The tall grass of the pridelands made for great cover when pouncing on the bugs of the plains. Not that they really moved out of the way when you jumped at them, it would have been more fun to practice on her brothers and sisters... alas they were busy doing their own thing. So left to her own devices she had decided to play in the area nearest the adult lions. Not because she didn't want to go exploring, more that she didn't want to get in trouble. She was a good girl!
This time she hunkered down. A bird stood unknowingly searching for food while she began crawling towards it. Wiggling her butt just a tad she launched herself, only to watch it fly away with a tut. "Success!" She cried out even though it wasn't.
Once more she hunkered down, seeing an interesting prey. Ok it was fluffy and she just wanted to pounce on it. Little did she know as she sprang at it, the fluff was attached to another lion. They would be colliding...

Savassi wasn't really the sort of lion who needed help getting himself into dumb situations. But sometimes the world had a way of nudging him along!
Even the little brown cub (or his mother, for that matter) wouldn't have imagined he could find himself in a mess while lying in the tall grass, mostly hidden withing a thicket. He had just been resting, after all, Savassi was a young cub and young cubs got tired! And yet, despite his apparent safe-ness, something found a way to attack him. Namely, his tail.
Savassi was a very mild-mannered little guy, and wasn't one to extravagantly freak out over his tail being attacked. Instead, he just sat up. "Ooh!" he gasped, sitting up, and turned his head around. First he looked down, then up, because it turned out his attacker was larger than he was.
"... Hello, there."

To find that her 'prey' had been another lion, whom she collided with startled Ayodele for a breif moment. Her red eyes confused and yet playful. "Ooh! Sorry." She felt a little bad but now she had someone she could play with that wasn't family. "Hi I'm Ayodele, you can call me Ayo though for short. What's your name?" Now she was jumping around like crazy, ready to play with the young cub. His colors were really pretty and his flower. "That's a really cool marking." Feeling a little jealous that he had some cool markings and she was pretty plain.
Hopefully this boy could be her friend, she wanted more friends. She was sure mama and papa would approve too. "Wanna play?"

He blinked at the apology, and wondered what he should say. "That's alright...?" He said uncertainly, because for whatever reason, Savassi felt weird about accepting apologies, because to him they were almost instantly accepted. But her introduction brought a smile to his face, because apparently only knowing her name made her his new best friend.
"I'm Savassi!" He said more cheerfully, perking up his ears. When she pointed out his marking, he dumbly looked down at it, though he, of course, knew it was there. even shared it with a few siblings! "Oh, thanks. It's from my mom! You have a cool color." He nodded, because exchanging compliments was nice and she didn't really have markings he could point out.
"Play? Okay! But I might mess up, so don't be sad, okay?" It was a fair enough warning.

The gold juvenile grinned at the other. Savassi, she liked his name. "I'll remember you!" Exclaiming as she was bouncing on her paws. His comment about her pelt made her glow. "Thank you. Its pretty plain though." Her eyes dipping to the ground before they lit up again to his response to playing with her.
"You can't mess up with play!" she giggled. What a funny boy, adorable though. "What games do you know? I know hide and seek and tag. We can go bug pouncing. I do that all the time. I even go roaring at the birds. Its really fun to scare 'em sometimes. Prairie dogs are fun to scare too."

Oh, wonderful! Savassi liked the idea of being remembered, as long as it was fondly. And so far he didn't think he had a reason to be remembered in a bad way, so everything was good! He blinked, briefly confused by her sadness. "There's nothing wrong with plain, though. It's pretty." Because his family had a good-enough array of markings, to the brown cub her lack of them was more interesting!
He couldn't help but smile when she said he couldn't mess up at games, because she probably just didn't know him so well, then. Savassi was good at messing up in silly ways, though he liked to think he was improving at not messing up. "I know those games too! Well, I never go roaring at birds. Do they really get very scared?" That was an interesting idea!

This Savassi knew now to tend to a woman's needs it seemed. Although she didn't really think of the words in that manner, she did like the shower of compliments. "If you think so." He wasn't like some of the boys who teased girls. That was good at least. "I think we'll be really really good friends Savassi. I don't want to lose good friends." She stuck out her paw and grabbed him in a hug.
"Oh yah! Its really funny when they lose from feathers from it. Though sometimes they come swooping down afterwards. I'll fend them off of you though!" Grinning from ear to ear. "Let's go scare at some birds! Then we can go play tag or something. Since I ran into you, I'll let you pick the next game!" And she bounded off, only a little ways before turning her head towards his direction to see if he was coming.

