It was a dark and stormy night. Well. It was a dark night, at least. Mesolite was walking down the streets of the city, looking around for people from which she could procure energy from. She had been at it for a good few hours, and was starting to grow weary. She hadn’t managed to get a much of a haul at all tonight, and hoped she would be able to make up for it some other time.

As the lieutenant walked down a street, she felt something. It didn’t feel like one of…her kind, and she felt the tug of curiosity to investigate just who…or what was giving off such an odd energy. Leaping up on to a building, she glanced around, hoping to see the owner of the energy, and rather hoping that whoever it was, they wouldn’t be able to make out her own energy.

How could she be a good…what had that other lieutenant called it? She was a ninja now, right? Well. Ninjas couldn’t get caught by anyone. And they couldn’t be caught watching anyone.

Maybe she should just go find some bushes to hide in as she investigated.

While aware of auras around him, Super Sailor Remarque did not always seek to locate them. When he felt another agent of chaos nearby, he usually just left it be and tended to his own things. That was, when he could keep his curiosity in check, at least.

Tonight was one of those nights when his curiosity was very much in check. Having caught a cold had made him a little more wary than usual and instead of risking getting sicker or picking fights and making acquaintances with everyone he was supposed to be working on, he focused solely on gathering energy.

Though he was aware of the aura Mesolite radiated, he was neither able to identify her from it nor locate exactly where she was radiating it from. He assumed she, like him, was just out gathering energy. Had she been aligned with order he might have been able to force himself to care a little more, though given how few and far between his interaction with the Negaverse was, he had grown to ignore them for the most part.

Tonight was no different; he was walking through a slightly different part of town than normal. His intention, of which he was only vaguely interested in pursuing, was to locate a new area ripe for energy collection and that lacked an abundance of competition.

So far, he’d had little luck in finding much of anything, sans a few stray cats. He had considered trying to drain them of energy in place of actually locating people though it had been an entirely fruitless effort and he probably looked like a moron chasing cats while holding out a mirror.

Thankfully, the plus side of no one having been around to drain at that point in time was that there had also been no one to see him.

Mesolite peered down from the building that she was on, glancing to the street below. She held her paper clips close, then drew in a breath. If this was one of those, senshis, then it was up to her to stop it and just get rid of the b*****d before it could hinder their plans. Maybe even drain its energy for a while, and deliver the energy to Painite, just like she was supposed to.

The plan was set, now all was left was to put it in motion. The lieutenant took a leap off of the building, then landed as quietly as possible behind the senshi in question.

Sure, she made quite a bit of noise, but it was the thought that counted in situations like this. “Going somewhere, are we?” Mesolite wanted to sound as cool and intimidating as Painite did…though after that jump, she was a little winded, to say the least.

Remarque turned to face the Negaverse agent, and while he had initially been a bit surprised by her arrival, he observed her with a casual, practically uninterested look. His experience with the Negaverse was a limited one, and he still wasn’t quite sure what to make of them. In discussing with Sirius, it seemed that the bond between the two factions was limited and that at any given point the Negaverse might be tempted to turn on the Dark Mirror Senshi.

In eying the girl in front of him, Remarque first took account of the fact that she wasn’t as strong as him—or as big, or as old (he assumed). It made her seem like less of a threat. It was unwise to underestimate any opponent, though considering they were supposedly on the same side, he assumed she was just curious. “Well, yeah, that is the general reason people bother going outside— to go somewhere. Why, what’s it to you?”

“You’re one of those….senshi’s, aren’t you? So, it’s my job to stop you before you can foil all of our plans! You’re the people who are getting between us and total victory! You are one of the weeds that must be pulled before the flowering tree can really take root! Are you ready for some pain now?”

Well…that had gone just a little over the top, even for her normal over dramatization of things. Maybe she didn’t want quite that much of a super badass vibe, maybe she just…Well. She could fine tune her speech later. Right now. Right now she had business. She gripped her paperclips and brandished them at Remarque. “I, Lieutenant Mesolite, will show you to your tiny metal doom!”

Now, that was a good one liner.

