The dark but clear night but a cold wind blew, Hakyoku puffed out his fur to keeping himself warmer as the wind blew through him. The sun had only just set and the moon rising half full in the sky. The Half demon made his way to a tall tree far into the woods. He often came here when he was home, it was his quiet and isolated. Sometimes he needed to be alone. But this time he was waiting for someone, someone he hadn't for some time.
Gathering his thoughts took time, he'd arrived early; his gaze followed the trunk of the large tree in front of him. Without too much of a thought Hakyoku was up the tree close to the top. His settled himself comfortably and gazed to the stars that twinkled silently. His tails swayed back and forth in the wind as he continued to gaze at the stars, the soft moonlight illuminating his dark features.
Hakyoku sniffed the cold night air hopefully, as though trying to catch the scent of the other who was to come. He listened with heightened hearing to the night wind play it's melody. He loved it outside, the sounds, sights and smells, some smells he could do without but still overall there was always something to see, and no one would hate him for his blood either.
Not too long ago that same person's sent would have caused his nose great pains just be be around them. Strange how things turn out isn't it? Fate always had been a strange one.
He had so much to think about...

Eyes ghosted to a shut as another wind swept by, it's invisible presence still known with it's eerie whistling sound as it brushed through the trees. It was a cold air tonight, and Setsu was silently grateful for her heavy coat and fabrics to repel the wind's bite. But for the rest of her fur, still thin from her past health, it was a different matter. Ears pressed back against her hair and tails curved in attempt to avoid the bulk of the wind as she moved on. Despite the distraction, her paws were familiar with this trail and her mind focused on her destination.
Glancing forward, the kitsu took in the landscape that she had long neglected to visit. It was an amusing thing how it still looked familiar to her, even in the dim light of the night. Or perhaps that's why it was such a recognized scene, haloed in soft whites instead of the glare of daylight. The foliage had grown taller though over the months, and it was enough to make her almost second guess herself. Although, she'd been doing that alot lately, and the behavior was not a welcome habit for the female. You would think that after healing and given the gift of breathing once again that her thoughts would be clearer. Like fresh air that she had long been withheld from. So why was that not the case?
Furrowing her brows, Setsu turned to cast a glance across her shoulder. There was a presence in this area, that much she could sense. But the wind had fervently covered any tracks of a scent, and the grass was ruffled beyond use to find any tracks. She tensed naturally, bothered that she was unable to find the source. It led her to seek a subtle shelter in the treeline, and that's when she noticed the finer details. Such as the fresh clawed markings along the dry bark of one tree. Curious, she risked a glance up through the dark branches.

The wind brought the weak familiar scent to him, his ears raised to catch soft footfalls of the approaching kitsu. The wind seemed to calm and the night felt warmer. It was a relief instead of looking like fluff ball with tails sitting on a branch more of his form seemed to return.
The demon kitsu looked down, only once he felt the other close enough. Ah she was here. he could see her through the empty branches, She still seemed in poor health, though it seemed better than before. One of his aunt or his mother's potions might help. he thought idly. He watched her for a time silently she walked toward the base of the tree he sat in. She stared up at him, and he gazed back at her for a time, his eyes glowing slightly with the light. He was happy to see her and see her at all.
Slipping down the tree just as fast and elegantly as he had gone up, he appeared in front of Setsu.
"Setsu," he spoke softly his tails swayed comfortably for the black kitsu. "How, have you been?" he asked, he was unsure of himself for the first time in a long time but he refused to let something like that show.

A grin twitched at the edge of her mouth, and she continued looking up with quiet acknowledgement. She knew that color of eyes above, more piercing and focused than any night owl. Quirking a brow, probably unnoticed in the night, she let out a whisper of a laugh as she settled back and rest her front paws on the bark of the tree. Was he truly going to wait there, encouraging her to trek up the aged plant? But she was in no mood for such heights, and was pleased when she hear a rustling of movement above.
A blink later, she peered over to find the other kitsu rooted to the ground a few feet from herself. It was almost eerie how much he mimiced a shadow with the cover of night making his fur all the darker. Almost like a trick of the eye, if one wasn't looking close enough.
Scrapping her paws from the wood, she turned to better face her companion. "Hakyoku, it's been some time." She gave a small nod in answer to his question, not much wanting to go into details. Since the loss of her horns, headaches had been frequent but barable. But if that was the price to getting better, than so be it. Although she wondered if that normalicy would now bother her blood-scorned friend. "And yourself? Has much changed in these seasons?"

Hakyoku gave a quiet nod of greeting in return it really had been a long time, how many seasons had passed? The half blood wondered gazing at the sky again, the stars were shifting into their spring positions slowly but surely. He looked back to Setsu before giving another nod.
With a sway of his tail he began "The world always does change, I have seen much of it now that all my siblings have grown, only to return to my sister and my aunt having children of their own." The black male had set out to explore the vast realm months ago. His mother too had asked him to remain here for a while to see his new nieces and nephews and so he had stopped traveling and found himself here again.
"You live again," he had seen her around often with his own return to the realm, but he had yet to say a real word to her. He hadn't been sure what to say about it, he had been able to tell by her smell, it no longer burned his nose with decay, but even in death a distinct scent each creature has. He knew it was her, but now with a smell of life instead of undeath.

