The second she stepped back, breaking the contact, she regretted it, missed the feel of his hand on her cheek and her hand over his, that briefest touch of her lips on his skin. Her fluttering heart was at war with her logical mind, and she wasn't even sure which one was winning...or which one she wanted to win. She took a deep breath, trying to no avail to settle herself and get hold of even one clear thought, but then he stepped close again, and they all slipped out of reach.
The feel of his hand against her cheek again was an indescribable relief - she had missed it in those short moments - and she canted her head ever so slightly into his touch.
His question didn't need words, and neither did her answer. She rose up on the balls of her feet to meet his lips with hers.
Logic lost.

The kiss sent heat searing through him, racing down his spine and enveloping his insides with flame. It burned--but in the best way one could possibly imagine. He pressed closer, eager to deepen the contact between them even as his free hand dropped to her waist. She was beautiful, wonderful, simply divine.
And to think, she was here, with him, despite the fact that he was tall and far too drastically thin. She didn't seem to care about any of that.
The sweetness of her lips threatened to overwhelm him, and Laurence finally seemed to understand what all those ridiculous stories about love really added up to.
They'd be preoccupied with one another long into the night... a small blessing, considering all the strangeness they'd ended up in.
