A loud sniffle.

And then another equally loud one. Julie had thought perhaps people had just forgotten that it was Valentines Day and that certain Moon Hunter assistants required certain artifacts and tokens of love on certain holidays to make their life that much brighter and better. Said Moon Hunter assistant might have also spent an entire day preparing candied hearts, sugared confections, and even one large red velvet cake in her open room, just waiting for someone to arrive on exactly one Febuary the 14th.

Ten hours later, her room was still empty. Two days later, the cake started to smell just a little strange. Ten days later, Julie had decided that she was so very much alone.

Sigh.

This was exactly what happened when she waited. There would be no waiting here, she swore on Mr. Wiggles! No Sir-ee, this Moon Hunter was taking affirmative action.

Bix never knew what hit him, or rather, his cell phone.
PostPosted: Wed Feb 29, 2012 5:58 am

Bix knew better than to leave Julie waiting. If anything he worried what concoction she'd produce next, what food product she'd distribute. The albino hunter had actually thought of her on Valentine's Day but had been too worried about looking like a weirdo or a suck up and hadn't dropped by to visit her. Something about Christmas lingered in his mind, a fondness that perhaps was unfounded. He didn't know that this visit was valentine related.. but he still had a bag of hershey hearts and several issues of comic books that he'd not given out to people. She loved candy... so a peace offering would be necessary.

He'd barely closed his door when his phone continued to blow up. An emergency? Well he'd better run.

The albino hunter arrived at her door, panting and knocking hurriedly. "Julie? Everything okay?"

Those few words seemed to elicit some sort of trigger reaction from the Moon Hunter as she literally flung herself at Bix, all but sobbing hysterically. "No, its horrible, I was waiting there, with the chocolates and the cake and oh!"

- Julie pulled out a handkerchief from her apron and blew on it rather loudly before returning back to her trademark smile. -"I forgot, did you want a cookie first? You should eat up before our adventure, look how thin you've gotten!"

"Oh no!?" Bix patted her awkwardly. Did he do something wrong? Did she invite other people who didn't come? When did she do all this exactly? "Look I brought you chocolate! And ummm.. an X-men comic book!"

When she pulled away to blow her nose her held them out for her. It was then she mentioned cookies.

Cookies.

Bix's brain did several things. Everything sensible in him screamed no, and every other part of him said that Julie's cooking usually resulted in something INSANE. Plus the last cookies he'd had invoked some pretty interesting scenarios.

"Sure. I'll have a cookie." OMG WHAT. He'd only have a nibble right? He was only slowly absorbing that she mentioned an 'adventure'.

"Oh Tony," Julie leaned over on her tiptoes to give Bix a small pat on his head, "You were always my favourite." Note the past tense.

The Moon Hunter did seem relatively much more cheerful, only giving the occasional sniffle as she procured Bix's offering, propping up the comic box next to a collection of Christmas cards, and the box of chocolates next to the giant melting and a little pungent Red Velvet tiered cake right in the center of the room, where a certain Sun Trainee might have distinctly remembered a Christmas tree being a few months ago.

Julie straightened up finally, a glint in her eye. "Now, I called you here because we have a mission. A very important mission." She did not elaborate at all, but instead, pulled one of Bix's hands close, wrapping it in both her hands, giving him a Serious Look of Seriousness. "Everything we are doing in this mission is top secret, do you understand?"

A pause. "And oh, you can have some cookies after!"

Bix was slowly absorbing the state of Julie's room while she spoke about their top secret mission. His OCD usually didn't extend further than his own belongings, but he was becoming concerned about the state of the place.

"Okay.. sounds good. Hey should we put that cake away?" By away he meant trash. "I can do it for you. Before we leave maybe?" He started to move forward towards the cake when she clasped his hand. Bix was questioning his defense of Julie in conversations, just for a moment. What if that cake started sprouting deadly mold? What if she took the mold and made a potion or a baked good out of it?!

"No no no, absolutely not!" Julie was practically dragging Bix out of the room, giving the trainee a rather forceful tug before she closed the door - with a snap - behind her. "There are important missions to do, important top secret secret missions that require plenty of helpers."

A couple of Hunters, who were casually idling or ambling along the hallway, most likely having just returned from a long mission themselves, froze up at the sound of the Moon Hunter's voice or more importantly, the Moon Hunter as she talked about her important top secret missions paired with the word 'volunteers'. Two seconds flat the entire hallway was empty, each door sealed securely shut.

