It was midday, the big burning orb in the sky burned as bright as can be and Koios spent a few minutes waging war on. His war lead to him blinking profusely and gaxing away. The sun had won the staring contest and he could vaguely hear a scolding in the back of his den about damaging his eyes if he did that any longer. He sighed softly and moved on, giving a quick call back stating he was going to look around the pride some more. So far he had met a very sweet female about his age and was excited to meet more.

There were three things that were beyond a doubt sure to him at this point. First, it was hot, second he was dark and lastly he was miserable. However, the orange seemed to deflect some of the suns rays, but needless to say he was still quite hot at the moment. His mother and siblings hadn't been in the pridelands all that long and he had yet to get out and see much of it. Today had seemed as good a day as any to do such a thing. He had promised his mother he wouldn't wander to far, but then again, he never really did as he was told; at least most of the time. As he was walking about he noticed something peculiar that made him forget all about his being hot. Watching as a white cub tried to stare at the sun seemed a bit odd to him and it fasinated him enough to want to see who this young male was. Maybe he even knew some good places to hide from watchful parents. He watched as the cub shook his head and started walking and he decided he'd follow not to far from behind. He was contemplating on pouncing on the cub and cleared his throat instead. "The Sun won no doubt?" He inquired as he came to a slow pace beside the white male.

The throat clearing and sudden voice startled the young white cub from his thoughts, he stopped his step and turned to meet the gaze of orange orbs. His own green orbs stared straight at them as he broke into a smile. The cubs pelt was nothing like he'd seen before, this cubs parents must be quite the sight if this was what a mere creation looked like. It took him some time to not gawk.

"For now." He said playfully. The sun, Koios was sure, would always win the untimed battle of staring. He felt sure as that that he was getting better and could stare longer, but found it hard to see after the fact. Even now he saw small light spots in his vision that was simply irking. "One day I will win, if I'm lucky." His smile never ceased.

"I'm Koios, whats your name?" He spoke curiously, his tone meeting the quetion like a perfect symphony as if he was always asking questions. His eyes took a moment to look over the cub before meeting his gaze once more.

As the white cub stopped in his tracks Areo paused in his movements and plopped a seat facing the light male. The first thing that came to mind when the male smiled was, 'Kisa would love him'. Not that he was matchmaking for his sister or anything, but she smiled an aweful lot and this cubs grin reminded him of her. The male seemed energetic enough that Areo was intriqued to stay and listen to him as he went on about one day winning a contest with the sun. He found that highly unlikely, but stranger things have happened and he wasn't going to crush his hopes. He simply nodded and he grinned slightly when he introduced himself as Koios. He noted the cub seemed intriqued by his coloring because he kept staring, even if he wasn't trying to be noticeable about it.

"We aren't from the pridelands.." He stated cooly in regards to the looks from the male, "I'm Areoiris, but please, call me Areo." He flicked his tail across the ground and couldn't help but notice how full of energy Koios had and how Happy he seemed. 'Yep. Kisa would love him' His plan hadn't been at all to try and match make for his sister, especially this early into their life, but what could it hurt? Maybe this energetic furball was as curious about things as he was. Just because he seemed happy didn't mean Areo wasn't going to like him. "Do you like exploring?"

Areo, as Koios had found the black male liked to be called.. was looking him over and Koios got the idea that he was thinking about something completely different as they spoke. "I figured as much." His smile grew smaller, but remained friendly. He didn't dislike outsiders, but he certainly grew wary/ The eyes, the pelt, everything screamed something from beyond this ground they walked on, Koios thought about the background of the cub curiously while barely hearing the continuing voice.

"I love to explore!" He startled himself a little with how suddenly excited he was, but he couldn't help. Outsider or not a cub was a cub and a chance to explore meant a lot. "Where would you like to go Areo?" Koios asked cautiously, he was trying to run through the rules his Mother had set, but at this time completely blanked out on them. As far as his brain was concerned, for the time being, he was ruleless.

Areo really couldn't say that he was differnet from the cubs that had been born on the pridelands, however, he hadn't really met many and as far as he knew, they were rather different looking, minus their mother, if you would refer to her as normal. He made a small note of the fading grin of the other male at his words and it piqued his interest a tad. He was about to say something when the excited shout of Koios made him almost jump up with how excited and exuberent he was. He stood up with a smile. "Anywhere and everywhere!" He said excitedly. He made a note of the cubs earlier reaction but found that there was no need to worry about it for now. He may or may not ask mother later about the whole prideland/outsider thing.

"I haven't been able to see much yet, you know how mothers are. 'Don't go far darling, make sure you clean behind your ears!' Yuk." He did the whole motherly tone when he tried to imitate what his mom normally did. It made him chuckle and he looked to the white male for guidance of where they might go, if he didn't have any ideas, they could just go and look around.

"Anywhere... Everywhere!" He proclaimed playfully, the map had been completely unburdened with decision. They were free to roam and so Koios began to lead. He imagined finally reaching the infamous Pride Rock and achieving atleast a single urge. Then he recalled the excited look from Nimbe when they had spoken about it and he almost regreted thinking it. He was sure she wouldn't mind if he went ahead with his new friend? He decided it was fine and headed there.

"Oh yeah.. my Mother isn't quite as naggy, but she be a bit of a bore." He grumbled, and giggled in order after Areo had performed a very convincing mock voice of a Mother beading with concern. "Will Pride Rock work as a place to explore?" He asked the dark cub curiously.

