Camelot had been reading the papers and following the news quite a lot recently, and was unsure about some of the things he was reading. It seemed like there were a few reports, spaced out, coming from a spot in the words. Attacks, disturbances, enough to give a general warning not to visit the area but not enough to incite panic.

Attacks and disturbances were business as usual here, after all.

But to Camelot it sounded like trouble, and he wanted to check it out. That was part of his duty, after all. Even if it was an inconvenient distance away. Which was why he decided not to go alone, and dragged Valhalla along for the reconnaissance.

They were on the same team, after all, and he didn't want to bother Shalott and drag her into the woods. He felt Valhalla was a better choice for the nature of the job: they were just going to go take a look. See if there was trouble, then call any of the others as needed.

Simple. What could go wrong?

There were a lot of things going on in his life at this time of the year. He had plenty of school to keep up with, training and practice and games, trying not to throw out his arm (although he was surprised by how well he felt every morning, despite how rough the night before might have been on his shoulder, to which he thanks his knight powers, or whatever they were), as well as patrol and keeping the city free of monsters and bad things in general.

So when Camelot asked him to help out with some supposedly routine patrols, Valhalla had no reason not to get up and out into the city. Or the woods, rather.

"Do you have any idea what we're looking for? A youma or some other phenomenon?" he threw out as suggestions, keeping a hand placed casually at his hip as he walked diagonally behind Camelot. The older man seemed to know what he was looking for (or at least a hunch) so there was no need for Valhalla to jump out in front.

He was just there for backup in case anything happened that Camelot couldn't handle himself. And sometimes it was just nice to have someone to patrol with.

"Well, the reports say it's some sort of animal," Camelot explained, shaking his head slowly. He frowned thoughtfully, not agreeing with that assessment, clearly. The reports weren't right, and had that air of misinformation and missing facts that most reports regarding the strange happenings of the city carried.

"But if there is a youma out here that's just being allowed to attack people, campers and hikers or whatever, then I think it's our job to find it and make sure it stops. I can't imagine it's anything else."

He shook his head.

The youma was probably the right size to pass off as an animal in the dark, and it likely had beast like qualities, but what it was the reports obviously did not say and Camelot had no way of knowing. He hoped they would be able to find some clues, or perhaps even find the youma and take it out without much trouble.

There was always trouble, though.

Valhalla made a 'tck'ing noise when told it was reported to be an animal. "'Some sort of animal' should give that away... If they can't figure out if it's a bear or a coyote or mountain lion, then they might want to advertise that a little more and discourage people from camping until the problem is taken care of," he grumbled, mostly to himself as he stepped over a fallen tree branch, and the lifted a hand to try and swat away the spiderweb he'd just walked through.

"Preaching to the choir," he said with a small grin in Camelot's direction. Of course it was their job to take care of any and all youma. He was more than happy to be alerted to the problem, and even more so to join Camelot in trying to hunt it down.

"Any ideas on how we're going to get it to come out? I'd imagine we're already letting out enough energy for it to sense us from the other side of the woods, but maybe we should just keep walking an-- and I swear to God, if I walk into another web--!!" he growled to himself, jumping out of the way of a large web that he'd only seen because its resident spider was sitting right in the middle. "Being tall sucks..."

"I've always been good youma bait."

Camelot shrugged his shoulders. He grinned at that, as it had always been true. Before he powered up, he always felt there was something in him that youma felt was absolutely delicious. He wondered if that was still true, or if it ever had been.

It might have just been the fact that he was a human. And always in the wrong place at the wrong time.

It didn't matter.

"I could try to lure it out, once we get to where the attacks have been reported. If there's no one around, of course. I'm hoping there aren't big foot enthusiasts or something, trying to find their missing link."

"Oh yeah, sure," Valhalla mumbled as a kind of off-handed comment. "Go ahead and lure it out. I'll just stand here and wait."

He shot Camelot a very pointed look, as if asking what the heck he thought he was doing. What was the point of bringing him along if he was just going to do everything himself?

"I can help too, you know. I'm not exactly a damsel in distress," he said with a roll of his eyes, picking off the spider web that had stuck to the fur of his uniform. The most important thing to do was to figure out if there was a youma or not. He couldn't sense anything just yet, but he was sure if there was something with chaotic energy wandering through the woods, he was sure they would both be able to pick up on its energy source before long.

For now, they just had to keep trekking through the forest to the reported locations. There were times that Valhalla thought he could feel something, but it quickly disappeared before he got a good grasp on what it could be. Depending on whether it was a human or youma, their game plan would be completely changed. Naturally, he was hoping it was just a youma.

Camelot looked chagrined, looking down at his feet and then bumping into Valhalla because he had also been trying to walk and that threw off his balance. He looked at the other knight again, his expression guilty.

"I'm sorry. I just don't like offering others, especially people I care about, to danger. I know you're capable, you're right. I wouldn't have asked you to come if I didn't think that."

He shook his head, trying to recover from that slip up.

There were some things he couldn't help. He thought he had drawn the line pretty well between Tony and Camelot, though both were one and the same and he understood that well. But Tony's penchant to over worry about people, and want to coddle them and keep them safe, never failed to slip into his Knight self. Or maybe it was Camelot's habit, slipping into Tony's demeanor.

He knew it was stupid to think of it that way though. He was one person, powered up or not. Trying to split it was always going to be futile.

"Alright, we'll come up with a better plan." As he said that, though, there came a dangerous, and loud, growl from nearby.