The hug was surprising, but fortunately Savassi wasn't the sort of lion to tense up with it. He kind of just let things happen, and, as such, accepted it contentedly. "Oh good!" He purred, pleased at the idea of friendship. It was very good to have friends.
The idea of birds losing feathers when scared was, indeed, rather amusing. He tried to imagine it, then birds coming down and attacking him for it. That was less pleasant. But Ayodele said she would protect him, so Savassi thought there was no reason to worry. "Okay!" He grinned, and watched her bound off.
Then he realized he should probably followed, and hurried along after her. "Where are the birds?"

"Down this way." She purred as she led him down the path to a small area full of bushes and a bit of water. The squawking was loud enough to mask the sounds of their paws crushing the dry grass. Slowly Ayodele got down on her belly and began crawling. "Ok, the bird brains are all to busy getting clean." Another smile creeping on her face. "Ready?"
Then with a roar, definitely not as good as the adults but enough to startle the birds, she lept out from the tall grass and splashed around in the shallow water. The birds scattered, taking to the sky with shrieks of terror and like Ayodele had said, a few feathers falling from the heavens. There she was rolling in the water with laughter from it all. What a game to play with the creatures.
Sopping wet, she shook out the water from her fur and grinned as she looked a bit more fluffy. "Wasn't that fun?"

Even though he was excited about playing the game with his new friend, Savassi, as usual, felt a little apprehensive the closer they got to the birds. Still, he followed obediently and stayed as well hidden as possible as they stalked the birds. Because he figured that's what he should do!
He event launched forward along with Ayodele! At first the adrenaline and excitement were all very cool, but the ensuing chaos quickly got the better of Savassi. The birds only went away from them, but the cawing and the flapping of wings and he managed to trip and stumble around the water a bit made the experience somewhat horrifying.
It hadn't been traumatizing or anything, but once Ayodele turned her attention back to him, Savassi had his eyes open wide, with wet fur sticking out in all directions. Altogether, he looked rather bewildered.
Ever a trooper, though, he slowly nodded. "Uh-huh. That was awesome."

The femme laughed and trotted over to him, water splashing in different directions. None of the birds seemed to want to take revenge on the cubs which made the victory all the better. "What do you want to play next?" She asked as she dripped on the shore, red eyes trained on the other. He seemed a bit bewildered and that made her feel a little bad but she didn't want to call him on it. Not one to ruin a good time if she didn't need too. Besides they were having fun right? "I can play until the sun is starting to set. I don't want to worry my momma and papa, or any of my siblings."
She smiled as she held out a paw to him. The little golden girl wondered what sort of games they'd play now. Hide and seek? Tag? Maybe go swimming somewhere?

Savassi shrugged, he was a little unimaginative with games. And his head was still all filled up with feathers! Still, he finally managed to crack a smile and stand up normally, shaking out his fur a bit. "I dunno. Whatever you want. But..." He pondered a bit.
Even though his mother wasn't the most motherly, she didn't like it when he and his siblings were gone too long. And they were... nine cubs? She almost obsessively tracked them down every few hours, possibly at least in part because of he and his siblings' knack of getting into dumb sorts of trouble. So Savassi liked to help out with that by not making finding him much harder and staying closer to home. "But we should head back that way. Just so my mom won't be mad."

"But I want yoooou to decide." She whined, rolling her eyes and slouching a little. "I understand. I don't want to worry my parents. It doesn't feel good to have them mad at you either." She smiled, "Lead the way Savassi!" Eyes sparkling with wonder. They could play near the adults. An audience could boast her success on catching bugs and things.
That's when she heard the call of her parents and stopped dead in her tracks. "Uh oh." The little cub said. "Looks like I gotta go." Now saddened that she wasn't going to be able to play further. "Maybe I will be able to play with you some other time. I would very much like that." And she ended up high tailing it out of there to get back to her parents and whatever it was that they needed her for.
She'd remember this other cub. Hopefully they'd meet up again sometime.
