The sounds of fists and feet hitting padded fabric mitts echoed through the nearly empty training area. Yotta, the humanoid Meowth boy, had set up a training dummy, completely made of bits of training equipment he'd found throughout the dojo. It wasn't anything to be terribly proud of, as it kept falling apart pretty much anytime he hit it. But, he didn't have many other options if he wanted to get some training in today. The other occupants of the dojo had gone out for meditation at a nearby waterfall. Since he wasn't too keen on meditation, he offered to stay home and watch the place, or, rather, train and make a mess.

"ARGH!" came a frustrated grunt as Yotta hit the dummy and it fell apart once more. "Why won't this stay together?!" He huffed as he went and picked up the pieces. Groaning, he placed the odds and ends next to the wooden Wing Chun Kungfu training dummy and lay on the soft, warm grass. "BAH!" he shouted, giving up for the time being. He'd get back to it later... unless something else came up.

Jubilee came around the bend, looking up, with closed eyes, and huffing and puffing. "Who needs 'im? I sure don't." Kidd had rubbed her the wrong way by refusing to play with her, so she figured she would go out and play by herself.

She kept her hurried pace until she got near the dojo. When she walked by, she open her eyes and looked down at the Meowth boy, who was lounging down on the grass. "What're you doing down there?" Then, she looked around at the rest of the dojo. "And what is this place?"

Yotta blinked up at the girl whom entered the dojo, a billion questions entering his head all at once. What was she? Was she a changed Pokemon, like him? Where'd she come from? How'd he not notice her enter? Lucky for his little mind, though, she asked the first questions. "I'm resting right now," he replied without getting up from the grass. "And this is the Inner Strength Dojo." He suddenly remembered his master always said it was proper to introduce one's self when meeting a new person. Scrambling to a sitting position, he bowed to the girl in front of him. "Hello there, my name's Yotta." He raised his head, waiting for a reply.

"That makes sense. There's nothing like napping on a sunny day." Jubilee wanted to do that when she got back home.

In his sitting pose, she thought Yotta looked an awful lot like a Meowth. She hoped he did not have an appetite for mice or birds like one. Just the thought alone gave her chills.

She also thought Yotta acted very different from the other guy she knew, Kidd. She bowed back in imitation of Yotta. "My name is Jubilee." Once she stood back up, she said, "It's nice to meet you." Then, she spun around to get a better look at the dojo. "This place looks so cool! What do you do in a dojo? Is it like a playground?" Then, she remembered the stories she heard of Pokemon trainers fighting in gyms. "Or do you fight like in a gym?"

"Well, it's more like a gym than a playground. But it's also my home." Yotta pointed to the house that was just a few steps off. "I live here with my master and his team. They're not here right now, though... they went out to meditate. I think meditating's kinda boring. But we train and spar to get better and more fit."

He had a feeling this girl was like him, a changed Pokemon, but he had no clue what kind. His whole Pokemon experience had been rather limited. He knew several Fighting-types, but when it came to any other type, there were only a few he'd ever met. Hopefully not offending her, he decided just to ask, "Are you a changed Pokemon like me? Did you find a star too?"

"Wow! Your home is awesome!" She thought it looked much nicer than the one bedroom apartment she was used to.

"Meditating is boring." Just the thought of it made her yawn. She covered her mouth as she did so. "It looks too much like sleeping."

Ah, so he was like her! She was glad he had breached the subject first. "Yes. I did. So, you used to be a normal Meowth then? I was a Raichu." She looked left and right over her shoulders and then said, "I don't know where the wings came from." She had an inkling. Her father was a Togekiss, after all. This entire transformation business confused her greatly. "I know I didn't have those before. It's too bad. Those would've came in handy. I could fly out of the way when things chased me, instead of having to run up a tree."

She put a finger to her lip and though. "Hmm, do you ever wonder about the things you can do now that you wished you could do before or anything like that?"

"Yeah, this is a pretty cool house," Yotta laughed, agreeing wholeheartedly. The boy was a bit oblivious to the fact that his kind normally chased after her kind. In his mind, she was just another friend to be made.

"OH! I've found it's a LOT easier to do martial arts moves now!" He grinned a toothy grin. "It's SO much better for me to train an' try to do all da stuff that Master Brutus was trying to teach me. What about you?" The question was added eagerly.
PostPosted: Mon May 07, 2012 2:03 pm

"Aww, sweet! You'll have to show me some of your martial arts moves some time." Jubilee's eyes sparkled as she thought of him karate chopping logs or breaking Watmel Berries with his head.

