Basics :: xxxxxName: Amias xxxxxNickname(s): Mias, Mimi xxxxxFaction: Spades xxxxxAge: xxxxxHeight: 5'2" xxxxxBody Type: Skeletal/atrophied
Poké-basics :: xxxxxPokemon: Baltoy xxxxxPokemon type: Psychic/Ground xxxxxNatural Ability: Levitation xxxxxPerma: No - evolve to Claydol xxxxxMoveset: Teleport: Use it to flee from any wild Pokémon. It can also warp to the last Pokémon Center visited. Power split: The user employs its psychic power to average its Attack and Sp. Atk stats with those of the target's. Heal block: For five turns, the user prevents the opposing team from using any moves, Abilities, or held items that recover HP. Earth Power: The user makes the ground under the target erupt with power. It may also lower the target's Sp. Def.
Personality :: xxxxxPositive Traits Mnemonic Amias is a very quick learner, and easily solves problems with a logical approach. He is perceptive which makes him extremely difficult to trick or fool. Every fact, detail, or book he picks up seem to stay in his memory forever. Thanks to Amias's attention to detail as well as his impressive memory, no challenge is nearly as difficult the second or third time around.
There are only a few concepts Amias has trouble conceiving; Humor, sarcasm and emotional displays. He believes he has a good understanding of body language, but it is much more complex and subjective than he realizes. This may cause some social encounters to be very awkward (unbeknownst to him) especially when he can easily mistake a flirtatious look for a confrontational glare... or vice versa.
Honest "You have my word surer than there are eyes on my face." Amias has witnessed the punishments that come with dishonesty and failure. The physical punishments aren't quite what frighten him, but rather the loss of trust and companionship. With what little friends he has, he can't afford to lose one by making a mistake as minor yet serious as lying. Amias puts all of his effort into keeping his word, fulfilling promises, being honest, and committing himself to his duties.
Amias tries hard not to dedicate himself to promises that conflict with prior commitments, but sometimes it is impossible. He has so much dedication for his faction that his responsibilities can drive him to betray a friend. When this happens, Amias doesn't express reluctance despite the regret he feels, and distances himself from the friend. When he makes a mistake like this, his pessimism leads him to assume the friendship is damaged beyond repair. If ever he is proven wrong, if a friendship is mended despite his blunders, Amias will be encouraged and strive to maintain all of his relationships this way.
xxxxxNeutral Traits Strange "For an occasion as special as this, I believe we deserve an extra biscuit with our tea... don't you think, Rockburt?" Amias craves companionship but due to his alienating behavior and his introverted tendencies he often finds himself alone. Being alone so often has lead him to develop eccentricities, such as talking to himself or having one-sided conversations with the rocks and pebbles he likes to levitate around with him. Over time, he may become convinced that they are his best companions; after all, they never disagree.
Talking with his imaginary friends may inadvertently help him develop social skills, especially if he grows nutty enough that those nonexistent friends start giving him intelligent responses. Consequently, spending so much time with his imaginary friends could prevent him from going out and actually socializing. That might not be too much of a problem if his imaginary friends convince him it's healthy to go out once in a while.
xxxxxNegative Traits Prejudiced "Don't even bother trying to understand... You're not capable of it." Amias has a bad habit of compartmentalizing new people and treating them according to that stereotype. For example, all fire types must be unpredictable pyromaniacs, all grass types must be peaceful vegetarians and so forth. He may fail to recognize the value of individuality in each person he meets, and even express a certain level of hostility towards particular stereotypes... Even when that stereotype fails to accurately depict the person.
Any relationship Amias develops, if deep and genuine enough, has the potential of teaching him how inaccurate and dangerous stereotyping people can be. He will never be able to cure himself of the snap judgements he makes, but at least he can become increasingly aware of them and attempt to adjust accordingly.
Pessimist It amuses Amias to think about the worst possible outcome in whatever situation he happens to be in. He always takes his logical approach to come up with these ideas, so they always seem likely to actually happen. He isn't afraid to verbalize these thoughts either, even during joyous celebrations. This can make Amias a downer to be around and a killjoy to invite to parties. It wouldn't be surprising to find him on everyone's do-not-invite list! Even when he is attempting to bring comfort to a suffering friend, Amias's thoughts always seem to make things worse thanks to his negative state of mind.
Since I feel his pessimism is so closely linked to his inability to view the world with an open mind, if his prejudiced disposition starts sinking, his negative perspective will gradually follow, and vice versa.
xxxxxLikes: Dry heat, friends, rocks, psychic types, discovering things new to him xxxxxDislikes: Magicians, being fooled, ghost types, dishonesty, xxxxxFavourite Food: Prickly pear cactus xxxxxHobbies: Tinkering: Once, Amias was overwhelmed with curiosity which lead him to take apart every device he had access to, just to study how it worked. Once he was satisfied with his curiosity, he began to put them back together... only to be fascinated with a new curiosity. What if I put this here, instead? What if I replaced this with this? Soon, Amias was improving devices and inventing completely new ones... But not without leaving a lot of gadgets broken beyond repair. Puzzles: Amias loves to challenge himself with puzzles of all kinds. However, he is frustrated to find that the more puzzles he completes, the less of a challenge they seem to be. He fears if he gets too skilled he will never be challenged again. Reading: Although Amias does enjoy reading once in a while, he quickly gets frustrated with the lack of hands-on stimulation he receives from it. He much prefers puzzles and tinkering if he had a choice. xxxxxInterests: Magic and illusions - Amias believes that if he can learn everything about the art, magicians would have a much harder time fooling him with their tricks. xxxxxFaction Opinion: "My home... <3" xxxxxAspirations: Discover Caterpillar's underground tunnels and master them. xxxxxFears: Being alone.
