Saraneth was a filthy mess today. Rains had come and doused the area heavily, and Sara needed to save as many of the herbs as she could incase they be washed away by the rising girth of the river. Saving what she could before they were consumed, Sara found herself a muddy-caked mess. This wouldn't do for her, as the mud caused her to itch and restricted her movements.

Locating a small off-shoot of the stream, Sara dropped her pouch of gathered herbs near a tree and waded herself into the rushing waters. It was a small enough off-shoot where the rushing waters would not sweep her away, but she did need to watch her footing as some of the rocks were slick with moss.

Dunking her head under the water, she felt some of the mud wash away and sighed, humming to herself pleasantly. She hadn't had such an invigorating bath in some time, it made her want to sing.

"I tell myself~ That you're no good for me. I wish you well, but desire never leaves~" She hummed, although her voice was not as powerful as some of the other women in the pride. She was very breathy, and light as if she was more or less speaking than singing. "I could fight this to the end~ But maybe I don't want to win?"

User ImageGalning was thinking about the last viking he had been on. He had been separated from the rest of his band for several days after a battle and no one seemed to know how it had happened. On the first of those days he had come across a young lioness with a dark pelt marked by blue and purple. Sarraqa had been her name, and she had been so sweet and soft.

He wondered what she was doing now. Actually, that verb was entirely too gentle for what he was doing. He was obsessing over what she was doing, imagining in detail what she might be doing. He liked to think she was pining for him, but even if she wasn't, what was she doing? Perhaps she was grooming, imagining she could still taste him on her fur all these weeks later.

He smiled to himself at the thought. His smile widened when he heard the sounds of a female voice singing. He imagined pretty Sara would sing like that. The words even seemed to suit their relationship. Perhaps he would seek her out on his next viking. He thought he remembered more or less where they had met. Maybe she was still there, or near there. They could meet again.

But first he had to find out who was singing. To that end he climbed to his feet and began tromping his muddy way toward the singing.

Funfact: Both lionesses Galning has been involved with are Sara's. LOL.

Saraneth was unaware of the audience she was soon garnering to herself, nor would she mind when he arrived within here view. It's not like she hadn't been watched peculiarly before. Out of all the Priestesses in the pride, she was the only one who didn't have a mate, children, or suitors of any kind. She attributed this to the rumors of the gifts her mother passed down to her, and although it kept her longing at times it also gave her absolute freedom.

Sara stretched in the water, letting out a pleasant sigh as her muscles relaxed and the mud and silt washed away. Hard work always gave way to the greatest moments of relaxation in her mind, and she was looking forward to a nap after she cleaned herself off.

Dunking her head under the water once more, Sara unsheathed her claws and carefully drug them through her head-tuft to untangle the hairs and pull out any debris that managed to get stuck in there.

She liked the song she was musing, even if she was not the hopeless romantic type. It was a song that described what she was taught love and relationships were. A poison. Debilitating, but addicting at the same time, much like the mint and fermented berries the Reavers liked to indulge themselves in.

"I breathe you in again~ Just to feel you. Underneath my skin~ Holding on to. The sweet escape~," She mused before pausing as she shook off a chill that passed through her, "Is always laced with a- familiar tasteeeee of poison~."

As the singer continued her song it occurred to Galning that she might stop, and that he'd have to track her the usual way if she did. He hadn't done too badly finding his cousins before coming to the pride, but he also hadn't been consciously tracking them at first. Subconsciously, Galning was aware that he was not much of a tracker, and that he had best find his singer before he was forced to track her down.

"Keep singing," Galning muttered under his breath as he made his way toward the water.

Likely he was a comical sight, going along with his head tilted to one side and letting his right ear lead him, rather than his eyes. He didn't know if he heard any better out of his right ear, but it felt more, well, right to lead with that ear. It took him more time than he would have liked to come within scenting distance of the singing lioness, though perhaps that was because she smelled a great deal like her surroundings.

"You have a great voice," he told her, bursting through the underbrush. "And that song - wow! It is so exactly how I'm feeling."

Saraneth was not the sort of lioness to find herself caught off guard, but the sounds of rushing water and the delightful feeling of dirt washing away from her coat made her oblivious to Galning's advances until his head came bursting through the foliage near her with his boisterous compliments.

"Ack!" Sara exclaimed, slipping on a rock beneath her and taking a quick dive into the water, regaining some of the debris she had just cleansed herself of. When she managed to get her footing again and emerge from the water, she gave out a gasp and looked straight at Galning with her pitch-black eyes and said, "Do you always peep on women as they bathe?"

It was bad enough he had caught her off guard, she would not solidify this embarrassing moment by reacting in any way that less than lady-like. As lady-like as you could get with a couple of twigs and leaves in your hair, and dripping with some water and mud.

"I thank you, though," She said quietly, pulling her claws through her hair to fish out the debris, "I never felt I was much of a strong singer. Merry meet...?"

Galning, never the most mature of lions, could not help but be amused by the lioness's reaction to his sudden appearance. It was comical, for goodness sake! She'd actually cried out and then fallen over, and while he knew it was not anything like a swoon, if he ever had a reason to tell the tale of this encounter, he would definitely be telling it like she had swooned.

"No. Actually I almost never do. At least not on purpose. But I didn't know you were bathing. I just heard you singing this song that sounded just like what my heart feels like right now, and I had to see, well, who you were."

And although she was wet and perhaps a little bit debris-strewn, Galning now observed something else about this green lioness that he really ought to have recognized before. Being the generally outspoken lion he was, Galning did not see any reason to keep his realization to himself, and so announced for all to hear, "You're a priestess!"

He hastened to add, "Merry meet!" Whatever that meant.
