"Cepheith!" Narisa groaned.
The gold snorted at her rider. It still is not right! Push the trunk over against that wall.
"I already did that! Three times now. And you still complained about it." The goldrider muttered and obliged her dragon yet again, pushing her trunk of belongings against the opposite wall, which placed the trunk at the foot of her bed now. "Happy?"
It was probably quite a comical sight to stumble across. The large dragon had attempted to fit her snot inside the doorway to her rider's weyr. When that failed, she just smushed the side of her face against it so she could see inside. Having been rather bored and not able to do anything that she wanted to, Cepheith had decided Narisa needed to reorganize things. In her weyr. Thus, the young queen had been ordering Hers around (or nagging to the point of annoying) until she did what the gold one 'asked'.
Yes, but that other junk-
"It was my journal and writing supplies!"
-was cluttering the corner. Now it looks tidy. Cepheith said in satisfaction, quite comfortable sprawled out along the shore with one leg and her head the only parts of her body sprawled along the bungalow's small porch.
Narisa just flopped down on the trunk, arms crossed as she surveyed her living space. Okay, she had to admit it did look much tidier now. Not that she was a slob by any means! Cepheith just had that knack for organizing things to a fine point when the mood struck her. And since neither of them could be out and about like the other rider's as much, Cepheith obviously needing something to do. Oh how I miss the hatchling days, when she could chase a sharding ball around inside!
A draconic chuckle let her know the Queen found the thought of playing with a 'ball' at her current size amusing. Narisa just rolled her eyes. "You better not trip anyone with your tail. And what if I want to leave?"
Then ask and I might move? She offered, mellow green eyes twinkling. There was a pause, before she added, Oh! I think we may have some company coming our way, finally! Whether that was coincidental or by choice was a different story. Of course, the gold made no effort to move away from her...awkward position.

Mine, we should go walking.
"Rrgh." I don't wanna go walking, Pip, I wanna keep sleeping. Besides, my leg hurts.
It was a lame excuse, and his dragon recognized it as one. Don't be ridiculous. It's not that bad, and even if it were, walking would be good for it. Up! Get up!
"I know that, I just- ugh, fine. Whatever." Set'al knew well that he was never going to get back to sleep now; Pipith had it in his mind that they were going to do something, and they were going to do it! If he refused, the bronze would get back at him by keeping him awake, which would defeat the point of having stayed in bed in the first place. Defeated, he rose and dressed and off they went down the lakeshore.
But even then, Pipith was contentious. Stop limping, it looks bad!
"What d'you mean, stop limping?" he responded incredulously. "It's not like it's a choice!"
If you wanted to, you could stop. I would!
"That's wherry s**t, and you know it. I remember when you sliced your foot open, and you totally gimped around."
That was different. Pipith sniffed, offended. It was a cut, and it was my foot - things would have gotten in it if I'd walked on it! This is just your leg. I wouldn't be limping, if I just had a score on my leg.
Set'al rolled his eyes. "Well, the rest of us aren't made from pure stubbornness the way you are. Draybeast."
Fine. At least it will remind people that we fought Thread, but don't do it too much. We wouldn't want Cepheith and Hers to think you're being weak.
"What d- oh." He'd been so absorbed in the argument with his dragon, he hadn't been paying attention to much else, and had completely missed where Pipith had walked them to. Seriously, dragon? I'd say I can't believe you, but sadly, I can.
Good morning, Cepheith! Pipith sent cheerfully.
"Morning," Set'al echoed. It was much too late to turn around now! Although he would only have done it to spite his dragon, really, as he had no actual reason to want to avoid the gold pair.

"What do you mean we-" Oh shards there really was someone out there! And here she was, glowering from the trunk she sat on, being held 'hostage' inside by her dragon. Okay maybe not that dramatic. "Cepheith!" She hissed, getting to her feet quickly and trying to make her appearance look....presentable. Narisa groaned. If she could pull off dusty pants, a wrinkled blouse and hastily pulled back hair it would be a miracle.
Good morning to you and yours, Pipith! The gold said casually, good humor in her honey warm tones as she made sure to include all of them in her greeting. A snort of laughter escaped her, directed towards her rider. So lovely to see you both. What brings you here today? Cepheith politely inquired finally moving as Narisa shoved against her head.
"Morning....to you too...!" Narisa called out in between shoves. "Your boredom is going to be the death of me." She added with a final push as the gold moved.
Perhaps if we could go out and do something, I would not be so bored.
"Please excuse her Majesty here," Narisa said with sarcasm laced in her words. "She has too much energy and not enough options to waste it on." The goldrider sighed, attempting to brush off her pants and make her shirt less wrinkled, then promptly gave up. She eyed Cepheith, who moved to lay in a much more desirable spot for a gold, then gave Set'al a smile. "Would you be interested in a cup of klah?" She nodded over her shoulder towards her weyr. "Got a mostly full pot that's probably still warm. Or slightly warm."
There are plenty of options! I am just not allowed to choose most of them. The gold huffed, looking to her bronze counterpart. I am clearly just not appreciated.
"Go organize fish, oh golden one~" Narisa offered cheekily with an amused grin for Set'al. "Dragons!"