Fortunately for them, Julie missed this entirely as she dragged Bix happily down the hallway, explaining to him the entire time her rendition of what was going on. "Do you know what happens in March, Tony?" She didn't wait for an answer. "March is when nothing happens. Absolutely nothing! No Joy, no Valentines day, no Easter Bunny, nothing, so, this super secret mission is of two important things." Apparently, the Moon Hunter could move relatively fast as they were already in the courtyards and closing in on the lighthouse. She wasn't even winded for crying out loud as she continued to talk on. "So, I think it is important that we, you and and I, Tony, embark on this wonderful quest together to create a new holiday just for March. I do think- I do think I will call it-"

- There was a dramatic pause, as she stopped right in front of the lighthouse portal, pushing some random buttons. In fact, what was rather alarming was how the lighthouse seemed to be mysteriously void of a sentry guard. The portal shifted hues for just a second, spilling a brilliant white light behind Julie just as she remarked dramatically, "Cookies day."

Once again, Bix did not have time to comment before he literally shoved him through.

After the initial shock of well extremely eye-blinding white light, Bix would notice that they were actually in what looked like the center of an extremely busy mall. A skylight decorated the 'roof' of the mall, though the hundreds, possibly thousands of shoppers littering the place made them simply a mere, almost invisible speck. A few choice shops were centered around where they stood, namely Target, Winners & Homesense, Godiva Chocolatier, and Victoria's Secret.

One really had to wonder what on earth this had to do with cookie day.

The Moon Hunter looked extremely determined as she re-did the ponytail in her hair, readjusted her apron, and rolled up the sleeves of her coat, staring at Bix in all her five-foot-one glory. "Are you ready, Tony? "

Bix finally, slowly, was realizing the truth. Deus was really the home of the X-Men. Lance was Prof. X.. cause obviously he was in a chair. Marcus and Cass were Rogue & Gambit, complete with a white streak of hair between the two of them. Bix wasn't sure who he was, or what his power was (the fun was in the discovery)... but Julie's power was to drive her peers into hiding. They seemed to disappear before they were even consciously aware she was coming!

He played the part of puppet pretty well. He'd had years of bossy girlfriends for adequate practice. There was a fine art to going completely limp, silent and being dragged around and yelled at. He should have a goddamn trophy for his well honed skills.

The idea of a made up holiday was not one he could argue with though. The Sun hunter was always looking for excuses for social gatherings or gift giving. Deus was a grim place usually and he could definitely see where Julie needed more joy. Of course her need for it bordered on mental illness, but who of the group of them could really claim to be sane?

"I'm ready." He finally smiled up into the brightly lit mall. "I'm assuming we need cookies. Are we buying them or..." She, of course, would want to make them.

"Lead the way, oh fearless leader." He peered down on his petite superior. "We're getting decorations and stuff too.. right?" Confetti. Glitter. Shredded paper. ANYTHING HE COULD THROW ON PEOPLE.

Julie took all of two steps at Bix's confirmation that yes, his body was ready, when she suddenly stopped, turning around very slowly and dramatically.

"Buying cookies?" Obviously, greater words of blasphemy could not have been said. She might even have visibly shuddered, losing some of that smile before it was back on her face again, with twice the effort. "Oh no Tony, we are making cookies. But this isn't about cookies this is about-" A happy sigh- "Making magic. We are going to make magic together."

With that, she dragged him right into Victoria's Secret -

- And thankfully out the other door exit, apparently taking some sort of shortcut. They did not stop moving, thankfully again, until they arrived at Winners - Homsense, where it took Julie all of five seconds to immediately locate the kitchen supplies. "Hm-hmm...." She began to hand Bix several rolling pins, five cutting boards, a crock pot, a Do It Yourself blender, and a towel rack before she finally stopped, scrutinizing a tiny napkin folder display set. "Pink, or green?" She kind of wanted both.

When Julie pulled him into Victoria's Secret his mind began to race and face began to flush and then... they were already out the other door. "Thank god.." he whispered to himself more than her.

"Awesome. I like magic but, to be honest, I'm not a very good cook. Before is better at baking. I help him sometimes.." He was talking but he wasn't sure if she was ever listening. Hanging with Julie was like being tied to the side of a runaway train. You weren't going to get off and it was a bit like a hostage situation.

"Green. Do we need this many rolling pins? Isn't it just you and I?" Things began to pile up in his arms. She hadn't paused long enough for him to grab a basket or a cart. She wasn't wasn't grabbing anything in a particular order so he was haphazardly being stacked with items of various size and weight. "OOF!" She dropped a crockpot on top of the pile.

"What do we need a crockpot for at a cookie party?!" Bix was getting a bit distressed, which meant he was whining. "C'mon Julie.. we are friends right?" Were they? "You can fill me in. Please?!"

Just a little.

Julie, having finally picked out the yellow tiny napkin folder display set, twirled around immediately to where Bix was standing, well, balancing. "Secret mission," she hissed, suddenly looking around, paranoid. There were cameras, cameras everywhere. And people, and possibly spies that wanted to steal her recipe and techniques. "We do not speak of the secret mission word while on the secret mission, okay Tony?"

