So Sidra once again again found herself perched on the top of Moonfall Tower. She had first scaled the building when she was little older than twelve, the silver haired girl could not remember what had possessed her to take such a feet but it was far from the last time she would risk her life scaling the high walls. Even now she possessed the power of flight she climbed, crawling onto ledges, pulling herself up the statues and decorative stones. It was a path she had walked since she was a child, she knew the layout of the tower like most people knew their homes - which stones were loose, what was the most direct route to the top. The clock-face had become her favourite place in the whole world, she liked to sit on the ledge and look down at how small the world had become, take in the sights of far off lands and dream about the adventures which were waiting there, ready to be discovered. She had always wanted to branch out and explore, but for some reason she was still here... looking out at a world she was yet to discover.

If nothing else, this place was like a sanctuary to her. It felt like the evils of the world could no longer reach her, it was the one place where she truly felt safe, the one place she could come and think if anything was plaguing her mind.

Today she was thinking of the events of the night before, she had been picked up by a carriage in the dead of night and taken to train with the Blackhearts. She had always feared the warriors in dark armour, she suffered from nightmares about them hunting her down, impaling her with those terrifying weapons she carried. Though upon meeting them they did not seem to live up to the monstrous image she had created for them. Infact one or two seemed like decent people, if not hungry for revenge. One thing was for sure, all of them had been wounded in someway by her kind, no wonder they wanted them dead - she did not blame them. Not in the slightest.

She had always hated herself for what she was and most certainly did not support Witch-Eaters of any kind, just because she had the potential to be a monster did not mean she craved to be one, nor did she sympathise with them. They were the reason that everyone hated her kind, the reason why she had lived all her life in fear and secrecy. She would be better off if they were all dead, she wanted them all dead...

She wondered if she and the Blackhearts could have a future together, was it really so impossible? I mean they would not hunt down one of their own members and she would be able to keep and eye on them, make sure her secret remained as such. It was certainly a way to make sure she was not going to get hunted. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Heck, maybe they did not have to be her enemies, they both had a common goal, maybe that was enough to make an alliance. She knew they did not have much respect for her at the moment, but maybe she could change that.

It was something to look into, but she had a long way to go before she was strong enough to follow such a path.

Farae wings flapped, the blue aura they gave off contasting against the orange and purple that streaked through the sky. Moonfall had always been her home, but maybe soon her place would be in Poena Privus.

User ImageIt was a rare occasion lately that Rosel be in her hometown, much less out and wandering the streets. She’d spent the evening in a tavern clear on the other side of town, playing cards and drawing attention to herself, a usual good time. The walk back was considerably less fun, though she did distract herself by sipping from the auras of every witch she passed. If she could make a baby or two cry, that was a plus.

The clock tower chimed the hour and Rosel looked up at it. She never really paid attention to it, unless she was hungover and wishing its destruction for chiming all the damned time. The structure was really quite beautiful, in that boring aesthetic sense that man-made boxes could be. Like her own home – beautiful for the sense that it conveyed her wealth, but mostly appreciated because it was a nice place to sleep at night.

She stopped fully to look up at the tower as the last of the chimes died. It stood tall and black against the fiery dusky sky. Except… Rosel frowned and squinted at the face. A blue glow moved though the shadows up there, far too big to be some kind of insect or child’s toy. A toothy grin appeared on Rosel’s face. Somebody was up there, being naughty and flying around. A fellow witch eater most likely; who else would be flying?

She gave a discreet look around before moving immediately into an alleyway. Disappointingly, no thugs jumped out to tangle with her, and she turned the corner to pause behind the building. Still, no innocent bystanders about. Disappointing for getting a snack, but perfect for taking a little stroll upwards.

Launching herself upwards, she darted in between windows and kept to the shadows. Her heels clicked against the bricks, then the rain pipes, and finally the brickettes of the nearest building to the clock tower. Up, up, up, and she kept her eyes on the blue glow resolving itself into a young woman perched on the clock face.

By chance more than design, Rosel floated up silently behind the young woman, and perched herself on the inner lip of the face. Her heels clicked dramatically in the light breeze. Lovely evening for a stroll, isn’t it?”
