TEAM HUNGRY'S SMORGASBORD SANDCASTLE. originalTEAM MEMBERS: Holly [elvyralani], Zurine [JetAlmeara], Circe [~Kiana_Nala~], El Greco [Euphoric Ghost] GENERAL SANDCASTLE STATS TOTAL HP: 0 TOTAL OFFENSE +6 TOTAL DEFENSE: +8 TOTAL STABILITY: 1 ENVIRONMENT ITEMS USED: Pool of Water, Seaweed, Tiny Hermit Crab x2, Sand Dollar SIGNATURE and BONUS items Real Fake Bird. HOLY CRAP! It's a real fake bird! DAILY STATUS EFFECT DAILY STATUS EFFECT MARCH 10th FINAL FAMINE TRIALS DAY
While most structures were still standing, if not by the last dregs of their manufacturers' energy, the booming voice from the loudspeaker nearly did away with them all. Nearly.
"They have survived onslaughts of horrible monsters, they have survived natural disasters, but can the students survive the last wave." A poignant moment of silence. "The kraken."
At this point, some of the students, who were still half-wading in the water, might have looked at the spectator booth in the distance with something of a look of disbelief, or just outright confusion. Wasn't a kraken some sort of- Oh.Perhaps it was the fact that each team had exactly one tentacle that had to reach at least five times their sandcastle's height looming at them, or perhaps that it was that sheer slow, sinking feeling as they realized that oh wait a second, in order to have that happen, that means the creature must surround the entire island. Whatever it was, as most groups looked up, at the shadow of death that hovered over them, they felt a strange feeling from within the very essence of their Fear, a tugging, a heartfelt belonging as if they were bonded to their teammates together and forever- - by horror.OOC MECHANICS: THE KRAKEN - Please note the "KRAKEN" does indeed surround the entire island. Each of its arms/tentacles is large enough to destroy exactly three and a half sandcastles. APPLYING PRIOR DAMAGE AND ITEMS FIRST:- APPLYING DAMAGE: Before any groups continue on to the boss, they should make sure that their sandcastle survived last round. If your group DID NOT achieve 10/15/20 full foundation points as requested by number of team members, they take 50% damage of REMAINING HP to their castle. Apply this damage before you begin the kraken boss mechanics. - EXAMPLE: My team has a group of 4. I need 15/15 stability points, but my team only managed 13/15. Our castle has 50/150 HP. I take -25 damage. That means our castle has 25/150 HP left. - USING AN ITEM: If your team has NOT USED their SEA TURTLE or PEARL, they may choose to use it now. The SEA TURTLE will automatically be used whenever your HP dips to 0, but please make sure to note it in the main post of the thread. IF you choose to use the pearl now, apply the HP fix before the boss wave, otherwise you will have to calculate boss damage first and then, if your castle is standing, you can use the pearl. You cannot use either of the items during the boss fight, only either before (now) or after it.BONUS CASTLE STATS: A clam. THE CLAM STANDS STRONG AGAINST THE KRAKEN. Instead of rolling whatever is stated below, your character can instead, choose to roll 2d20s. Same mechanics as below apply otherwise though. Mr. Starfish. Mr. Starfish has absorbed enough water and grown up to five times his size! +50 HP HEALED TO YOUR CASTLE, PLEASE APPLY BEFORE BOSS FIGHT. Real Fake Bird. The real fake bird really looks up, not fearing death-ah. -50% damage done from the kraken PER ATTACK THE STUDENTS DO. Bucket of Water. The bucket of water causes the kraken's tentacles to become smooth and moist. +1 INSTANT RECOVERY BACK TO 50% HP if your castle goes down AT ANY POINT during this fight. You can only use this once that means if your hp dips back to 0 even after this recover, it does nothing. Plank of Wood. The plank of wood blocks some of the effects of the tide! All players attacks do +2 extra damage PER ATTACK THEY DO (not the boss to castle, only themselves to boss). Red Herring. The Red Herring swims back, and it has brought all of its friends, from China, Russia, and Arizona, but not really Canada, cuz like, even though its flag may be red and stuff, its not really a communist, how could you even accuse such an awesome country?! You're just jealous you're not a communist Canadian aren't you well you know what-
