Bedeinka curled beside Warray. They had been traveling together for many night now. The more she spent with him the more she felt she was falling for him. Something she had never felt before. It was an odd sensation. She was actually imagining herself with him for more than their time aloud. More than anything she wanted to take him back to Mazu and have him meet the other lions in the pride. She would have a chance to show off her found prince.
She knew he was the right one. He would help her make sure their offspring got the thrown. He would help drive out any intruders from the pride, like those pesky leopards that seemed to be everywhere. They would have the perfect family. She could just imagine all her beautiful boy cubs all prince like in the pride. Playing with perhaps Nahasi's sons, showing them the proper way to behave.
She glanced at Warray. He was fast asleep. She gave him a soft nudge to wake him up. She wanted him to tell her a story, a story about his days as prince. Those were stories that fascinated her. They were perfect stories to tell their sons as well. He didn't wake up. She nudged him again with her head. This time he stirred. He said something in his sleep, something she could barely make out.
“I don't want to go with you.” he said again quietly.
She stared at him wided eyes. What kind of dream was he having? Did he know about her plans to ask him to go with her to Mazu? She wanted it to be a surprise, if he realized it it would only ruin things. “Why don't you want to go?” she asked the sleeping lion in a highly doubtful voice. What if he didn't want to go to Mazu. This was the first time she had ever opened her heart to someone. What if he didn't accept her?
“I want to stay here with you.” He said curling his head closer to her. “I want to stay her and have a family. A huge family. Just you, me and all the cubs.” He said with a grin. She sighed. He was obviously sleep talking. He had no idea what he was saying. It comforted her though. He was obviously dreaming about her.
“I want to have a family with you too.” She purred in his ear quietly. “I want to take you to my pride and show you off. All the other brotherhood mother's will be jealous of the male I was able to catch.”
She noticed him stir and she fell silent again. She would just wait for him to awake before asking for another story.
Warray always had dreams, from the time he was little to when he became an adult. They weren't important dreams. In fact they usually never made sense. This dream however he knew was important. It was about Bedeinka. He knew that she had feelings toward him. He returned those feelings back. However he could never tell if they were true or not. A part of him often wondered if she only liked him because he was a 'prince'. A fake prince, he reminded himself in his dream.
Lately she seemed to only want to hear about his days as prince. He hoped she would grow out of it, but she would jokingly say things like 'oh wait till our cubs hear this story'. It made him happy that she said 'our cubs' though. He just didn't want himself to look like a liar in front of his cubs. If they ever found out his whole stories were lies he couldn't bare to even look at himself.
He was even more afraid what Bed might think of him if he told her they were just stories. Would she love him anymore? Or just flat out hate him. He shuttered at the thought.
In his dream he was next to Bed, at the place they first met. He had brought her there to tell her the truth. He had a hard time confessing, but eventually the words came out. “I am a liar, but I love you.” It wasn't exactly how he wanted to say it. But he said it none the less.
Her expressions though nearly killed him. It was a mix between disappointment and hatred. It sent a shiver down his spine. Her nose flared as she looked down at him. Her body seemed to grow bigger and bigger, till he felt like he was a cub looking up at his mother.
“Warray you lied to me? Was everything a lie?” She said in a demonic tone. “I am pregnant Warray and you are the father! What am I supposed to tell the cubs? That their father is a no good liar?” Her bicolored eyes looked down at him, waiting for a response.
“I am sorry Bed. Please don't be mad at me.” He cried out, his voice sounding oh so weak. “I promice I will be a good father. I will raise them with you. I don't want to go anywhere. I want to stay here.”
“You are probably lying again to me. You don't know how to tell the truth anymore I bet.”
“No please Bed. I want to be with you here. I want to stay here with you.” With ever word he spoke she grew smaller. “I want to stay her and have a family. A huge family. Just you, me and all the cubs.” With that she gave a smile. He grinned back. “Bed I love you more than anyone else in this world and I want to be with you forever.”
He opened his eyes to see Bed curled up next to him, looking up at him. “Have a good dream?” she asked with a grin. He smiled back and nodded. “What was it about.”
“I was in a war, saving beautiful lioness, and saving the weak and defenseless.” He said bravely. She beamed at him. “Did you sleep well Bedeinka?”
She nodded her head. “No dreams though, not that I remember.” She said. “I was wondering Warray, would you be willing to come with me to my pride? I want you to meet my family. It would be very important to me.”
Warray nodded his head. “If it is important to you, than it is important to me as well.”
Bedeinka smiled at her perfect prince. “I can't wait.”
He smiled a little weakly. He would have to tell her the truth at some point, he knew he would. But for now he would keep it his little secret. It would be important to keep their relationship together.