Giving the other respectable silence as he observed the stars, Setsu took the moment to rest her eyes. It was admittedly late in the night, and in the past it would have made no difference for the female. However, with her changes came the need for a more stable sleeping schedule. It was a new requirement for her, but she figured skipping one night wouldn't hurt. It was worth being in familiar territory with the off chance of meeting old companions.
At his voice she lifted her brows, casting a glance towards the half-demon. "Ah, so they've been changes for the better, I see. Congratulations to your families joy." Stretching her tails and legs idly, Setsu moved herself away from the shadow of the tree to better see and hear the other. The wind had calmed itself, and so her senses were back to their normal abilities. In all the seasons, it was amazing how someone could still smell the same. Like a strange and innate language for the kitsusagi to communicate and remember by.
Setsu stilled at his announcement, and her muzzle seemed to clench slightly. She couldn't tell what was implied in his tone of voice, but she would not jump to any conclusions. Instead, she only nodded in confirmation. "That is true. While my horns granted my strength, they also kept a pulse from my form. It was like a virus that I had to dispell, even if it was reluctantly."

Hakyoku's gaze followed setsu she stepped from the shadow of the tree, and he did likewise, becoming less of a shadow. It felt warmer now at the base of the tree than it had when it sat atop it.
Hakyoku wasn't so sure some days, one of the largest families in the realm was getting exponentially larger. The noise is what bothered him the most, preferring quiet solitude. "Thank you," he replied "they are..." he paused "Very ecstatic about it," he spoke softly
Setsu had not told him of the horn's function previously. But understood, at least an extent, she was allowed only one, life or strength. Hakyoku himself had been born with both, yet blood became both curse and gift to him. He did understand in part. It was the lack of horns that made her sickly then he realized and she had been reluctant to loose the strength she had come to be familiar with "Someone in my family could brew a potion to help you with regaining your strength." he offered certainty in his voice. His Family he swore had an potion for every ailment no matter how obscure. "I am glad for you," he added almost a whisper but he spoke true, she would no longer be hated for being trapped undeath, she lived.

Her brow quirked as she quietly observed the other. Was that a conscious hesitance on his part, in regards to showing joy of his family? Or was he still just processing the news? No matter, it was of no concern to her and her opinion held no wieght in such matters. Besides, it sounds as if those eggs had long hatched; there was no going back for Hakyoku's kin now.
"Hn, they're ecstatic now. But just give them a few weeks. I've heard that parenthood is the cause to some dreadful symptoms." Her tone was flat, but it was easy enough to tell that she was just teasing at the topic. Besides, children were always expected to be the coming of joy and happiness, so it was no surprise to hear of near celebrations from his family members.
Letting a sigh excape her that soon became a yawn, Setsu felt herself ease up a little. What she had been anxious about, she didn't know. But she'd hate to imagine a glance of scorn from the other kitsu, as if her character or qualities had changed any due to her loss. The glance, however, never came. And at his offer to help with her ailments, she twitched a small grin and tilted her head. "That may help, as I have no qualms to experimenting with different healing agents." As a matter of fact, she carried such solutions in the loops of her belt, sealed and protected inside of discarded bullet shells. It was quite useful for appearing as a weapon instead of medicine, even if it was a weapon her paws wouldn't be able to use to begin with.
"I think I am too. I haven't decided yet." Setsu mused over the prospect of being alive now. Sure it helped her to fit in better with outside groups, and a tiny portion of her sand powers were still with her. But all the same, it felt too different to feel comfortable with.

Hakyoku really wasn't unhappy about all the recent eggs, it was just so much at once and he couldn't quite figure out how to cope. It was always his family that was constantly expanding it seemed.
A slight smile appeared on his face as setsu made a light tease, one he couldn't help but continue "Truly it does, doting parent syndrome, I have seen it myself many times." He joked in his own flat tone; he knew his family very well all loving their children. He too still often got an earful from his mother about not being around as much as she liked.
Her yawn cause him some concern, her body required significantly more rest now than before, “Do you need to retire home?” Hakyoku asked, Setsu was still the same as before at least in his eyes, the only real difference he saw as of now was she needed sleep like she hadn’t before. Hakyoku himself had a strange metabolism because of his demon blood.
That was good, she wasn’t opposed to trying to find some sort of potion to help, the half demon after “if there isn’t something they will invent something that will work.” It was just how some in his family seemed to worked. Hakyoku’s tails swished some of the leaves on the ground were carried by the wind, off a ways.
“I’m glad to hear it” he said softly “I can guess it’s still quite an adjustment,” she had another chance to live a full life, and hopefully with his families help she can get back some of the physical strength she seemed to have lost.