- Okay I derailed sorry. It brings back its friends and recovers your castle back to full HP. This mechanic must be used PRIOR TO THE BOSS FIGHT. BOSS FIGHT PART ONE: ROLLING THE BOSS'S HP: - ONE PERSON (THE FIRST PERSON) IN YOUR GROUP must roll for the boss. PLEASE ROLL AND USE THIS FORM BELOW TO CALCULATE THE BOSS'S HP. Please post this form in an "EXCLAMATION" post style as a "boss mob" in your own thread. You don't need to edit the first post, just post it in t he thread as a boss mob. You can even come up with some fun flavour text like "Steve the kraken tentacle waved its tentacle around". - Please note all characters have full recovered HP at this point in time. The Sandcastle's HP is not recovered unless by the mechanics seen above aka, STUDENTS have full recovered HP, not necessary their castle okay. *** ROLL 4 20-sided dice. ADD THIS TO THE BOSS'S BASE HP POOL OF 100. THIS IS THE BOSS'S HP*** THE KRAKEN'S HP: DICE ROLL/ DICE ROLL
((OOC: BONUS MECHANICS: - PLEASE LIST HERE YOUR MASCOT'S BONUS MECHANIC SO ALL PLAYERS CAN SEE. For example, if you have the bird, and you take 50% less damage to the boss, please note it here so that everyone knows to apply that 50% damage mechanic upon their damage tallies per post
** RP IN THIS PORTION your character as they watch the the kraken come in to attack their castle, IN HORROR. **
BOSS FIGHT PART 2: KILLING THE BOSS - Disregard normal attack mechanics and please use these mechanics below. DO NOT APPLY a "miss" ratio (ie: don't subtract six) - If you are a group of 3, you are rolling 2d12. If you are a group of 4, you are rolling 2d10. If you are a group of 5, you are rolling 2d8. - Your first dice roll determines the damage you do to the boss. Your second dice roll determines the the damage the boss does in relatiation TO YOUR OWN CASTLE. - FOR EXAMPLE: I have a group of 5. I roll 2d8, a 6 and a 7. I do 6 damage to the boss, and the boss does 7 damage to my castle. - All damage done from the boss does not hit the students but INSTEAD THE SANDCASTLE. - Make sure to use the form below while posting, so that everyone can figure out what your CURRENT sandcastle's HP is with this mechanic added. - IF YOU DO NOT DEFEAT THE BOSS, it will berserk and take out your entire sandcastle's HP at the very end, not even a sea turtle can save you. - Each student is only allowed to have 6 rolls total. - ONCE THE BOSS's HP HAS HIT 0, you guys have made it! HOORAY. - IF your castle's HP hits 0, ouch! You instantly lost!
- PLEASE USE THE FORM BELOW TO POST FOR FIGHTING THE BOSS (all characters) : *** ROLL 2d12 for groups of 3, 2d10 for groups of 4, 2d8 for groups of 5 ***
** RP OUT YOUR RESULT, you can edit this later, make sure to match your dice roll to the results above**
((OOC: Your damage done: Damage here (first dice roll) Damage boss does to your castle: Damage here (second dice roll) Turns used: Turns here /6 REMAINING HP OF BOSS: Look at the post before yours and apply as necessary! REMAINING HP OF CASTLE: Look at the post before yours and apply as necessary!
))
BONUS: GOING DOWN WITH A BANG If your sandcastle falls rather dramatically thanks to either being unable to defeat the boss or the boss literally sinking your castle, please edit your sandcastle to its beautiful vandalised image. Doing so might earn you some interesting group bonus points.