The last sentence sounded almost threatening, as if Bix was indeed in the middle of a hostage situation. The Moon Hunter deftly maneuvered around the Sun trainee, and began to nudge him slowly from the back towards the cashier. "Silly Tony, we are more than friends, we are destined lovers, isn't that right?" Several shoppers were staring at the 'couple', some of them nearly dropping their own merchandise from disbelief, and possibly shock. "And destined lovers don't need to talk to each other, they can understand each other through the bond of love."

The may or may not have been a sort of romantic sigh from the general area behind Bix, see: Julie. It seemed almost all the people in line had cleared a sort of wide berth around the two, and it only took a few moments longer for them to find a cashier. Nonplussed, the cashier lady began to check out each item, meticulously one by one. The sum total came to something like 1023.33. Cashier lady looked up at Bix. "Cash, or credit card?"

Any questioning doubts he'd had about the nature of his 'friendship' with Julie, especially after Christmas, had just been terrifyingly answered. Apparently she still thought they were soul mates. The trainee turned pink as all the women (why was it all women? gonk ) shot the two of them looks.

More flashbacks of exgirlfriends came back as Julie piled him with purchases, told him what was what and now apparently expected him to pay.

"Uhh.." His finances flashed through his mind. Did he have enough in the account? He'd bought a bunch of gifts on Christmas but that was a few months ago. He'd also bought some comics around Valentines. Somehow the balancing of his finances became a mess of mushed up numbers in his head. "Credit please." He passed along his card and prayed it wasn't declined.

"Maybe we uh.." He wanted to tell Julie to put some stuff back on the shelf but once again he was back to being the dumb sucker who's dragged along by a domineering woman. "Uhh.. nevermind. Sorry I keep bringing up the secret mission." Keep the crazy girl happy, right?

He turned to the cashier. "Here, add this on." It was a pen from the counter with a rainbow colored owl on the top. When you pressed a button it lit up and hooted. That would keep Julie happy right? It was only like 2 dollars more anyway.

In response to the rainbow owl pen, Julie clapped and squealed and pretty much made the cashier look at her with an expression that said 'Lady, are you, like, five?'

There was a loud buzz a few seconds later as she swiped the card. She sighed, trying again. A buzz. "I'm sorry sir, but your card has been declined, it says, not enough funds." She then printed off the receipt, taking a second to raise an eyebrow as she looked at it before giving the card balance to Bix.

"That's okay!" Julie interrupted, "We'll just take this one here." She had already put the owl pen in her hair, which was currently making a nice nest along with her rainbow hair clips and general state of unkept locks.

With another long, suffering, sigh, the cashier rang in the item, swiped the card one more time - which was accepted - and then passed the receipt for Bix to sign. A certain Moon Hunter could be heard squealing the entire time until they left the vicinity.

"Destination one, success!" Yes, Julie was still clinging to and dragging Bix as hard as she could as they made two rights, and then an ascent up to an escalator. "Oooh this is so exciting Tony, where to next?"

It might have occurred to the trainee by now that this had nothing to do with a mission or supplies of any kind.

It was probably the only time in his life he was relieved to have his card declined. He'd be broke if he'd managed to afford all the crap that Julie had piled on top of him. Her swift dismissal of all of it was pretty suspicious though. They hadn't gotten anything for the 'mission' or 'party' or whatever she was planning.

"I though you had things you needed to get? For the secret mission" He whispered the words while looking down on the petite Moon hunter as they went up the escalator. She was clinging to him pretty tight and he wasn't keeping track so as his toes hit the end of the escalator he almost took both of them down. Thankfully it was nothing worse than a stumble.

"Sorry.. sorry.. Uh.. Comic store?" Hey if she was letting him pick... "I'll get you something cute?" If thats what it took. "Then maybe the food court?"

Was he on a date right now?

"Yes, Tony." Bix may have suddenly noticed that his arm was being squeezed very, very, very tightly, "We still need to find many, many more important things for the secret mission. It is very secret, you see."

Yes, she had said that, only a few hundred times.

Post the little mishap on the elevator, Julie took it as a sign that there were many dangers abound and clung to Bix just a little tighter. The Sun trainee may or may not have suddenly realized that breathing seemed a little harder than usual - how odd! It definitely wasn't Julie's arms wrapped tightly around his arm and chest as if Bix was nothing more than an oversized stuffed toy, nope.

She squealed a little too loud at the prospect of 'gift', letting the trainee guide her all the way along, which pretty much meant she she was pulling him in her choke-hold all the way from point A to B. A few people in the comic book store gave them weird looks.
