Alex was stood outside of Yin's door, looking panicked, alarmed, and more disheveled then usual. In his current state of absolute <********> he didn't even think of the fact that he had an open invitation to Yin's bedroom and could go in anytime he wanted. All he could think of was how much he needed the weremantis at that moment, and he was praying to whatever gods reigned in hell that the mantodae was in as he began to frantically pound on the door with a fist, yelling his name. He didn't really care that other monsters in their rooms might hear the commotion, he just needed help, and he needed it right now.

Please be in, please be in, pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease. He thought to himself over and over again. His chest was tight with anxiety, and he used his free hand to grab a hold of the door frame and lean forward on before he collapsed in a dizzy heap as he continued to slam his fist rapidly against the door.
PostPosted: Mon Mar 05, 2012 5:09 pm

The pounding at the door and the yell of his name from the hallway quickly filtered to the weremantis, rousing both him and Princess Eva from their sleep. It was a panicking feeling to realize that it was his bonded's voice, though he could barely recognize it as he scrambled down from his perch and rushed to the door, grateful that there was no furniture to worry about tripping over. He tried the door, cursing inwardly as he realized he was in his natural form and his claws were not the best when it came to opening doors but he managed, not willing to take the time to shift now.

"Alexander?" He hissed and clacked at the zomboil, worried at the sight of him and looking down the hallway for signs of a threat. "What is wrong? Come in, whatever it is we can work it out." He reached out to try to pull the zomboil into his room, very much concerned with whatever would have caused him to show up now, in the middle of the night, and very much confused. His natural form was...also bad for pulling zomboils into his room though.

Alex could hear the movement on the other side of the door indicating that Yin was indeed in. If the zomboil had been thinking clearly, he might have realised that it was the middle of the night and of course Yin was going to be in, because he'd likely be fast asleep. He didn't stop beating his fist against the door, however, because panic was still overtaking him.

He could hear noises at the door now, and yet it wasn't opening. This was...quite upsetting to say the least and Alex actually reached out and turned the knob himself (which in turn may have made it seem like Yin had opened the door) and threw the door open wide.

Fortunatly, or unfortunatly, Alex was in such a state of emergency that it barely even registered that Yin was in his natural form, and not his humanoid one. Alexander was just too relieved to care, or be frightened of the imposing creature in front of him, and practically through himself into Yin's bedroom without needing any help along.

What's wrong? Everything was wrong! "She's going to burn my room down!" Alex burst out, turning now that he was in the room to face the weremantis. He was trembling, and now that he had made it to his destination, his legs gave out beneath him and he collapsed to the floor.

"She IS NOT a silverwing." He said as he buried his face into his hands. "Silverwings can't set things on fire."

He probably wasn't making much sense at the moment.

She was going to burn down his room? Who was going to burn down his room? This was all quite bizarre to the mantodae as he managed to flick the light on, pushing the door closed as he followed Alexander farther into the room. His bonded looked...scared. And that was not alright with him. Whatever was happening was important, and he would do absolutely whatever it took to make it better.

Alexander had put his face in his hands, and Yin took the opportunity to shift back to his humanoid form, sinking down next to the zomboil and hesitantly reaching out to grab him by the shoulders. "Alexander what is going on? Who is trying to burn down your room?" His voice was worried, but it also had a somewhat hard edge to it as he thought about what he was going to do to her. Whoever she was. Had he said something about a silverwing? That word sounded familiar though it had not entirely clicked.

At least it did not until there was a curious and confused noise coming from the little pet bed in the corner and Fei began trying to toddle his way toward him. Wait...silverwing? As in..."Are you talking about your vaisel?" He asked, voice now more full of confusion than anything else.

Alexander felt Yin's warm hands on his shoulders and instantly leaned into him, removing one hand from his face to clutch at the other boil as though he were some kind of lifeline. He was still trembling, though it was beginning to subside as he let himself be comforted by Yin's nearness. Everything was going to be ok now, it was going to be alright, because Yin was going to fix it.