So they had to build a sand castle...it was certainly an unconventional trial Zurine thought to herself as she followed along with the rest of the teammates to what was to be the castle building zone. Still..it could be worse right? I mean building a sand castle was almost sort of fun and after hearing all the doom and gloom stories about horrible, terrible, death dealing field trips and the like it really seemed rather benign. They ought to consider themselves lucky.
So far.
Zurine reminded herself, giving a gnome a blank look when he tugged on her arm and handed her a ...fake bird, a real fake bird. What was she supposed to do with that? Oh well it would look cool on the castle right? Picking up a trot to catch up with the rest of her team she waved the fake bird.
"Hey guys! The gnomes gave us a bird, a real fake bird...I guess it can live in the castle..or something"

Circe's exuberance for this event had severely taken a hit when they finally arrived at the beach that day. Her nerves were getting the better of her due to the last 'field trip' she had taken which had been a death trap. Almost literally. As they made their way down the path to their allotted area Circe stuck close to Elle's side, hoping his almost calm demeanor would somehow rub off on her. Then she noticed that they had lost a team member. Zurine. Turning her head she found that the ghoul was apparently being handed something though she was unsure as to what.
When they finally reached their location and Zurine had reappeared she smiled. "So we get to play in the sand for this?!" She almost jumped for joy. It was in no way dangerous, right? "That bird can be our princess!" Circe said, looking at her other team members. It seemed like they would be more then okay for this challenge even though they hadn't won the bonus item. Circe was proud to say she was on this team.
Her black eyes eventually made their way to two tiny hermit crabs that were making their way across the sand. "Maybe they can be the knights. Or the servents." She said, picking one up in each hand and looking at her team members for confirmation.

Sand castles, really? Then again, could she really be that surprised. Holly was completely ready for this to backfire and try to kill them all. But how harmless could sand be. It was Jacking hot out too. If the sand didn't kill them surely the heat would. Glad she was dead already. So they had to pick some stuff, decorate and what not.
Holly blinked as she looked at the bird Zurine got. "Well, true, could stick it somewhere. Does look pretty life like doesn't it." As real as a fake bird could look.
The ghoul rose a brow. Princess? Great. The crabs were pretty awesome though. "Those look like they could do some damage, they can guard the gate." Castle's had gates right?
She went off and looked some something to contribute. Well. There was water everywhere so how about that. Holly returned with a bucket of water. "So, we could do a moat or a pond."
"Did we have to name this ... sand castle too?" What in Jack's name would they name it.

El Greco couldn't hold his shape in excitement, at times, he would be somewhat translucent, revealing the bones beneath all the flesh, well, err, slime. The ghost hasn't been out of the academy for a while now, and he felt that he deserved to see some of the sceneries beyond the school walls. But he didn't mind. He hadn't really noticed the passage of time while he painted and photographed.
He hadn’t noticed a lot of things. He seemed to have failed to notice he was surrounded by ghouls, and would have taken no time flirting with at least one of them, but he held himself back for the team’s sake. He didn’t even notice the two new crab companions, and the imitation counterfeit avian. This was a busy little boil.
His hands were curved like shovels. He was digging up mounds around their castle. From what he has seen in the thousands pictures of castles, there was always a moat of some sort.

Zurine beamed as she looked at bird "Princess Featherbutt" She dubbed it with a bit of a laugh, I mean if they were going to build a sand castle they might as well have fun doing it right?
"Good plan" She told Holly when she returned with the bucket of water "All good castles have moats" she agreed "And need knight's" She added with a nod towards the crabs, glancing about for something else that might come in handy. A smallish round object caught her attention and picking it up she shrugged "Can use this sand dollar to help shore up one of the sides, maybe keep the water from eroding it somewhere or something" She suggested, if nothing else it would make a pretty decoration to add somewhere.

Princess Featherbutt. Princess Featherbutt? Princess Featherbutt?!
Quickly, he stood. With a hand and a finger up to object as he looked up at his comrades, he opened his mouth. But spoke none. He was outnumbered; 3 ghouls to a boil. The end result of the recently acquired mascot was of course to be a princess.
So the self-appointed mason, serf and castle engineer continued to play, well sculpt, their defenses. He was reinforcing the walls and towers with seaweed for a more fibrous cohesiveness. Hopefully, it would be enough to protect them from whatever the trials brought them.
“Maybe it’s a sign,” popping his head up, “that we’re Team Hungry, and we’re doing the Famine trial, no?”

