Happily chewing, Valentino followed Calder's example and started taking his dusty clothes off. His shoes, plants, gloves, and head mirror all came off. The shirt and tie were also removed while the unmentionables skittered off by themselves. Wrapping himself in a towel, Valentino gingerly slid into the pool. Almost instantly, the once clean water started to turn a shade of brown as the dust and dirt was washed off.
"it's nice" Valentino admitted. there was a pleasant sensation where the water lapped through the hollow cavity in his chest.