Mine wanted to stretch his legs, so we decided to go for a walk, Pipith answered, glossing over the fact that Set'al had wanted to do nothing of the sort. How would it look if he told the truth about his rider wanting to sleep in? He'd seem lazy, that's what, and it would reflect poorly on Pipith, who was the opposite of lazy, most of the time.
"I'd love a cup." Maybe then he'd feel more than half awake! If he noticed that Narisa was dusty and her blouse wrinkled, he gave no indication.
The little bronze dipped his head in respectful greeting to Narisa, then trundled over to sit near the Queen. I appreciate you, he attempted to charm. Is there anything I can do to help?
"Tell me about it," Set'al sympathized, returning the grin. Dragons, indeed.

Walks are very enjoyable. Mine and I take them frequently. Of course the other half of that was because the gold couldn't stand sitting here and doing nothing. She was too active for that! Which was why her rider usually made them go on walks. Or fly around the Weyr. Anything to waste some of her energy. And it also gives us the chance to see how those of the Weyr are fairing. Something Narisa highly encouraged them to do.
Narisa gave Set'al one of those looks that said she absolutely knew how he felt right now. Cepheith in one of her moods would have her feeling the same way. "Wonderful!" She grinned and nodded in return to Pipith, then gave Cepheith a look before smiling and gesturing for Set'al to come in and sit down while she snatched the pot of klah and a couple cups. "How's the leg doing, by the way?"
The gold gave a dip of her head in greeting to Set'al, turning her attention to Pipith. It was nice to have company! Thank you. It is nice to at least have someone appreciate me. Her tail flicked with amusement as she relaxed where she lay. Your company is a big help. She paused, glossing through her rider's mind. How are you and your rider feeling?
She poured the klah into the cups, handing one over to Set'al. A light laugh escaped. "You too then, huh?" Narisa sat heavily at the little dining table. "I believe they forgot to mention in lessons how much of a pain a restless dragon could be." She said dryly, good natured humor in her tone. "Not that I can really blame anyone for the...uh, 'restrictions' we have right now. I'd just like to see them tell Cepheith for once."

"Well, it's still attached," he answered, looking down at it with a shrug. "Could be worse, could be better, but nothing really worth complaining about." Except to his dragon, primarily for the purposes of annoying him.
Set'al accepted the cup of klah with a grateful nod and had a seat as well. "Yeah, really. 'By the way, you're never going to sleep in again.'" He shook his head, glancing towards the door and the dragons outside. "Pip's bad enough anyway, he'd be a nightmare if somebody put restrictions on us. That's gotta be a pain."
In that case, feel free to call on us anytime you need assistance. Pipith's eyes whirled pleasantly, and he ignored the complaints His spoke to Cepheith's. They gave each other a hard time, but usually with no hard feelings. We are doing well. His leg bothers him, but it's not bad. I think he would complain less if it were not his leg.