Employment:: xxxxxTitle: Watchful Wraith xxxxxJob: Spy/Intelligence Agent

Okay, heyo! I'm gonna talk about things in order, from top to bottom, so you can run on down it with me!
First off, I see a lot of potential in Amias, and with a little polish, I think we can help you realize that potential!
Intelligent / Observant – I know you're saying the traits are just synonyms for each other, but these are slightly confusing.
As it stands, you've written this trait not about his intelligence or his ability to observe, but rather his achievement, the product of what he learns. I almost feels as if he falls into the realm of being a mnemonic, somebody with a high capacity for remembering trivial facts! I think you can very easily fix up this trait, without really having the change the text much, if you were to focus on this. It would probably play an important role in his job as a spy, and his focus on the memory of books, facts, and details rather than more social matters gives a feel of how he interacts with others. It's an interesting flaw that prevents this trait from seeming one-sided, as well!
Reliable / Trustworthy – Just toss one or the other word out of the trait names, because they essentially mean the same thing.
This is a good trait, and makes sense for what I'm seeing of him, but as you've written it, he's merely honest, not reliable. You include very little about how he fulfills tasks he's assigned, which I'm assuming he does to maintain the trust he desires, and focus on how he always tells the truth, which could be taken a variety of ways. I think this can be fixed very easily by expanding this a tad to include how he DOES always attend to tasks he's assigned (and I'm assuming he does, if he doesn't, then we've got a whole 'nother trait on our hands, haha) and how he feels when he can't keep his promises, and a little explanation as to when he IS unable to fulfill them. We want to think exceptions to traits with Amias, so we can give him some depth.
Lonely / Forlorn – I don't really see how this trait makes him lonely or forlorn! He's more strange, and perhaps a bit silly, and I feel like this could be an interesting facet of his personality, as well as one that's much more fun to play and play WITH than somebody who's lonely. Strangeness is far more neutral, because you get a variety of different reactions from the variety of people that Amias might interact with, you dig? What I want you to think about in this way is more than just making him a bit of a nutter, and how he makes up imaginary friends. Think about ways which might be construed as positive, ways that this might help him as well as harm him!
If I may... I feel like Amias IS very lonely, and this is his big fear, of being alone. We've recently added in a Fears section to our quest guide to include such things, and if you could just move this there, you could establish this loneliness without really having to derail your other traits with it, but rather use them to support it! Because it is an interesting dynamic and I feel like it could be a very powerful drive to his character, to prevent himself from being alone.
Prejudiced / Narrow-Minded – Again, these are slightly different concepts, so you'd do well to pick one and expand on it!
I think your best bet is to keep prejudiced. It's a good negative trait, primarily because it's counter-productive. This is a flaw that Amias has that's going to make it very hard for him to make and keep friends, and that's probably going to exacerbate his loneliness. Keep in mind, though, that if this is how you want to play him, you're going to want to try your hardest during development to move him away from this, or he'll never really have a chance to grow as a character and conquer his fear of being alone.
Pessimist / Gloomy – Once again, for clarity's sake, pick one word or the other and use that'un <3
This is another good trait, for the same reason as the last one. Think about how you'd feel if you were friends with a constant downer! It'd be hard to deal with them sometimes, right? Keep this in mind, about how he's fueling his own fear of being alone with this constant negative attitude, and start thinking about ways to make him more optimistic as he grows.
Hobbies & Interests : Again, I'm struck by how conducive mnemonism is to Amias' personality and interests. A strong memory would make his interest in all these thing very reasonable and understandable, and I feel they make a lot of sense!
So, all in all, there's a bit of polish needed on Amias, but he has the potential to come out much stronger.
I want you to keep in mind, though, that I've written this with the hope that you're up to playing and developing Amias, because this is going to be a tough character TO play. He's got a couple of big flaws that are going to make life miserable for him at times, and while I can offer you tips on how you might go about bringing him to somewhere he's less riddled with flaws, ultimately it's going to be up to you! If you don't like the idea of a difficult character, or if you want to try to alleviate some of this right now while I can still help you, let me know and I'll see what I do for you!

you have done an excellent job all around and I am almost ready to approve you!
I love the idea of Amias the more I read about him, haha. Forgive me for indulging myself, but I think it would be a hilarious dynamic if Amias were to work in his imaginary friends into his actual work, his spy... missions, I think they're called? I think the slight loss of touch with reality could definitely be another interesting facet. And maybe you already thought of this! Just an idea that occurred to me xD
Mnemonic is indeed a word! It means, when used as an adjective, "of or pertaining to memory." So in this sense, it is correctly used! That said, what you may want to keep in mind, if you'd like to continue on with this trait, and I think it suits Amias very well, is this : Is he perceptive, or does he know all the tricks already because he's dealt with them once, and now has the experience, and therefore the memory? They achieve essentially the same goal, but one ties together the trait and makes it overall more cohesive.
It's not a big thing at all, just a sentence or two of change if you like the idea, and then I'm comfortable with accepting your quest! Again, good job, and I'll talk to you when you get done!
