You wanted to talk? She stood in the doorway to the living room now, having been waiting in the kitchen until the half werewolf had left to go exploring.

Elik stopped when his aunt's voice broke through the silence, and looked up from the dishes he'd been cleaning. Well... No, he didn't really want to talk, not about that. But he had to, knew Whisteria had to know if only so she did not spend the rest of her life waiting for someone who would never return.

This was, maybe, one of the things the dragon had done right. Better a bleeding wound then to never truly know. "Did you see Illisia, when she came back here ? How much to do you know about her.. and the gem she had on her arm ?"

Better to know what his aunt knew, and fill in the gaps.

"My visit with her was brief. She seemed quite busy...they took to calling her a prophetess. Aside from that..." The druidess shrugged. "I was glad to see her, but in the back of my mind I was worried. Something about it all did not seem to add up." She pushed off the doorway and slipped by Elik, grabbing her basket of herbs. Some still needed separating and it was a task to distract her somewhat while they talked.

"Well, that's one way to put it." Elik snorted, as he put the cup he had been drying down in one of the cupboards. Really... Why had his mother needed to be such an hard-headed mule, sometimes ?

"These gods... Because it is true, they are gods. I have seen that." He started. "They died, a long time ago. I do not know why, but they did. They become those gems, and they decide on a host..."

"...They pick a host and, after a time... They take them. They take the body as their own, are reborn through the sacrifice of the mortal who bears the gem." He fell silent then, leaving time for Whisteria to process what he had just said.

Whisteria had been busy pulling the petals and leaves from a peacebloom when Elik explained the whole god eating host business. She ended up crushing the delicate blossom without realizing it. "So she is really...gone...then?" The thought had been pushed to the back of her mind after their last conversation, not wanting to face it. Facing it meant more of her dwindling family was gone. She and Elik were the last...

The crushed flower tumbled back into the basket. If he looked over it was clear enough that she was fighting against tears.

See, this was why he hadn't wanted to do this. And... probably why Illisia hadn't wanted to, either.

But still, Whisteria deserved the truth. "Yes. I saw him. He... still looks entirely too much like her."

Still, he moved forward to hug her, knowing what would come. He had cried, too, even if he would likely never admit it.

Really, she didn't want to cry but at this point it seemed there was no winning against it. She wrapped her arms around Elik too and wept into his shoulder. It seemed wrong, after all the wars and the campaign to Northrend, to have Illisia snatched from them like this. It wasn't fair, but what had happened wasn't something that could be undone.

Once she had cried herself out the druidess let go of Elik and wiped the remaining tears from her cheeks. "I meant what I said earlier. I'll follow you, whatever choice you make, even if it means facing him." Even if it meant Illisia's proverbial ghost. She would rather deal with that then risk never seeing Elik again.

"It... was what she wanted." His tone of voice did betray that he had no idea who would want something like this, what would make someone do such a choice. "You don't... need to do that, Whist. I am not even sure if I am going back..."

Really, he was uncertain of pretty much everything, right now, somewhat more fitting for the teenager he had once been than the man he was now, but... so much had happened.

"Would not going back cause you to loose Adi?" Whisteria couldn't fathom why Illisia would have made that sort of choice, there must have been a good reason for it.
PostPosted: Sun Mar 04, 2012 5:51 pm

"It would." He admitted, bitterly. It clearly wasn't a thought that he liked. He did not want to lose Adi, or Glyph, or even Rio - all those who had been kind to him, those who had helped, in one way or another, ease the pain of his mother's passing, if only slightly. "But I do not know if I fit, there."

"...But then, I do not know if I still fit here, either." He admitted, looking out the window toward the town center, but not letting go of his aunt just yet. "I have seen... And I know so many things I didn't, now. The worlds, the universe is much bigger than I thought it was, and I don't know if I can settle in something 'normal' again. To a land locked in war that is ultimately so meaningless to the grand scheme of things."

"You sound a bit like me, when your mother and I came back from Northrend." Her experience in the frozen north had tipped the balance of everything she knew, skewing it awkwardly and now it seemed it was about to unbalance even more. "Tell me about the places you've been...what you've seen, Elik."

Northrend... He had never gone there, actually, since he had been preparing to switch place with his father and sleep to guard the Emerald Dream for the first time in his life when the war was at it's most heated. But then, that hadn't happened either, thanks to Gehenna. In a selfish way he was thankful that it had all started to unfold before he had gone - in his inexperience, it was more than likely that he would have been among those who died in the first wave.

"I have seen great devastation, but I have seen the opposite. I have seen a a world remaking itself from the inside out, in a way that should not be possible..." He breathed out quite sharply, clearly still in wonder even as he spoke those words. "And I have seen beings, Whisteria... That you could never imagine." Had seen so many gods, some such a wonder that it almost did hurt to look at them. There had been a woman, so small of stature yet so large of sheer presence. with eyes forever shifting blues... But he had never gathered the courage to speak to her, almost as if forcing his presence on her might have been a sin.

"I have not talked to many gods, but... Those I have, have been kind to me. The place in which they live... is like Heaven on Earth." He continued, knowing that he probably sounded like if he was out of his mind, but... That was the truth. He had seen it.

She never spoke much about her experiences in Northrend, some contained horrors she would rather not share. The druidess had volunteered more than once to accompany her friends among the humans, and other races, on dangerous missions. But these adventures had also opened her mind to other possibilities as well.

"Your awe about all this makes me curious. Though, I think I may have seen one of those gods you speak of. Others called him Cenarius." Elik might realize she spoke of Glyph. Whisteria hadn't spoken to the god personally, only glimpsed him in passing a few times. She still wasn't sure what to think of him, even if it seemed it might be true.

"Yes, Glyph. He came here with Illisia." Simply as proof of her claims, first, but then... it had all unfolded into so much more than that. "He is one of the fews that I have talked to in greater lengths... I am certain he would like to meet you."

Well, at least Elik believed it all, in spite of the fact it was such a creature that took his mother for her. That, in itself, spoke volumes.

"If he is what you say, then I think I would like to talk to him too. If I ever get the chance." She sighed, trying to take in everything Elik had said. "You don't have to make a decision about this today. But, where does your heart tell you that you should be, Elik?"