She drew her hand back, intending to use the paperclips like a whip across her opponents face.
PostPosted: Sun Mar 04, 2012 11:36 am

The paperclips slapped across Remarque’s face. He stared at the girl in front of him when they lost momentum and fell limp after her initial attack. He stared at Mesolite.

“…Are you ******** serious?” he demanded after a few silent seconds, seeming entirely unimpressed. His skin was starting to redden across the contacted skin and he lifted his hand to rub at his cheek. She had attacked him. With paperclips? What the ******** kind of weapon was that? She’d have done more damage kicking him, but—whatever. If she wanted to fling office supplies at him, that was her mistake.

The incident with Magnetite from forever ago left him a little hostile towards Negaverse agents, and maybe he went a little overboard by lurching towards the girl in front of him, fist curled and aimed right towards her gut.

She hadn’t even hurt him that badly, but this was a prime moment to display what he was capable of so maybe she would think twice about attacking another Dark Mirror Senshi. “Don’t loop me in with them, girl,” he hissed as he swung his fist.

Mesolite had not been expecting retaliation. She had been expecting the poor lonely lost little senshi to run home crying, his tailcoat between his legs…not to be punched. The force of the blow nearly made the girl’s eyes pop out of her head. What a jerk. Who in their right mind would punch a lady like that? It was rather unheard of. The lieutenant stumbled backwards, clutching at her middle.

“Don’t loop you in…in with them? So you don’t think you’re a vile, loathsome weed that needs to be ripped from the ground? Well, I think you just proved that to me. Filthy rotten senshi.” The pain was ebbing even as she spoke, and she straightened herself up, swinging the paper clips like a lasso. “Don’t think I’m going to underestimate you again, fool. No, I’m ready for whatever curve balls you throw at me. The negaverse will prevail over all of you!

She darted at him once more, bringing her paperclips down across his face again, hoping he would be dumb enough to fall for the same attack twice.

He was a male after all.

Fortunately for Mesolite, Remarque did not move away from the paperclip whip. He tried, of course, though any sort of weapon other than fists disoriented him a bit. As a boxer, he’d been trained to watch certain parts of the body for clues on where and how his opponent was attacking, though boxing did not prepare you for weapons. Weapons completely threw him off balance.

Thankfully Mesolite was wielding only tiny scraps of aluminum and not anything particularly deadly. The paperclips stung his cheek for a second time and this time managed to leave a little scratch behind.

“My God!” Remarque exclaimed, despite being completely atheistic. “Does the Negaverse not teach you anything when they recruit you?”

He thought he had his work cut out for him by educating senshi and knights—and now Negaverse agents, too?

“I’m not—” Remarque was not a kick boxer and had only instinct to guide him when he swung his foot, trying to kick behind the girl’s knees, “That type of senshi! Not your enemy!”

Remarque might be off put by weapons, but Mesolite was always off put by actual body parts being used as weapons. She felt her legs move out from in front of her, and for a split second felt herself just floating in mid air. Then the split second ended and she was sprawled on her back, looking up at Remarque.

“There are more than one type of senshi?” What madness was this? What trickery? Was he trying to pull the wool over her eyes…because she was new? Did he really think she was going to be that stupid? “If you’re not a normal senshi, then what are you?” She was new, though. Perhaps he wasn’t trying to trick her. She got to her feet and brushed her backside off, looking at Remarque.

“What are you?” She asked again, her paperclips dangling at her side.

“I’m Sailor Remarque,” the male said, reaching up to brush his fingers over his reddened cheek now that he wasn’t worried about her trying to paperclip his eye out or something. “Dark Mirror Senshi. And I dislike the White Moon Senshi every bit as you do, apparently. ********,” he grumbled, paranoid that she’d done any damage that might be lasting.

It wasn’t like she’d been wielding barbed wire or anything, but if his mother saw any abnormal injury, Remarque knew she’d ask questions and worry—and then he’d have to lie to his mother, and that just left him feeling dirty. “Have you ever even met a senshi? We have totally different energy signatures.”

