The mission is to find the perpetrator and dispose of it. * C class difficulty level (must have a team of three, at least one of them must be an intermediate trainee) MECHANICS * MECHANICS: RP assembling a team, as necessary, before heading towards the Lighthouse portal to request a portal to Survey Mission 3C. Once there, roll a 100-sided dice and match the roleplay to the results below, as well as any reactions. Players can continue rolling until any of the players roll a HALLOWEEN ENCOUNTER, in which case the BATTLE PHASE begins. See below for battle phase mechanics. 1- 20: You notice a lack of people in the streets even though it is nearly mid-noon their time. Several of them give you strange looks, wary. 21 - 40: You notice a strange, pungent smell, like something rotting, and as you look around, notice the influx of pests, from flies, to roaches to even what looks like dead locusts littered along the streets. 41 - 60: You notice that the signs, the neighbourhood stop signs and posts have all been painted and engraved with a strange symbol, a backwards arced spiral. They line up almost eerily against each other as far as you can see. 61 - 80: A hot gust of wind blows through the streets, tasting oddly of sand and rot. 81- 100: BOSS ENCOUNTER: - You spot a ??? figure clothed in tattered rags, though your weapon can sense its unnatural scent of Fear. It is clutching a something in its arms, which you slowly realise is actually a piece of rotting human bone. - BOSS MECHANICS: This boss has 75 HP. Every time you attack it (following the general battle rules), you TAKE 8 damage. Make sure to tally the boss's total HP (the damage you did to it) at the bottom of your post as well as your total HP and the damage you did that round. If the boss's HP hits 0, you have defeated it, and your team can now take the portal back. * 4 mission reward points for completing this successfully

Murder in Las Vegas. Why did that seem like it was entirely too normal to Cass? Oh right, CSI on TV. That was why. Still, there was something about the notices about the curved marking that made her think of the symbol that Sydney had found underneath the bed in that farmhouse.... Still, she hadn't seen this supposed marking herself, so she was running off of limited information.
She'd roll with what she had to work with.
Never the less, she made a point of sitting at the portal, waiting as she sent out the message to her two favorite party members of choice - her boy and her bro. She'd will them into being BFFs yet. Bix had a moment by himself where he whined in his own head about being a waste of space a loser. He was still wallowing after Allan's mission but Mina was berating him enough to get him moving. After a short back and forth text convo, Bix worked out what sort of weather to dress for and headed out the door.
"Hey.." If he was trying not to look slightly disappointed with everything than he was failing. He barely even looked at the butt of that one sexy hunter who always worked on the portal there. "What are we in for?"

Marcus had one, no, two reasons he avoided missions with Cass. One, His hands wandered. Two, Cass was high on the distraction scale. Few things would keep him from just... going over and making out with her. One of those things was any of his superiors, he didn't like the idea of showing his relationship with Cass in front of them.The other.... Pretty much one guy. Just one guy.
Bix.
Cass's bro. Her buddy. Chum. fFriend. Next door neighbor. That guy who Marcus could get irrationally jealous about even when he had no reason to whatsoever.
When Cass has texted him, he'd gotten dressed, cleaned himself up a bit, and went out, ready to meet her. Somewhere, he wasn't think how primping was counter productive. As he arrived at the portal- "Bix." the moon trainee frowned before going to Cass's side. No touching, but Marcus shuffled a bit, even having enough thoughts to wonder why the guy looked... depressed. Bix and he might have been dicks to each other and they had their understanding but- "You okay for mission?"

Cass had frowned when Bix arrived looking just...down. It seemed so unlike him, walking over and giving him a hug around the shoulders and half leaning against him. She didn't like it when there was a disturbance in the force.
"Murders in Vegas, so....Vegas...." she answered. "Dead bodies were found branded with a marking on them that I guess they believe is attributed to the Horsemen and..as it stands, I think I saw the symbol at another location, so I want to see if it is the same one if possible." she explained her reasoning for following up on this particular mission.
Like Marcus, she made a point to not get grabby with him, just laying out a general 'this is what is happening, y'oh' plan as it was to get them prepped. "We won't be in the hubub of the Vegas swing of things. Seemed like a general snoop around to her, as it was.

Bix smiled a bit to be hugged but just nodded. "So do we get to see some dead bodies?" It wasn't exactly an eager question. The last bodies they'd seen had been awful and ... the memory was too horrific to drag back up.
"I've never been to Vegas. Lets get scandalous!" At least he was making an effort not to be drag. Right?
The albino frisked himself quickly to make sure he was fully equipped for the mission and then stepped through the portal.
When they emerged on the other side it was just normal city life. Bix couldn't remember the last time he'd seen full on sunlight! It was quiet though and he couldn't help noticing all the street signs.
"You said the bodies had markings?" He pointed to the signs, lifting his phone to snap a few photos.

