Meanwhile, the villagers begin to panic and hastily try to put out the flaming house that didn't kill people yet.

Range increments work by multiples. So anything within 80' is 1 range increment. 81-160 is 2 range increments and draws a -2 penalty. 161-240 is 3 incrments and draws a -4 penalty.

And so on and so forth.

Serena knew she had about one more shot before this goblin got out of range, making her unable to just stay put to attack. She loaded the crossbow one more time and took aim, firing as soon as she had a clear shot.
