It was 1:00 on a chilly saturday afternoon and Damien was full of excitement. The little Zorua could barely control himself as he lept from the car and followed his "trainer" inside the building. Now, to you and I, this was strange. The store was just your run of the mill convenience store that sat on the corner of a strip mall. But to Damien, it was a place of magic and wonder. So many smells, shinies and objects to meander through without an end in sight, it was complete heaven! However, one thing remained fixated inside Damien's mind, a very serious and well thought question. This question being...
"Hey! Hey! Does this place have hot dogs?" Piped Damien from within the shampoo isle. The question was meant for his trainer, Justin, who had wandered away while Damien sniffed samples of apricot scrub and mint body wash. Hoping that his trainer wasn't too far away, Damien pranced from isle to isle in search of anyone who could tell him where the hot dogs were.

Kidd rode downwind to the convenience store on his brand new bicycle. Now, there was no way he could have afforded this on his salary. So, he went to Miracle Bikes, took one look at the $1,000,000 price tag, laughed hysterically, and asked to take it on a test drive. Which he did. A permanent test drive. I can't believe they're that gullible, he thought with a grin on his face.
He had Jubilee precariously perched on his handlebars, where she - no doubt - asked many questions. "What is this? Where did you get this? Where are we going?"
"One at a time, please. A bike. That's classified information. To the store. I'm on my last box of ramen, so I need to restock. There. That satisfy you?"
"No." She didn't like his tone. It sounded like he wasn't take her seriously at all. If she could, then she would have shocked him, like she saw his Raichu do. "What's a store?"
His bike screeched to a stop in front of the convenience store. "What? Are you kidding me? Do you live under a rock or something? No, wait, you did tell me you lived in the forest. Sorry about that. But don't your parents go shopping? Anyway, it's that." He pointed to the building right in front of them.
She ignored his question in favor of jumping off the handlebars and playing with the automatic door. "I've never seen anything like this before. Open. Close. Open. Close. Open. Clo--"
He grabbed her wrist and dragged her inside. "Please stop that. How about you stay inside and pick something you want? Anything you want. I'll pay for it. How does that sound?"
She didn't understand everything he said, but she liked the idea of having whatever food she wanted. She nodded. "Good!"
After that, she ran to the meat section where she saw something she couldn't identify. "They look kind of like Diglett." She picked up the plastic package that read, "Koegel Hot Dogs" and sniffed it. Then, she stuck her tongue out. "Ew! But they don't smell like them. What are these?" She looked around and realized Kidd wasn't around to answer her questions anymore. She didn't entirely trust the man, but she did like that he'd tell her whatever she wanted to know, even if she was suspicious about his answers.
She held the package over her head with both hands and went to look for him. Unfortunately, she ended up getting distracted by the pretty smelling aisle with a Zorua in it. "Are these berries? They smell like them." Then, she squealed and said, "I wonder if there're Oran Berries here! I love those!"

"Hot dogs, hot dogs, hot dooogs..." Damien muttered intently. However, he paused a moment and sighed. He was staring at the very same bottle of mint body wash he had been smelling three minutes prior. "What the..." he stammered. "I was just here..." He sat, silenced by his confusion, until he saw someone else enter the isle. His ears stood at attention as he looked the girl over. Then, he jumped up onto a shelf that was level with her eyes and smiled.
"Hey!" He exclaimed, tilting his head to one side. "You're part Pokemon, but you're human too! How did you get like that?"

Jubilee set the package of hot dogs on the floor and kneeled down next to it, so she could be at eye level with the little Zorua. While she thought, she looked up, pursed her lips, and touched her face. She had to think far back. She remembered herself as a Raichu in a forest. Then, she remembered a shooting star. That was the last thing she could recall before ending up like she was now. "Hmmm, I think it was because of a star."

"A star...?" Damien repeated, his eyes wide with wonder. He didn't know that stars could turn Pokemon into humans! The idea was both exciting and startling to the little Zorua. Then, his curiosities peaked again.
"How did you find the star?" He asked, eager to learn more about the event.

"You're cute and you ask hard questions." Jubilee winced and gave herself noogies in hope that it would jog her memory. Then, she got a lightbulb moment and she opened her eyes. "Let's see. I remember it was night. It was hot out. The sky was really dark and I could see everything up there. Like everything. Like even the things you normally can't see. The star was one of them. It just got bigger and bigger and bigger..." She gestured with her arms wide apart to show how big it was. Or that she thought it was. "...and then, it was right in front of me. I never saw a star up close like that. It looked like a big white shiny rock." She didn't think her description did it justice, but she couldn't find the words to describe it.
Then, she bent down closer to the Zorua. She realized that she hadn't had a chance to ask him anything, yet. "Hey, wait, do you come here often? This is my first time here. I don't even know what anything is." She poked at the hot dog package next to her. "Like are these really tiny Diglett?"

Damien looked like he was listening to the greatest story in the world. He couldn't believe what he was hearing! An enormous star falling from the sky that turns Pokemon into humans! His heart raced with excitement, he couldn't wait until night time! Then, maybe he'd catch one of those stars! The thought was just too cool!
He was just going to ask how shiny the star was when the girl asked him a question. Blue eyes followed her finger as she poked the package of hot dogs, and in an instant, he had jumped on top of the package.
"HOT DOGS!" He squealed, briefly forgetting Jubilee's question. "I have been looking EVERY WHERE for these!" In the midst of his celebrating, his attention popped back to Jubilee, remembering her question. "No, no." He said, shaking his head. "These are hot dogs and they are not made of Diglett. Or dogs. I think... But they taste really good with ketchup, relish and mustard! Plus, you can wrap them in BREAD! Cool right?"

Jubilee smiled at his reaction. She never thought her story was all that interesting, so all that attention made her happy. She felt like she was famous.
"Whoa!" She threw her hands up when she saw him dive on top of the package. "Hot dogs! So that's what they're called! You can have them. I'll ask Kidd to get me another one." She stopped and tried to picture one wrapped in bread, instead sandwiched in between two slices. "Ooh, I agree! That is cool! I love bread." She thought of toast by itself or with jelly and of bologna sandwiches with ketchup and mustard, and drooled.

"Bread has to be one of the best inventions EVER!" Damien exclaimed, nodding with the utmost certainty. "Next to hot dogs of course. But bread is certainly up there with the best inventions ever made! How would we make pastrami sandwiches or Rubens OR EVEN PIZZA! We couldn't make pizza without dough, and dough is what you use to make bread! Bread is awesome!" He smiled, thinking of all the wonderful foods that could be made with bread. "I wish we had some garlic knots..." He muttered, daydreaming about Italian food.

"I agree! Hey, does your trainer cook a lot, Mr. --" She stopped and tried to think of his name. She became embarrassed when she realized she did not know it, yet. "What's your name? Mine is Jubilee."
She had no idea what garlic knots were, but he made them sound heavenly. She already liked Italian food, even if her only experiences with it, so far, were from ramen noodle flavor packets and delivery pizza. "I'd like to share those with you. They sound delicious."