"She...she..the winged one. I dunno I never actually named her!" His voice cracked. Though in his mind he had named her. She would forever be dubbed to Alex as 'The Winged Terror'.

With the rest of Yin's words Alex began nodding rapidly. "Yes of course. What else would I be talking about? She's not a silverwing, Yin. She's one of those other ones. Those..fire ones." He suddenly shuddered hard, eyes squeezing shut behind his hand as though it would help shut everything out. Though he didn't necessarily need to, Alex took a couple of deep, calming breaths to help calm himself down. Once he was feeling slightly more clear headed, he tried again.

"She grew, not that long ago. I think it's because my room is so cold and she didn't like it. She grew and she's...setting things on..f...fire...in my room. My other pets are all terrified. We have to get her out of there before she causes real damage." He said it slowly, thinking about each word, though stumbling over the part about fire. Alex was totally aware of how pathetic this all sounded, how embarrassing and ridiculous this entire situation probably seemed to Yin. But it wasn't like that for Alex. This was a matter of undeath and final death to the zombie.

"Please help me..." He said, rather quietly, voice strained.

It seemed bizarre that the tiny little kitten they had brought back the other day could today be the source of so many problems. Alexander seemed to be calming down a little bit, but he was also so worked up about it, and so scared as well. And Yin hated it. Alexander should never have to feel or look like this, and he would go take care of things for him. Fire when properly handled was not too big of a deal, and if it would help this situation...

Alexander was explaining what had happened now, about how she had evolved and he had forgotten to press B grown into some sort of fire creature and was now a fire hazard in his own room. And here the zomboil was in his room, trusting him to take care of everything. "Of course I will take care of this." He was quick to assure him, squeezing his shoulders lightly because he was fairly certain that the zomboil would be reassured by the action. "Everything will be fine. I shall go to your room and remove her and you do not need to worry about it any longer. I will not allow her to harm you. No one will harm you." He was pretty dead set on that. If he could prevent it nothing would harm the zomboil, and this was certainly something he could deal with.

He took away his hands and stood, starting for the door before a thought dawned on him and he turned, an apologetic look on his face. "Alexander, I know that you may not wish to go back right now but...I do not know the way to your room."

Funnily enough, it was Yin's words that finally started to make the zomboil feel better. Not the deep, un-necessary breathing, not clinging to the weremantis desperately, not even the feel of the soft squeeze on his shoulder, though it may have helped just a little. Just those reassuring words, that held no judgement and didn't make Alex feel like a complete pansy for being afraid of something so small. And he was just saying all the right things, about how he would take care of it, and everything, and how he wouldn't allow the fire creature to harm him.

Alex slowly began to relax, his trembling beginning to cease, his grip on Yin loosening as his hand fell down to his lap and Yin stood up to leave. He took his other hand from his face, wanting to say 'please don't leave yet!' mostly because he didn't want to be alone. Once he was alone again there would be no distraction away from the memories of what had just happened.

As it turned out, however, he wouldn't be alone. Realization dawned on the zomboil suddenly that Yin had never been to his room. It was cold, and messy, and...well, he just never considered it a welcome place to hold company so he'd always opted to come and see Yin rather then invite the weremantis to the undead dorm.

But going with Yin meant going back to the room. He hesitated, wanting very much to tell Yin that no, they weren't going back there. He would stay here tonight and they could deal with it later. But no, this had to be done now, before any damage could be done to his room, or his pets, or the dorm itself. He nodded slowly, and said "Ya...right...ok..." in a very strained voice, before pushing himself awkwardly to his feet and shuffling over to Yin. Without even asking or wondering if it would be ok, he reached over and grabbed the other boils hand, putting his other hand on top of Yin's as well so he was holding it in both of his. It was totally just a comfort thing, nothing more, and it made him feel like a complete coward.

"Let's just get it over with then." He cringed, looking at the ground, ready to show Yin the way to his room.