She couldn't help but glance down at his leg as well. Narisa had feared - though she'd only admitted it to Cepheith privately - that perhaps she hadn't done a good enough job. And that it would get infected. Or something worse would happen. Always second guessing yourself. She thought with wry amusement, though it was true. She did second guess herself a lot.
Thankfully Cepheith disagreed with it ninety-nine percent of the time.
"I'm glad it's doing alright." Narisa smiled. "And you as well. I'd hate to lose such a fine rider pair as yourself and Pipith."
They are a fine pair, aren't they? Cepheith mused to her rider, head tilted slightly to admire the smaller bronze.
It took Narisa a good minute to put two and two together and connect what Cepheith was saying verses what she'd said. And her cheeks lit up nicely. Followed by a scowl sent in the direction of the gold dragon. <That is so not what I meant!> She attempted to defend herself with some dignity.
"A nightmare." She echoed, nodding and glancing over at Set'al. "That is an excellent word to use!" Sighing, she leaned back in the chair she sat in, sipping at the cup of klah she had. "Honestly, I think it's just because she's young still." Narisa murmured. "And hasn't really had the chance to stretch her wings like most dragons. It's the one thing she complains about the most. Not being able to fly like she wants."
There was a pause, before she added in a quieter tone, "She and I both just want to do what we can for our Weyr though. Even if it means whining about restrictions we'll still follow."
Cepheith considered what Pipith said and dipped her head in agreement. I think you are right. Our humans use their legs so much. The gold snorted, wings unfurling slightly. I will definitely call on you if we need you and yours. Or just to provide amusement by making ours chat with one another. Clearly, the young Queen could be equally amusing.

"We hold together pretty well. Pipith's tough enough for both of us and then some." It was hard to imagine that anything could stop the little bronze, certainly not permanently.
Set'al noticed Narisa's sudden blush, and had to wonder for a moment if he'd said something, but once she scowled towards her dragon, it was clear that it was something Cepheith had said. He couldn't help but be curious as to what, but he wouldn't ask. He knew there were certain things his dragon said that he wasn't inclined to share.
"They restrict her flying, too? No wonder she's not happy." If someone were to tell Pipith he couldn't fly, he'd do it anyway, without hesitation. "Do you get to fly at all?"
And they only have two. It is a wonder they don't fall over more. The bronze watched her flex her wings, and twitched his own. They are very good at providing amusement, are they not? You are welcome to Mine whenever you like.

"That's good. I fear that many of our rider's might be..." she paused, searching for the right word to use. "Well, fearful I guess." Narisa sighed, leaning back in the chair, eyes staring at her cup of klah. Alright if she was being honest - which she didn't like sharing with anyone - she was afraid. What if Abigail didn't wake up? Would her duties then be split amongst herself and the other, more senior, goldrider? Shards, was she even read to take on such a task?
Is anyone ever ready? Do not fear so. We will be ready when the time comes.
Narisa was glad at least one of them was confident about that.
And no she was not appreciating the amused and not quite appropriate table talk thoughts swimming around in her dragons mind. She coughed into her hand, trying to force the blush away from her cheeks.
"To a certain degree, yes." Narisa said, grasping at the subject. "We are allowed to fly, but we can't venture outside the Weyr. Not that Queens seem to do that often anyways." She paused. "At least not from what I've heard. But they like to know where we are at all times and if we do fly, they very much...appreciate us inviting someone along. For protection." Really, it was just a pain in the sharding a**. Even for Narisa.
"It makes me wonder, sometimes, how the rest of the Weyr views us. The 'young Gold pair'. Who aren't much help being under house arrest." Okay so it wasn't quite that bad. But close enough in the gold pairs eyes.
I have been curious about that. And have observed mine when she's in an exceptionally clumsy mood. They definitely fall over more than we do. Cepheith snorted in amusement, head canting to the side slightly as she looked her bronze companion over. I like this. And I think mine would like that as well. A pause followed by some devilish giggles. Yes, I think we should pair ours together more often for our own amusement! I think Mine is red again.

"I can't blame them. Even without Thread, things were...well." He trailed off with a shrug. "With it, there's just that much more to handle."
Set'al was having his own share of trouble with his dragon's thoughts, with their undercurrent of ulterior motives. He wanted to spend time with Cepheith because she was a gold, not just because he liked her company (which he did, but even if he hadn't, he would have endured it), and he wanted his rider to be friendly with hers for similar reasons. He was seeking an advantage for a certain inevitable future event, and Set'al really wasn't on board with that way of thinking.
And yet here he was. "I don't think they see you that way, and if anybody does, they aren't looking at it right. It's not your fault they've got restrictions on you, and besides, you did a good job the other day. Everyone was looking to you and Cepheith, and you both handled it really well."
He felt quiet approval from Pipith, but gave irritation in return. Don't even start, that's not why I said it.
Ignoring his rider's response, the bronze returned his full attention to Cepheith. This is an excellent plan. We should see sometime how red we can make them. Having kept an ear on the two, he also offered, We would fly with you, if you like.
And...'protect' you. Or, in other words, attempt to enable rebellion, as his playful tone suggested. Why shouldn't the young gold have fun?