"I would rather my mother be a bore. She's a bit on the protective side...." His voice trailed off as he followed the white cub. Pride Rock? He looked over at the cubs inquiring glance and he had heard of the large rock, but never really had thought he might see it. He wondered how far away it was. Koios didn't seem to concerned so Areo wasn't going to pay it too much mind then. "My brothers and sisters are going to be so jealous!" He said a bit excitedly. He picked up his pace a bit but then slowed back down because he really had no idea where he was going and that was one of the reasons he wanted to explore, so he knew where everything was and didn't have to ask questions.

"Do you have any siblings?" He asked the cub swishing his tail back and forth. He didn't have a care in the world right now and he was starting to forget about his mothers constant worrying for them to stay nearby.

"Oh, I wouldn't say mine is all to protective, sucks for you though!" He alughed lightly, teasing the other cub, knowing full well what it is like to have a protective parent, his Mother wasn't to bad considering though. Koios yawned lightly as he lead them to the infamous rock, it was an exciting adventure he'd have to tell his other new friend all about when he got the chance.

"Mine will be too!" He said, answering both questions at once, he tried to remember if any of his family, besides his Mother, had seen pride rock as of it. He couldn't recall it and thus remained proud. "I wonder how big it is!?" He asked suddenly, getting more excited as each paw step took them closer, he could see something in the distance ahead of them. He was sure it was the large rock their ancestors had laid paws on. Koios was all smiles from the excitement.

"You have Nooo Idea." He said flattening his ears slightly. 'I'm surprised she hasn't come found me by now." He said with a mischevious grin. The thrill of being out here, against his mothers wishes. Made him smile he'd been out here as long as he had. He always tried to see how long he could be away for before she came and got him, or sent someone to find him. Him and his siblings were rather easy to spot with their unique colorings, that the the paler two had wings.

He had heard of the big rock since they had arrived on the pridelands, though didn't know a whole too lot about it. It really hadn't been top on his list of priorities. "How much do you know about this rock?" He was a bit curious. If it was so exciting he wanted to know a bit more about it so he could rub it in his siblings faces when he made his way back home. He noted how much the other cub was grinning and he figured it must be a pretty big deal if he was so exuberant about it.

It certainly made Koios realize how long he had been out, he had no fear of any sort of consequence, but knew he was in for a wreckless time. He giggled slightly and simply kept going.

"To be honest?" He said this while directing his eyes to the ground, his paws suddenly more interesting than anything. "I know it has been with our pride as long as they've known.. and our ancestors used it for different purposes." He said, trying to think hard if he had caught any form of information while wandering around the pride on his own.

But unfortunately none that he could recall came to mind.

Since the other didn't know much about it, it made it even that more interesting to Areo. A place neither of them knew much about, no adult supervision, the chance to get in trouble and all the time in the world! Life couldn't be better. Though, if mother showed up then all the time in the world wouldn't be on that list anymore. Areo looked around and spotted a huge shape in the distance, the shadows it was casting was enormous and he wondered if that was it. "Is that it in the distance?" If it was, he would be more than happy to race the other there and see who might make it. Though seeing how it was a distance away they would both probably wear themselves out before they got even remotely close. "We could make it into a game and see who can get the closest before we get tired." He said with a toothy grin and a playful bounce. He looked at Koios wondering if he would agree to play or not.

[sorry it took so long... things have been going on]

Oh so eager, Koios stared off in the direction indicated by the other cub. "Oh. My. Gosh." His words were distinctly spread out in a rapid growth of excitement, he was obviously thinking in or around the same things Areo was! Oh what an adventure is to be had.. Koios had a moment to pause and think about the ways to go about this and all added up to the end of Areos sentence.

"A race!" He proclaimed, stating the obvious, but not caring at this moment. There was simply no time for it! He smirked wickedly, a grin only two male cubs about to compete could really share. It was toothy and a trifle funny looking, but was supposed to be mean.

"Where should the start be?" He offered, it would only be fair to judge from a certain perspective, and not where one could start later, thus lasting longer. He could feel an adrenaline rush amplifying through his whole young body.

[No worries, I kinda went MIA for a little~]

Green Ever After

(omg.... >_< Been so long since ive been able to get on here!!!)

"How about that bush over there!" He exclaimed excitedly pointing towards a sad sight what used to probably be a very healthy shrub. He wondered how long they had before their parents found them, but it wasn't the closest thought in his mind. He was more anxious about running towards the huge rock. Maybe they'd even climb it once they got there.

Koios glanced towards the shrubbery. It was certainly a depressing view of what the strong plant might have been. Though, with the climate here, if there was no water it probably didn't stand a lick of a chance. He smiled after the brief, but inspiring glance. "Okay, so, last one to Pride Rock from that plant loses?"

The rules were simple enough, he enjoyed a good race and that adrenaline that had begun now raged through her body. Koios took in a slow and deep breath, enjoying the twitch of his muscles that pulsed with anticipation. Then, abruptly, his voice dropped as if there were someone listening, watching their every move. Koios was about to make this a survival game. "What if we pretend as though we are escaping our parents grasp?" He pondered out loud, eyes glued to the black and orange cub, the companion he was enjoying very much. He had never plotted to go against his families wishes, but something about this cub inspired rebellion.

"We could run, and find a special hiding place to use as cover at the Rock." Koios felt proud of himself, the game sounded fun. First a nice, but aggressive run, than a group effort hide and seek. Between the two of them he was sure they'd find a cool hide out.