"It will work out Alexander." Even though they were at school Yin was...okay with his hand being held. The second hand over his was pushing it, but considering everything he was fine with it. Beside that, it was the middle of the night, most students would probably safely be tucked in their beds. They went slowly down the hallway, and Yin remained mostly silent as they passed by rooms, not wanting to wake anyone up.

It was not until they were outside that he really spoke up again, trying not to shiver in the cooler night air though his hand certainly felt cold. "Do not worry about actually going into your room Alexander, if you can just point me to the right door once we are in sight I can take care of it. As soon as you do that you can go outside or wherever you are the most comfortable." He rather hoped that this would go smoothly. The vaisel knew him at least, so perhaps she would not run from him. As sociable as she was it was entirely likely that she might come to him when he opened the door.

"Alexander I...I am really very happy that you trusted me enough to come to get me. I shall try my best not to disappoint you."

Alex nodded, still gripping Yin's hand probably tighter then was strictly necessary. He was so incredibly grateful that he had such an understanding, helpful, and non-judgmental boilfriend at this moment that it was almost enough to make him forget about everything else.

Almost.

He also kept quiet as they passed the other dorm rooms, though he was sure he'd already woken up half the hallway when he first arrived, banging on Yin's door and calling the other boils name.

Once they were outside the cool air seemed to clear Alex's head a little, and he moved the hand he had covering Yin's away and back to his side, and even loosened his grip with his other hand a little bit. "Ok." he said, quietly, fully agreeing that going into his own room now was probably not the best idea. At least, not until he was sure the coast was clear, anyways.

"You...what are you going to do with her? You won't hurt her, will you?" He asked, suddenly. It was true that her newly grown form was not something the zomboil could handle, but she was a good vaisel. She was so friendly and playful, and in the two days Alex had her he had actually grown quite fond of the little ghoul. Just because she was different now, in a way that Alex couldn't handle...in a way that he couldn't have her around his other pets or near his things because of what she could do....

"I--Of course I'd come to you! I'd trust you with anything!" Alex was a little taken aback by Yin's last comment, and the zomboil might have looked slightly appalled at the notion of ever being disappointed in Yin. The weremantis could never disappoint him, he was sure of it!
PostPosted: Wed Mar 07, 2012 9:16 am

"Of course I shall not harm her," he assured the zomboil, hastily putting any thoughts he had had of an easily caught midnight snack out of his mind. "For now I shall concentrate on getting her out of your room and we can decide what to do with her later." She was Alexander's pet after all, and that meant that she should get some consideration.

But what really got his attention was Alexander's declaration. He could not help but feel almost ridiculously happy. Alexander trusted him. He would come to him for anything. This had not been some "well I guess I shall go to Yin because it is convenient," occurrence, Alexander trusted him to help with his problem. This was certainly worth getting up oin the middle of the night for. And at least with all of the excitement he had been jolted fully awake.

He had the most ridiculous urge to lean his head against the zomboil's shoulder as they walked, or to do something, though he did not know what. But it was a rather ridiculous notion as he was already chilled and the zomboil would likely just make it worse. So he merely looked over (and up) and the zomboil and quite simply said "thank you." The Undead dorms were in sight now and that pleased him. Soon he was going to be able to do something actually useful for his bonded.

It made Alex feel better to have Yin say that he wouldn't harm her. He was honestly scared for a moment that the other boil might have been intending on eating her or something, which would be probably the most expensive snack the weremantis was likely to get, ever. Alex was already thinking more along the lines of taking her back to the pet store and getting a full refund. He nodded again, content to let Yin remove her from his room for now and figure out what to do with her later.

There was something in the way that Yin said 'thank you' that made the zomboil glance down at him, only to see Yin looking up at him. All of his worries seemed to just vanish just for that instant, and he found himself unable not to smile at the other boil, though once their gazes broke he turned his head to see the undead dorms looming up in front of them, and his stomach began to twist with anxiety once more.

