Life alone was not all he had thought it would be, to be honest. He missed his family, but he couldn't imagine going back to them at this point. And if he couldn't go back, he supposed he'd have to go forward instead. But to where? In his times traveling the roguelands he'd heard of plenty of prides, but none of them had really piqued his interest. He'd had traveling partners too, but none of them had really stuck. It was frustrating, he thought, settling himself up against the trunk of large tree whose roots draped out over the river bank, he wasn't used to this sort of quiet.

Something had to happen, he thought, watching a little bug run across the network of roots, something always happened when it was too quiet. Whether it would be good or bad remained to be seen.

Step by step, Latifu bobbed her head gently, a smile creased lightly on her face. She had a small song running through her head, something she had retained from her mother when she was just a small cub. Not much had really changed since those days - the sun still hung triumphantly above her, the wind still blew through her long hair kindly - the earth was all the same, and she really thought that that was kind of amazing. Almost as amazing as, well, the gods. As a cub, Latifu had always had a great fascination with the gods, and had even met a handful of them whilst out on little adventures. There was just something about them that really drew her to them; maybe it was the wings, or the elegance, or the sheer power they held, but what she knew for sure was that she had always loved them.

Not that there was anything wrong with regular, every-day creatures. She liked them well enough. But they could just get so....irritating sometimes. She wasn't one to get mad about anything, but they could really stir up an ugly feeling inside her sometimes.

Pausing her steps, her little song came to a slight halt. Up ahead, she could hear the sounds of running water, and the cool liquid really sounded pretty nice right about now. Shaking her braid back and forth, her smile broadened a little as she padded up to the side of the bank.

Ah and there was something certainly, a ray of light in his otherwise grim looking day. After taking a moment to smooth his mane against the tree's rough bark Rahmara cleared his throat, hoping he wouldn't frighten her off. "It's hot today, isn't it? I find myself wondering if perhaps I'm hallucinating," he said coyly, rising to his feet but remaining a fair distance from her, "It's not every day something so lovely crosses my path, you can see why I'd wonder." Taking a step sideways toward the river he paused again, examining her a little closer. Bright white fur, so delicately accented, a true prize. "Rahmara," he offered, hoping she'd be inclined to respond instead of flee.

Hearing the voice of someone else - a male, from the deep-sounding tone of it - Latifu perked her ears up. Her face looked a bit frozen, having not expected to see someone else here. If she thought about it, she really should have expected it, though, as this was a source of water on a hot day.

"Ah, the heat really can play with your eyes." Smiling gently, Latifu wasn't sure what he meant at first; though, as she listened, she caught on quickly. "Oh my, you flatter me." Turning her head a little to the side, she felt a slight tickle in her stomach. She wasn't used to being flattered, but it was really rather...nice.

Watching him even closer now, she ran her eyes across his appearance; he looked very much like a warrior, mainly due to his markings. Though she came from a bright and decorated litter, she could really appreciate his natural coloring.

"My name is Latifu." Closing her eyes in a bright grin, she thought that this would be a nice distraction from the day's heat, and the lonely journey she'd been on.

"Like the upturn in a song of praise," he purred, "Music to my sad and sorry ears." Giving her a sidelong smile he moved to the water's edge, dipping his paw in pulling it back up to let the water fall off into ripples on the surface. "What brings you out so far from the rest of the world?" he asked, "Looking for a place to unwind, detoxify perhaps? It's amazing what a little break from reality can do for you. Do you know what I mean?"

Biting her upper lip for a moment, Latifu was finding this male a bit hard to follow. He seemed quite eloquent, which is probably why she was a little lost. Latifu had grown up being fluid with music, not words, so sometimes she could be a little dense when others spoke.

But she thought he was quite charming, even if his words seemed like a bit of a lost cause on her. "Oh, I've just been...wandering about, I guess." Giving him a sweet smile, she didn't really notice whether this place was any more desolate than the places she had been before; to her, the world was just a big beautiful place.

"I don't really....have much of a reason to go anyplace special." Letting her eyes drop for a moment, she wasn't sad about that fact, but she did wonder what reasons others had. "And why are you out here, kind sir?" Raising a brow to him, she had a slightly mischievous grin.

"Looking for nothing really," Rahmara said with a shrug, "But I found you, and that's certainly not nothing." He flashed a wicked grin before stepping back from the water's edge. He did enjoy this sort of game, though she didn't seem to be following it all. Perhaps he might need to slow down a little. He certainly didn't want to lose her, she was a rare jewel in the wilds. "But I digress, there's more important things to life than honeyed words," he said as he sat back on his haunches, "What's dancing around in that head of yours?"

