Good morning!
I opened my email this morning to find a well-written article on vertical gardening- organic vertical gardening, to be exact. The article made a few claims about vertical gardening that sounded pretty good, and I was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with vertical gardening.

I suppose then, has anyone here done vertical gardening before? xd
If so, how did it go? Compared to in-ground gardening, did it yield more?
If you haven't done vertical gardening before, would you like to try, and why?

Thank you so much and have a good day!

I'd definitely try it. My concern would be what the housing is and the plants I'm growing. I'd be wary of planting perennials/plants with large root systems in a small vertical container. The only vertical containers, if you can call them that, have been specially designed ones for moss and a shoe tree repurposed for herbs.

I do want to give it a try, as space and sun is limited.

Are you able to link to the article?

Lettuce is supposed to do really well in vertical gardens, because its root systems are just tiny little things.

Though I would suggest the kind you cut and eat as it grows. Waiting for a full head may mean it wouldn't work quite as well, you might run out of space for the plant itself.

I was surprised the first time I grew lettuce at how big it gets. I picked a few leaves from each plant and by the end of the summer, it was aroun four feet tall. I've seen ones that are taller than me and I'm 5'7".

I'm guessing basil (and other annual herbs) and thyme would do well vertically.

I'm doing pallets this year, and some stacked pots and three sisters! I'm excited. I've done a lot of hanging garden stuff- so this should be good too!

I would love to experiment with this, but where I am currently, I don't think I can. Not getting decent sunlight means I'd have to mount some lights and I don't think my lines can handle any more. I wouldn't want the little sprouts to suffer when I know they won't do well.

It seems like a great idea and is inspiring!

I think I may try some container gardening this year.