Dark Mirror senshi? What on earth was that? When he continued talking, she glanced away. “Nope. You’re the first senshi that I’ve come across, Remarque. I just thought I was doing my job…since you felt different than negaverse agents. I’ve met them before. I didn’t realize there were anything called ‘Dark Mirror’ Senshi. What’s that mean, anyway? It’s a very fancy title, if I do say so myself.” And his clothes, they were fancy too.

“Sorry if I cut you. No hard feelings, okay? I really didn’t know…I wish we were told things like that. Are the negaverse real friendly with you Dark Mirror Senshi? Am I going to get in trouble for this? I really don’t want to get into trouble.”

If the senshi was dark, what if he was working for the negaverse? Oh, Painite was going to hand her a** right back to her for this, she was quite sure of it. What a pile of poo this night was turning out to be.

The girl's entire attitude seemed to shift, and Remarque might have regretted coming across as harsh if he was inclined to regret anything. He had the opportunity of whining to Leto or seeking out Howlite to complain about another pain-in-the-a** Negaverser, but in this instance he realized that Mesolite was just an overzealous new recruit who hadn't quite gotten a grip on her role in the Negaverse.

He didn't blame her; it was a lot to take in as a Dark Mirror Senshi, and the Negaverse had been feuding with the Senshi for far longer, so he assumed they had a lot more ground to cover.

"No hard feelings," he finally agreed, deciding it best she not have a reason to go complain to her bosses about that 'big mean Dark Mirror Senshi who punched me and knocked me over'.

He shifted positions to rest his hands on his hips as he looked the girl over. "We share a common enemy--the White Moon Senshi and the Knights they work with. The Dark Mirror Court wants to eradicate the White Moon, either by guiding them into our court or by permanently removing them altogether. The Senshi can still be saved, they're just blinded by inadequate leaders. They just need proper guidance. There are those," he shrugged, "Who are too far gone and will never see the error of their ways. Those, they have to be eliminated. But I won't blame you, you were just trying to do your job. I can't be mad at you for not knowing any better. It's not like there are a whole lot of Dark Mirror Senshi running around, not in comparison to the White Moon. It's understandable you wouldn't have known the difference."

He was still going to hold a grudge against her for slashing at his face, no matter how 'understandable' this little mishap was.

She made a face. “There are knights too? What the hell is this? Like, the senshi really have people on horses with suits of armor on riding around the city?” This was just getting stranger and stranger. “Nevermind. Don’t answer that. I suppose I’ll find out for myself one day. Sailor Remarque, thank you for filling me in with these…rather important things. I wish I would have been told them before I attacked you out of the blue. It would have been very helpful.”

She shook her head, rather embarrassed with the whole situation now. Her first fight with someone, and she made a complete and utter fool of herself. Well, she wasn’t going to let that happen again anytime soon, this was a promise. She would be sure to check and double check people. No need to attack the wrong ones, right? Right.

“Well…I’m going to get out of here now, before I say or do something else that I’ll regret. I really am sorry that I attacked you, and I hope you have a pleasant evening.” Mesolite darted off before he could say anything more, stringing together a new plan. A plan to get a real senshi and fight with it. Rip its stupid little roots out of the ground so the flowering tree could grow stronger. Yeah. Now, that was a plan she could stick to.

And she figured it would be easy now, she knew what energy signatures that the senshi wasn’t…now she only had to find an energy signature that a senshi was.

Remarque stared after the Negaverse agent, trying to remember if she had even given her name. This wasn’t necessarily an experience he was going to go off and brag about, but everything had happened so quickly, he wasn’t quite sure what to make of it all. Mesolite, that was her name? Was gone before he could even say goodbye—not that he particularly cared for such trivial things. Remarque was simply impressed with her ability to high-tail it out of there.

He lingered in the area for a moment longer, as if waiting for her to change her mind and come back to ask more questions, though it became obvious after a moment that she was completely content to carry on.

Shaking his head, Remarque rubbed the back of his neck and tried to remember what he’d been doing before the girl dropped in. Gathering energy?

…Yeah, that sounded like a good plan. Gather some energy and get home before he ran into any more weirdos.