"Uh, me?" She put her finger to her lip and thought. Then, she stopped, clapped her fist against her hand, and said, "Oh, wait, I got it now! I can fly now. That's one thing. Not very well and I can't control my wings and all, but it still counts." She gesticulated a lot when she spoke. "And people understand me way more now. Before, it was like I was trying to talk underwater or something. I would say one thing and they'd be, like, 'Do you mean this?', and I'd be, like, 'No, of course not. What's wrong with you?' You know what I mean?"

"You can fly? That's cool!" Yotta replied. "I'm sure you probably just need practice and you'll be able to fly just fine!" He gave Jubilee a reassuring smile. "And I know exactly what you mean about people not understanding you! It was like we were speaking a different language or somethin'!" He laughed, amused by the thought of this. "But, like, now I even have to tell Master Brutus what the other, non-changed Pokemon are saying... though, he's pretty good at knowing the gist of what's said." He added the last part as an after thought.

"Thanks! I'm glad you think so. Yes, yes, I think you're right! It's like with baby birds. Once they get out the nest enough times, they can fly with the big birds." Jubilee laughed at what he said about having to translate. "I don't think anyone has figured out I can do that, yet. It sounds a little annoying. But they have to respect you for having a skill like that, right? And it's good he has some idea. If he was way off base..." She giggled. "It'd be like if someone said meant to say 'hello', but he thought he said 'I have a hat on my feet.'"

Yotta literally fell back laughing so hard at Jubilee's likening to translating. It was the funniest thing he'd heard in, well, ever. The inhabitants of the Inner Strength Dojo were not ones that joked often, if ever. In fact, he sometimes wondered if some of them even had a sense of humor. After a couple moments of enjoying the phrase, "I have a hat on my feet," including visualizing it a few times (which just caused him to laugh harder), he calmed down and sat back up. "You're funny," he smiled, meaning it very much as a compliment. As if his train of thought went somewhere different entirely a second later, he added, "What would you like to do?"

Yotta's laughter was contagious. Jubilee started doing it too. "Thank you!" She wasn't expecting him to find that so hilarious, but it made her glad. When she stopped laughing, she wiped the tears from her eyes and the snot from her nose, and said, "I'd like to see you spar. It sounds so cool! If you need two people to do it, then could I try too?"

"Sure!" Yotta replied, all to eager to spar with someone new. "Well, I mean, if you want. Sometimes it can get pretty rough..." He thought for a minute. "Maybe we should just try normal training first. Have you ever punched or kicked anything... um... like a pad?" As he asked crawled over to one of the padded mitts that lay next to the wooden training dummy. He picked it up and showed it to Jubilee. "Like this?" He held it out for her to take and look at. "It's soft, but kinda firm, so it doesn't hurt the person holding it or the person punching... or kicking. Wanna trying that first?"
PostPosted: Sun Jun 10, 2012 3:42 pm

"Of course, I want to. I wouldn't have asked if I didn't." Jubilee didn't intend to back down at all.

"I've punched and kicked things before, but never a pad. I'll like to start with that then." First, she walked in front of him, wound up her right arm, and punched the pad. While she didn't put her full force into it, she already felt a difference between it and a tree. It felt much nicer and springier. Then, she backpedaled and ran towards him. She wanted to do a jump kick. In the end, only her toes actually made contact with the pad. She wasn't impressed by herself in the slightest.

She wondered what Yotta thought. He had done this before, so she thought he would be a better judge than she was. "How was that?"

"Not bad at all!" he grinned genuinely. Moving beside her, he threw a slow punch, "If you want a stronger punch twist here, at the waist." He threw the punch again so she could see what he was talking about. "Oh! An' if ya hit with your first two knuckles, you're less likely ta hurt yourself." He pointed to the knuckles of his index and middle fingers. "An' it looks like ya already know not to close a fist around your thumb... if you hit somethin' like that, you can break your thumb."

"As for your kick, it wasn't bad, but you jumped too soon." He gave a bit of a giggle, "When I first started, I did that a lot!" He stepped back in front of her and took up a readied stance. "Why don'tcha try 'em again?"