"We should have brought you something warm." He realised, suddenly, that it would probably be much cooler down in Alex's room then Yin was used to. Though with the vaisel in there it might not be as cold as usual, but Alex wasn't thinking coherently enough to come to that conclusion. "Like a blanket or something. I'm sorry I didn't think of this sooner..." He felt a bit awful now, since he had asked Yin to do this for him, and it was going to cause the weremantis a lot of discomfort.

As they reached the doors, he let go of Yin's hand and turned towards him, "If it's too cold for you, or if you change your mind, I'll understand. I don't want you to get hurt just for my sake..."
PostPosted: Wed Mar 07, 2012 2:06 pm

Alexander had actually smiled, so Yin was fairly confident that he could get everything back to normal. At least, he was feeling fairly confident until Alexander began to talk about him needing something for warmth. If with all that was going on that was what the zomboil was worried about then...it did not bode well. It would probably be fine. Unless the Undead dormitory was like a...giant cooling box like at Alexander's house, he would probably be fine. And it was just going to be a simple in and out mission, and he would just keep moving to try to generate a bit of warmth. Yes, everything would be fine. Probably.

He was so wrapped up in those thoughts that only the feeling of Alexander's hand leaving his and seeing the zomboil stop out of the corner of his eye made him stop, turning so that they were completely facing each other as Alexander addressed him. Alexander was giving him an out. A chance to say that he did not want to face the the trials of the cold inside the building or his room, whatever the case may be. But what it really came down to, for Yin at least, was whether he was going to face the cold, something that he was highly uncomfortable with and it was rather dangerous, to remove something that terrified his bonded. And there was really no choice between the two.

"Alexander it will be fine," he promised. "All I need for you to do is walk me in far enough to point out your room and then you can come back here if you wish, but I am not changing my mind. I shall just go in and get her and come back out." With that he reached for the door to open it, rather hoping that the way to Alexander's room was not quite as convoluted as the way to his own.

Yin was still willing to go through with it, and a feeling of extreme relief flooded the zomboil."Ok, lets go then." He tried to sound optimistic, like everything would be ok, "It's really not that bad, not until you get to the lower levels where my room is." Though Alex actually was not the best judge of what might be considered cold or freezing to another, so Yin would have to be the judge on how bad it actually was.

Indeed, as they walked into the dorm itself, the temperature was possibly slightly warmer then it was outside, though not really by much. Alex led the weremantis straight onwards, passing the common room, which may have had a few late night non-sleeping lurkers hanging about. The halls were still alive (harhar) with activity, and some students may have looked up and waved at the passing pair before going off to do whatever they were doing.

At the end of the hall, Alex turned and started down a flight of stairs, slouching along, each step taking them further down underground and into the cooler air below. They kept on with this dissent for some time, before, Alex stopped and pushed open and door to the side, and began the long walk down to near the other end of the hallway (thankfully, this one was empty at the moment). As they got closer and closer to their destination, the zomboil may have slowed down a bit, stopping completely and pointing to a door. Was that...smoke tricking out from beneath it?

"I--In there." He pointed to the door, the site of the smoke jolting him back into this more panicked state. He didn't want to leave Yin alone, however, so he closed his eyes, taking a deep, calming breath before saying. "She's probably just lighting small pieces of paper right now..that's what she was doing when I left...well, they were smoldering, I didn't wait around to see the result. I'm going to wait by the stairs." He opened his eyes finally, turning to stare at Yin, using the other boil as a welcome distraction.

"Thank you so much for doing this, Yin." He tried to smile, couldn't, and instead nodded at the weremantis before trudging off to hide wait by the door that led back to the stairwell.
PostPosted: Wed Mar 07, 2012 3:48 pm

Walking into the building was a relief. Instead of the blast of frosty air he had been expecting the air was merely cool. They passed by a few students that seemed to look familiar, though no one that Yin really knew. He nodded to those who waved, but he was content to move along at as fast a pace as he could with the zomboil, more than ready to get back to his own room and actual warmth. Then came the stairs. Alexander was not the fastest at going down the stairs, and the descent truly felt like torture more than anything else. Agonizingly slow steps that just got colder and colder the farther he went down. This was for Alexander. He was going down for Alexander. The zomboil needed this.

