He and Zii had drifted apart. And though it saddened him, he knew that letting her go was for the best. For her. His heart ached, though. She'd taught him to open up, to love beyond familial love. Family...the lion looked towards the paths leading out to the outposts, to where he normally was nowadays. He knew his mother was alive, somewhere beyond the Firekin lands. Perhaps...it was time he found her. Took the opportunity provided by the current state of affairs and found the lioness. Yes. He would do that, as well as join the others in furthering the interests of the Firekin. He wasn't sure he wanted to travel alone, however. He...rather wanted company. He'd gotten used to having others around, really.

Mikā's paws were restless, her mind working. Things were stirring up in the pride. They were spreading out. And though Mikā dearly loved little ones and watching over them...she'd been raised and trained to fight. To defend. There were enough cub-sitters in the pride to watch over the young currently about. She needed to be elsewhere. Perhaps she might even come across her 'mothers'. She...could do with seeing them again.
She was surprised to see another in her way as she made her way to report to who she needed to before reporting to Moto'seide in the outpost. She recognized him, vaguely, and approached him. "Something wrong, Guard?" He was a friend of Iirte's, if she remembered correctly.

Kich blinked and looked towards the source of the voice that interrupted his thoughts. Ah! One of the cub-sitters. He nodded to her in greeting. "No, nothing. I was just finishing a thought before going to report to Corporal Iirte Aasa. I'm going to join the forces outside the pride." There were more than enough Guards and Soldiers to keep the pride secure. "What of you?"

Ah! So he was heading out as well! "Perhaps we can accompany one another, than." Mikā smiled slightly, shifting on her paws. "I am planning on joining the forces outside as well. There are not many cubs among us now, and enough other cub-sitters about to watch over those we have." The large lioness bowed, blood-colored eyes closing a moment with the motion. "I am Mikā'īl. It is a pleasure to meet you, pride-brother."

Mikā'īl...he vaguely knew that name. Another friend of Iirte's, if he remembered rightly. "It is good to meet you as well, Mikā'īl. I am Kichomo'damu. And the company would be appreciated." Greatly. It seemed his early thought about company was being answered. And he certainly wouldn't complain about that! He shifted to start the trip to where he knew Iirte would be. "So what are your thoughts? On all of this."

What did she think? "I think this all couldn't have happened at a worse time. But as they say...misery loves company. I think our leaders are doing the right thing, though." Mikā followed him, quickly reaching his side to trot in time with him. "We need water, and possibly allies who have not been weakened by lack of water." She knew that's what the lack of water had done to them. They were strong, they were Firekin. But they were only mortal. Mortals weakened when things were not properly taken care of.

She was right. Kich nodded in agreement. "I've learned in my time here that no lion is an island unto themselves, and sometimes...we must accept some sort of help. It seems we must look outside for some of that help now. Even if it is only in the form of water." Water...the most precious resource they had that was drying up...And they were all suffering for it. "Is there anything you hope to find out there?"

Mikā nodded. "Yes, actually. I am hoping, while out there...to see my 'mothers'. The sisters who raised me and taught me to fight." She missed the almost-twin sisters. They'd been all she had in her cubhood, had nursed her back to health from the sickness that had robbed her of her memories. "And you, Kichomo'damu? You sound as if you will be seeking something out there as well."

Kich chuckled, nodding. "I am. Not actively, really. But...I want to find my mother, if possible. Let her know I moved on, and am doing well." If heartbroken. He would miss sharing a den with Zii. But...at least they were still friends. He would forever value her friendship, no matter how the loss of her love might hurt.

"Seems we have a quest in common, than." She chuckled, smiling. "Along with a mutual friend, if I remember correctly. Iirte Aasa, yes?" She valued her fire-and-ash friend a great deal. And she'd miss her while she was out. But...she had to do this. To be outside, helping. She...just couldn't see herself staying HOME while others did so.

"That we do. On both accounts." Iirte had been his first friend, both in life and in the pride. "It's a surprise we've not properly met before now." At least they had now. It was a meeting that would be beneficial to the both of them. They'd have someone traveling with them that had a similar quest, and a shared friend. It was the best he could ask for at the moment.

Mikā shrugged. "Life had the both of us, and Iirte, very busy. Especially with that large litter she had! The lot just recently grew enough to be outside the cub-sitter dens when they weren't in lessons or with their parents." She would rather miss that litter. They'd been...interesting to watch, but it had been a joy to see her friend's cubs grow, and to know she'd a hand in their upbringing. She looked up the path, then to Kich. "We're nearing where we must part for the moment. Where shall we meet up?"

Ah...that was very, very true. He nodded, then thought a moment. Where should they meet...ah! "The rock shaped like a lion rearing." It was roughly shaped like that, but shaped like that nonetheless. "That would be a good spot to meet up before we make our way out." He nodded to her. "I shall see you once we finish talking to our respective leaders." And he continued down the path. It would be strange to be outside the desert again.

The lioness nodded. "That sounds like a good place. I shall see you soon." And she took the deviation in the path, making her way to where she needed to go. This...would be interesting. And she hoped nothing bad came of this venture outside the pride.