"Let's hope it's not that bad." Circe said, placing the two crabs on the other side of the moat so that they were enclosed. "I think it looks pretty." She said looking at Elle with a large grin on her face.
Her attention was turned towards the two ghouls on her team. "We should name it.... Smorgasbord!" The blonde headed reaper ghoul said excitedly, looking at their sandcastle. "It has all kinds of things in it and on it." She said as she further inspected Elle's work. "Is that a pirate?" She asked curiously before smiling. "Good job." Circe winked, giving him a thumbs up. Lucky boil now had her seal of approval.

Well, they seemed to be getting by well. The castle was looking like a castle and no sand monster had tried to eat anyone yet. So far so good.
Holly scoffed at the name for the bird. Even if it was a princess, the featherbutt part was pretty funny. For a few moments she stood there and just watched as the one boil in the group went to town on actually building the thing. Again she went off and found something washing up on shore. "So far so good then. I found this green stuff..." What was this stuff called??? "Seaweed, yeah, could use it too somewhere, maybe can help sturdy it."
She nodded in agreement. "A fitting name I think!"

The ghost gave the ghoul-with-black-eyes a “thumbs up” in return. It was nice being appreciated for his hard work, even though it was just a small gesture. He had spent most of his time in school making art that he had actually barely showed any of it to anyone, save for his pets.
“You could say it’s a pirate, I sculpted the skull for intimidation.”
The slimer turned to the fellow ghost, or some kind of spirit.
“Speaking of names, I never got yours, Holly right?” The boil dusted his hands and stretched out one towards her. “I’m El Greco.”

The castle looked great as far as Zurine was concerned ""Smorgasbord is a great name" She agreed brushing some sand off of her hands and clothing as it was announced that the building period was over and they were allowed to go walking around if they desired.
"I think I'll stay here" She told her companions "Someone ought to stay behind and make sure nothing happens to the castle" She added, though she wasn't exactly sure why they had been asked to build the castle she was fairly certain that it would important somehow and it simply wouldn't do for it to be damaged by some wandering visitor while they were off looking at the competition.

Again she nodded. Skulls were good, nice and halloweeny. Holly realized too she hadn't introduced herself properly to the boil either. "Yep, Holly. Good you meet you El Greco." She looked him up and down, just for a moment before shaking his hand. "What kind of ghost are ya? I'm a fox spirit myself." Her tail swayed for a moment.
"I'll stay here too, there are a lot of spectators, I'll help guard it too." She waited to see if anyone would come to admire their castle.

[Exiting to look at other sand castles]
Circe watched as Elle and Holly got introduced and then looked to Zurine who stated that she would be staying behind for a while. And then Holly wanted to, too. Circe on the other hand was more then excited to see the other teams creations and meet with them too if she was lucky. Maybe she would see a couple of her friends. "I think I'm going to go look at the other sand castles." She said, turning back to Elle. "Do you want to go with me? Or do you want to stay here too?" She asked of the boil before turning and walking over to the path. Maybe today she would find that hunk of a man and flirt some. Surely he could not pass her up in her amazing swimsuit. Circe mentally decided that today she was the hottest thing to grace the beach.

[Exiting]
He flashed at the fox spirit, letting colors and shape of his clothes and his face melt to reveal black bones beneath the slime. He did a quick spin showing his near translucent form, and sculpted himself back to his previous form; a light-blonde boy with green eyes.
“A slimer,” he answered cheerily. “You’ll have to tell me how to survive in the academy as a fellow ghost; I’m sort of new still to the school.”
He turned to face the black-eyed one, and floated on towards her as he nodded.
“And I’ll go with Circe, maybe check the other castles or have a chat with the spectators.” He spun again, to face the fox spirit, and gave a slight bow, turned again to float beside Circe.

[Entering]
Circe had finally made her way back to her group's sandcastle and looked expectantly at it. Holly and Zurine had done a wonderful job protecting it. Though she wondered why they needed to protect it. Shrugging Circe made her way to the side of the sandcastle.