Finally Alexander pointed toward a door, Yin’s eyes following the direction until he thought he saw a curl of smoke. ”I shall return shortly,” he said as he started for the door. No. Really. It was much to cold to linger right now, it would be a short trip. And actually…the smoke was rather nice to see, if there was a fire in the room he might not freeze.

Opening the door however revealed a room that could have belonged in any house of horror. He paused, stunned, as he began to look around. He may have expected some mess in the zomboil’s frenzy to get out of his room but not this. Never in his worst nightmares had he imagined this. It was rather upsetting really as he surveyed the filthy room, fingers all but itching to pick up bits of trash or to at least put some of the clothes in a hamper. And there, between the door and the rest of the room, surrounded by a nest of burned and smoldering papers (almost all having a curious symbol that looked like an A+), was the vaisel, gazing up at him in adoration and tail swishing happily.

Alexander needed this vaisel. It was apparently the only way trash would ever leave his room.

Yin could not blame the poor thing at all, this was just wrong. He reached down to scoop her up and she went to him willingly, though an ember may have fell on his shirt and burned a tiny hole. She was delightfully warm, and seemed to be rather happy that he was warmer than the room was as she cuddled against his chest. He made sure that nothing other than the papers were on fire, and they were going out now that she had been removed. He was not sure but he could almost feel adoring gazes from other parts of the room as he stepped back with her in his arms and started back toward the zomboil.

When this was all over with something was going to be done about that room. One could not…should not live in such a state. Alexander may have been waiting for him…but he had a fiery vaisel in his hands. ”If you wish to check on your room I shall meet you upstairs,” he informed him before scurrying upstairs, trying to get back to a tiny level of warmth. The vaisel in his arms helped but he could still feel the cold sinking into him.

Alex waited by the door way to the stairwell, hands shoved back in his pockets as he hobble paced back and forth from when wall of the hallway to the other, glancing up at the door to his room often, and cringing when Yin first went inside as more smoke billowed forth from the bedroom. It really wasn't long at all before Yin was back out with the vaisel in his arms, and despite everything, Alex was glad to see that she was okay and looked fairly happy snuggling into Yin's chest. Alex stopped his pacing, moving out of the way as Yin went by.

Alex thought that he probably should check on his room, even if he didn't want to. Swallowing hard, he slowly shuffled his way back down the hallway, deciding a quick look surely wouldn't hurt. And Yin wouldn't have told Alex to check on the room if there was a fire in there, surely.

As he approached the door, he shuffled all the slower, and eventually took a quick peek inside. The blackened papers on the floor caused a shudder to wrack his body, and the trembling that had finally stopped began anew. But there was no fire, and most of the smoke seemed to have cleared out now that the door was opened. He made his way into the room, only to be greeted by a horde of pets who came out of hiding to scramble around his legs, demanding comfort and attention from their owner. He bent down to scratch each one behind the ears, then straightened. Everything was okay. The vaisel was gone. Yin had done what he'd promised and now every thing was going to be fine.

Still a bit shaky, Alex finally shambled over to his desk with his laptop, grabbing the pamphlet he had taken from the pet store two days before and making his way back out of the messy room, shutting the door firmly behind him. He then made his way back down the hallway, and up the lengthy flight of stairs to where Yin was, presumably, waiting for him.

Once he made it to the top of the stairs, and had pushed his way into the main hallway once more, where Yin was waiting.

With the winged terror in his arms.

Alex tried not to look at her, because it just brought back to many awful memories, so he opted to look at Yin's face instead. "What now? I mean...we should probably take her back to the store...but I can't exactly do that right this minute."