Stepping into the water, Latifu was careful to watch where she placed her paws. The water felt really nice, especially on this hot day. "That you did." Giggling a little, Latifu liked his sweet words. They made her feel special; a feeling she thought she wouldn't be able to experience in her lifetime. After spending most of her youth chasing after gods and goddesses, Latifu had found that there really wasn't much that was special about regular lions, compared to them. It was a complicated feeling, though, so she didn't linger on it for too long.

"Well, I guess it's how you use those honeyed words." Flicking her eyes up at him, she let hers linger on his for a moment; they were like small glimmering emeralds, popping out from his face. "You could build a wonderful life on honeyed words." Leaning her head down to the water, she grinned briefly before taking a drink.

"Right now..." She lingered on the last word, trying to think. "Not much of anything, I suppose. Though, I guess now that you've shown up with your sweet words, you've popped up in my head." Giving a small nod, she smiled at him. Her words were almost more matter-of-fact than flattery, but she didn't not mean it as flattery, either.

"A life huh?" he said softly, feeling a little whimsical at the thought, "A life and a world of my own making perhaps, but ever so lonely without someone to share it with." Laughing to himself he rolled onto his side in the dirt, keeping his eyes on her. It felt good to just relax and let the words fall off his tongue without worrying who he might offend. She seemed to know he wasn't meaning harm. A little misguided fun perhaps, but no harm. "Have I overwhelmed your own sweet thoughts then? I do apologize for that," he said with a sigh as he worked the cool earth into his fur.

"My sentiments exactly." While Latifu had been travelling by herself, she didn't really want to think of an entire lifetime spent by herself. For now, though, she was mostly enjoying her youth; though, this male did give her a taste of what it could be like later on.

"Oh, it's quite alright. I don't mind being overwhelmed by you." Keeping her eyes on the water, she stared at her reflection for a few moments, not sure whether she wanted to look up and see his expression. Latifu wasn't really the type to get nervous or embarrassed, but this feeling did come fairly close.

"So do you think you'll be staying in this area long?" Slowly lifting her head from the water, she looked back at him, braid dripping from while she was drinking.

"That really depends on if someone can give me a good reason too," he teased as he pulled himself back up on his haunches, "You know, I might be feeling a little wanderlust coming on right now. Good company seldom lasts as long as you'd like it too." He glanced up at the sky, trying to find the best way to phrase what he was going to say next. "Maybe, and this is just maybe, I could be persuaded to stay around through the night?" The look he gave her was anything but subtle, but at this point he figured she'd either agree or laugh and run off. Either way it had been a fun interlude in his otherwise dull day.

"Be persuaded?" Freezing up almost immediately, Latifu carefully retraced the exact words he had said. Stay through the night? Here, with her? The thought made her face heat up. Flicking her eyes down towards the water, she was really starting to feel a bit nervous; not really a bad nervous, but it definitely felt like her toes were tingling.

"I...I-I mean, company i-is always nice. Especially since you've been such wonderful company so far." Working up a smile, she felt a bit childish for getting so worked up over a few little words and a look from a lion. She was an adult, right? Why couldn't she act like one now?

"But it's...really up to you, I suppose." Returning to the water, her eyes were nervously scanning her reflecting, sometimes peeking glances over at his.

Rahmara couldn't help but laugh at the way she had reacted. He couldn't say he was surprised, she had seemed the sweet type more than the sultry minx, but it was nice. Refreshing, in a way. He liked it, though he didn't want her to feel awkward or nervous about it all. There was nothing wrong with a little harmless fun between friends, and they'd both surely part with fond memories and a story to tell. "I'll tell you what," he said with a wink, "I'll head on over to a cave just over that ridge. It's nice, dry and warm and free of prying eyes. Meanwhile you can think it over, and follow me if you'd like. How does that sound?"

Slowly bringing her eyes up to look at him, Latifu's face was a bit surprised. Unfortunately, she hadn't inherited her mother's smooth personality; Latifu was a bit more rigid at times, and definitely on the childish side.

"Ah, well, a cave seems like a rather nice place to spend the night." Lowering her head for a drink, she couldn't bear to look him in the eyes. Mortal lions all seemed so much more suave and direct, very unlike the Gods she had met. But she supposed that it was probably because they lived so long, they had plenty of time for anything.

"We may just cross paths again, then." Smiling softly, she flicked her eyes up at him. Whatever was to happen, was meant to happen.
