Silver eyes stared pensively up towards the heavens, trying to see the beauty of the night. Trying to make sense of the new life he was placed in. This was not the first time this had happened, so at least there was that. And he had all his memories intact, but whether that was a blessing or curse was still up in the air. He sighed. It would be worth it though. He had known there would be consequences for his actions, a cost he was willing to bear, if only to be with the one he loved. Perhaps now they would find the happiness they both longed for. Perhaps he would finally get to see her smile.

Mina let out a soft sigh as she looked up at the stars and thought how beautiful they were tonight. She saw a shooting star streak across the sky and she could only hope that was a sign that things would start to look up. She wished on the star to be happy, then she looked back down, her brown eyes searching. Soon those chocolate orbs spotted what she was looking for and she trotted up to him.
"Akira, you look deep in thought, are you okay?"Mina's gentle voice asked. She waited patiently for his reply, hoping she was not disturbing him.

As a youngling, Akira remembered hearing stories of shooting stars. Supposedly they could grant wishes. Something he scoffed at then. Wishes were for those who couldn't act or were afraid of acting. Wishes were for the weak. Or so he had thought.
'One day,' someone told him, 'action will fail you. All you will have is hope and wishes.'
He hadn't believed them then. But seeing the star tonight he felt a wish couldn't hurt. Let us find happiness here.
Caught up in his thoughts, he hadn't heard Mina approach, and he nearly jumped out of his skin at her soft voice. Though he was pensive and slightly melancholy, he refused to allow Mina to see it.
'I was just thinking. '

Mina thought of what she could say to him, so decided on something else instead. She reached over and nuzzled his cheek, hoping that whatever he was thinking of was a good thing.
"It will be alright, Akira, we will do everything we can to make sure of it. This is our home now and we will make a life here that is wonderful. Who knows, maybe this place will bring us much happiness and joy. Also, don't forget, we have each other,"Mina reminded.

Words were difficult, and he often found it nearly impossible to say what he meant without it coming out terribly wrong. Words were terrifying. He preferred to use his actions to show what he felt and wanted to get across.
He hated feeling like he caused Mina any concern. That was the last thing he ever wanted. He followed her here after all. Falling far from where they once were. But he didn't care. He did so for her. He would do even more if it was required.
He gently rested his head on hers for a moment. 'You' re all I could ever need.'

Mina smiled softly, her fangs glittering gently in the light of the moon above their heads. She closed her eyed as she felt his head on her's and heard his words. Her hearts fluttered as she heard them, the words that every girl longed to hear. She rested her head against his chest and thought how she could get lost in this moment. She knew that as long as she had Akira, she would be safe and would be happy.
"You are all I need, Akira, all I think I will ever need for the rest of our lives, however long that turns out to be. We will make this our home and we will do everything we can to secure our happiness,"Mina said gently. She was not going to let anyone take their happiness from them.

It was a feeling he would never take for granted, the feeling of his princess leaning against him so trustingly. Knowing he would move the heavens and earth to protect her, that he would do more if it would make her happy. He returned her affectionate gesture briefly.
A cold breeze blew and he shivered lightly. It was a chilly night, and the area they were in was so exposed. He felt nervous and uncomfortable. The years he had spent protecting her, made him feel very on edge and nervous. He could not fulfill his duty as her guard here. But more, she was his heart and reason for living, so as her lover, it was more important to him that he get her somewhere safe.
‘It is …’he started, but then rethought his words. ‘Perhaps we might try and find somewhere a little less open.’

Mina had been so lost in the moment, that she hadn't really paid attention to where they were. When Akira suggested that they go somewhere safe, she felt the chill that surrounded them. She shivered softly, then nodded her head in agreement, somewhere less exposed might be a good idea.
"I guess somewhere a little less...open might be a good idea, dear. We don't know our way around though, so I am not quite sure where we could go from here,"Mina admitted to Akira. She looked around, trying to see if there was anywhere they could go.

