Arrats had woken up with the sun shining in her face. The cub was on her back, legs in the air, with a sunbeam slanting down through the trees right into her eyes. She gave a disgruntled groan at being woken up thus. Flopping over to her side, Arrats gave a long stretch. It was so tempting to just close her eyes and doze off again......
The cub shook her head and pushed herself to her feet. Her mouth was so dry. She needed to get a drink. Arrats gave a huge yawn and padded down toward a small stream. Her eyes watched a bright yellow butterfly flutter about. It was pretty. Soon she heard the trickle of water and went down to the edge. She laid her belly against the damp ground and drank deeply.

Thinking with his brain waking up he looked at his brother then looked at the spot where Arrats was supposed to be. Staring at it long enough he just...Stared at it. Then the soft breeze that shook the trees above his head to slitter the sun light over him that he realized that his sister was gone. Pressing his nose down to the ground he started walking to follow her scent. Maybe something happened to her?! It looked like the Lone Wolf Ranger was going to have to save his damsal in distress!
If she was in distress. Basilio walked until he looked up to see her drinking some water and breathed a sigh of relief. Then again maybe he should jump his sister to not scare him like that! Yeah!

Arrats finished her drink and ran her tongue over her lips. That was much better. She rose easily from her crouch, hardly making a noise. The cub weighed her options for the day. She would need to by perforce to ask her parents for food, but she didn't want to go to them right at the moment. Some mood was upon her.
Decisively she turned to head downstream. She would go exploring awhile. Go explore the deep, dark, and damp places where things died. A smile crossed her lips, if she was lucky she might find something interesting. Arrats pranced down the bank trying to be as quiet as possible. She didn't know why she tried to be stealthy all the time; it just seemed right.

Basilio's ears twitched cutely at the sight of his sister walking off. Tilting his head to the side cutely he started to follow her and began to question on where she was going. Of course for someone so young he didn't want to intrude in his sister's life but he didn't want his sister to be alone neither. That would just make him look horrible as a super hero.
Yet he didn't want to go unnoticed for long either. However there was something going on with his sister. From what he observed he noticed that she was always....Well...Arrats. Curiously he kept silent to see what she was going to do.

The pup followed her nose. At first she smelt the water from the stream where she'd just drunk. Then the water faded and left the scent of dank, and moss; of growing things and cool, dark places. Arrats honed in on the danker places. Poking her nose into holes and hide-y places under trees. Lots of things liked these places too. Once she frightened a frog out from between a tree's roots.
She ducked her head down to watch it hop away between her feet and laughed. The scent of something stronger caught her attention from the frog. Now this was interesting. Carefully she headed closer.

Basil wrinkled his at the dank scents and moss. He was still a little pup after all and not used strong smells near the river. Blinking he tilted his head to the side on what his sister was doing. Not being able to stay quiet for long he ran up behind her and swatted at her tail. "Hey Arrats! What are you doing?" His young, nasal sounding voice pipped up, wiggling his tail a bit.

Arrats let out an undignified squeak as her rump was suddenly attacked. She spun around bristling as she recognized her brother's voice and scent. "Oh Basil. It's you." She huffed and let her fur lie flat. Her silly brother poking his nose in again. "I'm not doing anything," she answered his question. "What are you doing following me?"

Basil grinned at his sister and licked her face happily. "I have to protect my only sister Arrats, you know that." The little male puffed his tiny chest out to look fierce but it only served to make him look cute. "Besides it doesn't look like your not doing anything. Your following something because we are far from mama, papa and Kagen.....Can I join you?" Such a cute pup to ask to accompany his sister.

Arrats huffed tolerantly at her brother. "I don't need protection, you know that." She mimiced him without malic. "So what if I am doing something? You ain't gonna like it," she warned then shrugged. "Alright."
She started out again. Wondering if Basil was really going to keep up with her.

Basilio looked cutely at his sister and happily walked beside her. "That's alright Arrats...I just want to make sure you get home before mama get's mad that your far away from them. You know how worried she gets. I don't want nothing happening to you too." He said with that boyish cuteness that was irrresistable to adults. "What am I not going to like Arrats? Are you going to do something weird?" Basil was simply curious and wanting to understand what adventure his sister was on.

The female nearly sighed at the cuteness her brother was giving off. Did he really have to do that around her? He should save if for their parents. She looked back at him. "I can find my way home. 'Sides, mama won't get mad. I'm her darling little girl." Arrats turned with determination to sniff the air. Was that a hint of decay she caught?
"Weird little brother? Why yes, yes I am. I am looking for something dead. Preferably long dead." She leered at him playfully.

Basilio blinked and tilted his head to the side. "Yeah but....Your my sister and I don't want nothing happening to you." The pup reasoned and lowered his ears a bit at the playful leer. Arrats! You can't look for stuff like that! That's gross!"

Arrats gave her brother a look down her long nose. "You think that because I'm a girl hu? Well I'll show you! A girl can do anything a boy can." She huffed and stalked forward. Her silly brother thinking he needed to protect her.
She looked back at her brother and waved her tail in his face. "Why not? I like that kinda stuff. If it bothers you then don't come along." Arrats arched her brow challengingly at him.

Lowering his ears, the young male pup frowned slightly at his sister. "It's not that I don't think you can do the same things as boys can but....What if you get stuck somewhere?!" He whined then lowered his head, pouting cutely. "You're being mean to me! I'm going to tell mommy on you!" Basilio said and went to jump on Arrats playfully.