Well, if Bix said he was good, Marcus would take it at face value. He wasn't going to pry into it. Maybe later but not now. But hey Vegas, what happened there stayed there. Supposedly. But, dead bodies. This was going to be fabulous, he could tell. "Bix, the most scandalous thing we might do is end up making out. Unless we ditch the mission to go into Vegas proper-" He shrugged. They were in the area of murders, he wasn't exactly looking forward to hooking up. Well okay he was but after mission, not during. Bix had found something, which was a start. As for him, he looked around the neighborhood. Not many people actually out. Which was... weird. Most people would be out around this time of day. The weird looks her got from those around however- "Well, looks like our coats mark us out a bit here. We hardly look like professional anythings." He tapped his boot on the ground. "Think we'll find a dead body or two?"

"I'll admit I'm more concerned about finding what is making the bodies than actually finding any bodies...." Cass answered even as she stepped through the portal as well.
She looked at the symbols that Bix was pointing out, frowning lightly. These looked familiar to her and she wasn't exactly liking that. It seemed like Bix was already taking a picture, but she snapped one herself, if only because she wanted to compare it to the ones from the farmhouse. These looked...
...
...
So similar and she was starting to wonder if they were significant in some way like that. Well, they obviously were, but..how?
"I wouldn't be outside either of markings found on murder victims' bodies were being left everywhere..."

Bix slipped his phone back into his pocket, feeling strange about the looks they were getting and how quiet this neighborhood was. He peeled his fingerless gloves off as his hands started to sweat. He knew it would be wram here but he figured his lightest gloves would be fine. Unfortunately that whole 'dry heat in Vegas' thing people always talked about was still heat.
A wind kicked up. It was warm and... gross. "UGH... did you guys smell that? Smells like a rotting corpse." He put his hand over his mouth but as soon as it started, the breeze stopped. "It was like sand and bodies but.." He couldn't tell which way it had come from.

Marcus frowned, undoing a few buttons on his shirt, trying to keep himself cool. "What like the Sahara? We might be in desert country but it's all rock and dirt out here Bix I doubt-" Suddenly, another gust of wind, and Marcus found that Bix wasn't making s**t up. "Okay, I take it back, ********." He spat, not enjoying the sensation of sand or rot. "Rancid. Okay, the place smells like rotting s**t and there is sand- ******** lovely." Another spit. "Either of you have water that was foul, just- foul."

Cass was nice and cool, as it was, but then again she was also not wearing pants and was aired out enough as it was. If she started trying to get more off, she'd just end up in her underwear in the middle of the street. However, she wasn't inclined to do that as the thought vanished about the second she got a whiff of that wind too, sputtering and pulling her scarf up around her nose and mouth, eyes watering.

Bix also covered his face but thankfully the breeze died down a bit. It was too hot to be covered up so he was eager to free his face again.
"I just noticed." He was looking at the signs all painted with the strange symbol. "It's not just everywhere."
The albino hunter seemed to walk out in the street. He squinted one eye and moved himself to an odd angle. "See how they all line up? It's more than just a tag. There's definite purpose behind how these symbols are placed."
Once again his cell phone came out. He lined up the picture to duplicate what he was seeing and snapped it.

Marcus wished for a while he didn't have the ability to smell anything. Or taste. s**t was nasty. Bix's observation made his mind cut off from the sensation of 'things that taste like s**t'. "Really?" Finding a spot himself he did indeed, see the symbol begin the line up- "Maybe it's like a territory marking? I mean, gangs do it with tagging, maybe monsters do with with these symbols?" Phone out, photos taken, Marcus looked around again. "For a supposedly deadly mission, it doesn't seem to have anything that is a threat."

Cass had been going over to take a look at the line up when something crunched underneath her foot, causing her to pause and actually look down, noting something insect like smearing underneath it and across the pavement. She frowned, glancing around and noting there was actually quite a bit of the insect life like that littered about.
Hmmmmmmm.
"Hey guys, there's um...dead bugs... everywhere..well, living ones too, but aren't these like.." she paused, crinkling her nose. "..Plague...insects?"

"Are these bugs normal for Las Vegas?" Bix poked some dead locusts. "I don't have any idea." He took a picture of them just in case. "This is all pretty disgusting. I mean, not like the Sahara, but still."
The wind picked up again, causing him to cover his face. "Ok so what are we looking at here? Any idea? Puzzle piecing clues together... any idea what sort of creature or cult or... whatever?"
He didn't know much about desert creatures and something about all of this made him think of the desert, besides the obvious fact that they were in Las Vegas.