If there was one thing that was his, that he was confident in no matter what, it was his connection with the earth. In his last life, he had been a member of the earth, one of the earth's beloved sons who would protect her as much as the one whom he was born to serve.
The connection in this form, this life, wasn't as strong, but it was still there, echoing like a second heartbeat, if he took the time to listen. He would be able to find an area to shelter them, though whether or not it would be unoccupied was still up in the air. He could only hope to find somewhere safe soon.
Flexing his paws, he could feel the earth shift. It was a familiar and comforting feeling. He could get used to this new form, this new life. After all, it wasn't too different from his form in the other world. He felt the energy of the earth, seeking out the life that would indicate a forest or somewhere sheltered.
'Princess, to the east. We should be able to find shelter there.'

Mina watched Akira with interest as he seemed to be connected with the earth, something he must still be able to do, despite their new forms. She was quiet, waiting to see if he would be able to find somewhere for them to go. When he spoke, she let a soft smile come to her face and she nodded her head to him.
"Alright, my knight, then you better lead the way to where we can find this shelter. That way if there is any danger, you will be able to protect us from it,"Mina suggested.

He knew Mina was strong, but in these different forms, could she still be able to keep up with him? He did have an advantage, these new forms were similar enough to his last he knew what he was and was not capable of. He felt a moment of indecision. He did not want her behind him, in case she started to falter and he was unable to see it and if they got split up... He could not bear the thought of anything happening. Not when they hadn't yet even had a chance.
But on the other paw, the longer they stood out in the cold and the open, the more likely they were to become targets. At least if they made the shelter of the forest he felt, he would be in his element and much more able to protect them.
'Very well,' he murmured softly and reached over to nuzzle Mina. 'There is a forest. It shouldn't be too far. If we move quickly, we should reach it well before dawn.' He paused trying to figure out how to word his thoughts without causing any offense. 'It is a fairly long distance in these forms. Will you be able to make it ok?'

Mina saw the indecision in Akira's features and wondered if she had something wrong. When he started to speak, she hissed softly, but realized he was just looking out for her. She reached over and nuzzled his cheek, before nodding her head.
"I may not be as used to this form, but I do believe I will be able to keep up, Akira. I am a vampire princess, I am hoping I can still move like the wind,"Mina replied.

There were times he absolutely adored Mina, Then there were the moments -like now- when he remembered just who she was, and how easy it would be for him to dislike her.
'Well, your highness, please forgive this unworthy one for trying to be considerate and caring for you.' Akira snorted and tossed his head before taking off at a swift clip.
No matter how much he might get frustrated to no end, and exasperated, he would always love Mina and do his best to make sure she was well protected, safe, and happy. He made sure the pace was swift, he wanted to be out of the open as quickly as possible, but also enough that Mina could keep up with him. Perhaps this would be easier for them both once they found a place that was safe and they could call their own.

Mina heard the tone the other used and knew she had upset him. She forgot sometimes that Akira was always there for her and that she needed to treat him with respect. As he took off, she quickly galloped after him, running as fast as her new legs could go. She kept the other easily in her sights and she couldn't help but look around, to make sure they weren't being followed.
"I am sorry, Akira, I did not mean to upset you just now. I suppose I just forget how much you care for me and I get a little...inconsiderate,"Mina apologized softly.

Akira shook his head. He knew how much Mina meant to him, and he knew how she was...so even if he snapped at her or got angry at her behaviour, he would always forgive her, no matter what. They were two souls that had been formed for eachother, and in this life and any other they would always be together and he would love her, as she loved him as much as she knew to.
He had greatly underestimated the speed and strength of the new form, as well as overestimating the distance they would have to travel to reach the safe haven. With their speed, they managed to make it well before the sky started to brighten. The glen was small and secluded. But it had a water source, food and was easily defensible. Most importantly, it was uninhabited. In all it was a wonderful, safe place. One in which they could relax and rejuvenate. They could rest up and decide where to go and what to next.
