The day was a warm one, a perfect day for the activities that had been planned for it. The sun kissed the world and blessed it with his heat as a cool breeze filtered through the foliage, inviting the world’s inhabitants out to play. That was just what had been planned, seeing as it was one of their play days. In fact, almost anytime that their uncle visited it turned into a play day. It was something that couldn’t be helped. When growing up without a male influence in one’s life left a young male very energized when one should happen to appear.
A dark coated colt laughed merrily as he danced through the patches of shadow and sunlight, playing with his Uncle. It was a silly game they all played, a running game. A game where one would run, one would touch, shout "Tag" and then they would switch. The rules were easy to follow and it kept the boys busy for long amounts of time. It tired them out to boot, so that when it came time to bed down for the night, they were too tired to put up much of a fight. They had played this game for as long as he could remember and he could never be sure if his Uncle had played fair or had just let him get far away on purpose. Maybe he had just gotten too old to keep up, but that didn’t matter. Blair just loved the thrill of it all. It was so much fun to run and to be chased or to be the one that did the chasing.
"Come on Uncle Adrian!" Cried the colt breathlessly as he made a wild dash around a large tree trunk, though he tried, he was unable to stifle his laughter.

"Whoa!" The small male jumped in surprise. He had not expected his uncle to come around from the other side of the tree. It was a clever tactic and it was one that he would have to remember for later. It come in handy against his sibling, whom was easily up to his same level, to throw him off balance and tire him out much quicker for the day. This was a good game. It easily prepared the boys for life. They were given the chance to stretch their legs, push their muscles to the limit and build up a good amount of strength. This way they were prepared to go out on their own and fight or flight from potentially dangerous situations that required a great deal of strength and stamina to be taken care of at will.
He loved these visits and as far as he was concerned, he wasn’t really missing out of much not having a father. After all, he had a beautiful, loving mother, an awesome brother and a great uncle. His life was still full of people even though there was one that was supposedly supposed to be there, that was not. And while his brother and him may have or may not have been a rowdy bunch without having a father around all the time, they were no worse for the wear. If anything it taught them to be more patient for those things that they did want; such as quality time with their uncle. Who needed a father? Not Blair. He couldn’t miss what he never had. Or at least that was how he looked at it.
"I’m gonna get you Uncle Adrian!" It had come down to the wire now. This had always been his favorite part. The run was fun, yes, but the chase was just that much more amusing. With a gleeful whinny he reared wildly and tossed his short hair. "And then…" The youth snorted, tossed his mane once more and darted toward his uncle at full speed. "I’m gonna lick your mane the wrong way!" That was something that the boy hated himself, when his mother or brother would lick his mane in the wrong direction. It simply didn't sit right on his head and neck and it was so uncomfortable. He wore a devilish grin as he galloped toward his uncle. He was particularly fast, but he wasn’t exactly slow either.

Blair bounded forward. All along the forest floor twigs snapped under hoof as he galloped toward his uncle with malicious intent to destroy the older stallion’s good looks. Or at least destroy them for the time being, seeing as if he licked it straight down, it would take quite a lot of shaking and tossing to get it back in order. Unfortunately, genetics had not been kind. Both boys had inherited their father's mohawk of a mane. That was okay though, licking it into strange directions was a game that he liked to play with his brother as well. He would chase him around and try to lick his locks into strange directions because it just looked so darn silly when his hair was sticking up just like the feathers on a birds head. There was even one time as his mother was grooming him that she had even succeeded in making Blair’s mane look like that of a cardinal’s head by licking it into place. At least that’s what he had thought once the grooming session was over. He had run around all that day, until it fell, pretending to be a bird, and felt only slightly put off that he had not inherited his mother’s beautiful wings with which to fly with.
"Oh, I’ll catch you alright!" The colt huffed as he skidded briefly to a halt. The sudden change of direction took him for a loop and caused him to pause for a moment. That was his Uncle, Uncle Adrian, always full of sneaky tactics and surprises. That was probably one of the main reasons why Adrian was so loved by Blair. Every time they were together, he learned something new, something interesting to help him and his brother pass the time. It wasn’t simply that he was the only male figure that they had in their lives, but because he had so much to offer them in his short visits.
Giddily he set himself into motion again and ran as fast as his muscles would allow him. His breathe came in short, hard puffs as he ran just alongside his Uncle’s rump. He had come so close that he could almost touch him if he tried. With a great deal of effort he stretched out his neck and bumped his nose into Adrian’s side.
"GotCHA!" He cried breathlessly as he slowed his pace and trotted momentarily in place with glee.

Heavily the boy panted, he had worked up quite a thirst in the process of their play. What with all the running and laughing he had just done, and thus he did not protest when his uncle nudged him along toward the water. Willingly he trotted alongside his uncle as the stallion went to examine his handy work. While the Uncle Adrian examined himself, Blair made a great deal about splashing around in the shallows and gulping down a few mouthfuls of water, even though his body had already cooled down quite a bit. At that point he was simply in it for the fun of chasing the little fish away from the water’s edge.
He cantered his way out of the shallows and wandered ever closer to his ridiculous looking ward. Adrian didn’t look exactly like a bird, but it was all well and good. He still looked outright goofy, which was good enough for the dark colt. Flicking his tail he stood next to his Uncle and grinned before leaning down for one more drink from all his minor play. A while ago he had been startled to see that there was another colt about his age in the water. Recently he had been told that it wasn’t another colt and in fact, it was him. He had marveled at it for a while when he had first been told, doing strange things to see the colt in the water do them as he did. Now it was common place and didn’t affect him at all. Or it wouldn’t have, had he not noticed something very strange.
He blinked, surprised by what he was seeing. His mother and his brother and he looked the same. None of them looked exactly the same, he had been told that was impossible and boring, but each of them had a piece of each other in them. Now, as he stood beside this large black stallion, he noticed something rather peculiar. Some of his pieces almost looked like the pieces that dear uncle Adrian possessed. So startled was the young colt that he had to double take to make sure that he had not simply made up what he was seeing. But no, it was there as clear as black and white. He had been told that Adrian was simply a very good friend to his mother and that between him and the boys there was no connection other than one of love. "You..." He stopped himself short, ashen eyes gazed up at Adrian, stunned and confused.
