After sending his message and receiving the reply, Otto was gone from his dorm room.
Swim trunks? Check. Sunblock? On. It was go time!

<>

Going swimming.

<>

That's impossible!

His mental squabbles with Tenya aside, Otto was soon in front of the dorms, waiting impatiently for the mystery trainee who wanted to swim.

Sydney had rushed as fast as she could to get out of her clothes, put her bikini on, get into her clothes again and race to the front of the dorms. The pale girl looked a bit flushed, but she had an entire bag of swimming supplies with her, towel, sunscreen with bug spray in it, a hat, a boogey board, and several bottles of water--all of which she had gotten together before realizing... she had no clue if there was a safe place to swim on the island.

So she'd texted, and gotten a very demanding reply.

Izy asked, sounding very dissatisfied with the situation.

"Sorry it took so long," Syd said to the blonde teenager, a slight smile on her face. "I had to get my swimsuit on." Izy was blatantly ignored.

"Yo." Otto greeted in return, his bored looking expression ever present. "Yeah, whatever. Figured it was a chic thing." He replied in regards to 'taking so long'. Upon close inspection it seemed she had a huge bag of things with her. Yup, chic thing. All Otto needed was on his person.
The teen pushed himself off the wall and began to walk.

"I heard from an older hunter that theres 'sposed to be a pool.." Otto informed, not even questioning why a military facility such as this one would have a pool.

"Did he tell you where it was?" she asked, following him easily. "I would think, though, since we're on an island there should be some sort of cove that's safe to swim in, too, right?" Her mind was rushing, thinking of all the horror stories she had heard about ocean swimming. "Perhaps we could find a place that doesn't have any currents or undertow or... you know, those things that suck you under and drag you--"

She paused. "Let's find the pool," she concluded. "Is there a map of the facility somewhere?"

Izy commented.

What does one have to do with the other? she asked him.

"Yeah, somewhere near here. This way and..." He mumbled, turning corners that almost seemed random. One could only hope he new where he was going.

Syd's ramblings were paid some attention to by Otto, looking at her with a brow raised incredulously. "Yeah.." But now Otto kind of wanted to brave the ocean, for when he stepped foot in the next area...

"This pool is s**t.."

She looked at the crappy cement pool, her face falling subtly. "It looks... passable? Maybe it isn't as bad as it appears?" she offered, moving closer and crouching down next to it. It... no, it really wasn't appealing at all. And the water smelled funny, to boot.

But she wanted to swim! She was starting to regain memories of her past life, and the one thing she couldn't remember doing was swimming! But-- "We're on an ISLAND," she muttered. "We should be able to swim!"

Otto insisted, nudging the ghoul to follow him as he made his way back outside. "I been swimming in an ocean before. Why would this be any different?"

Still, it would take some time to walk to the shoreline. He'd have to.. ugh.. be conversational.

Lame.

She nodded. It seemed a shame to be stuck in a gigantic hole when there was an entire ocean all around them! She stood, reaching up and touching her gold choker as she followed him eagerly. He seemed the type to know what he was doing, right? He could figure out if the water was safe or not!

She hoped.

Swimming is an excellent way to improve your body, and considering we'll be fighting monsters, I need to exercise regularly! And that was all she was going to say on that.

"Would it be rude to ask," she started out hesitantly as she walked with Otto, "what your weapon is?"

Otto smirked lightly at the question.

<> Tenya was bubbling about in his mind, just itching to be bragged about.

"Nah, ain't rude." Otto said after a moment, flicking his wrist as he walked. The bangle that hung there dissipated and turned into a gigantic six foot tall boomerang. Otto held onto the handle of his and turned to face Syd, walking backwards.

"This here is Tenya. She's kinda heavy, but she's cool."

<>

Otto smirked again and de summoned his weapon back into a bangle. "We should spar sometime. What's yer weapon like?"

Her eyes lit up. They seriously did. "Oh, she's beautiful!" she said, rapidly becoming a weapon aficionado. "Was she difficult to learn to use? Izy--Izadore is his full name, is a crossbow," she went on, touching her golden choker and letting it form into her crossbow in her hands. "It's not something I remember using before this, but it's a very easy concept to grasp."

Izy complained.

I'm just saying that although I hadn't used one before, I have heard and seen them before. I've never seen someone fight with a gigantic boomerang.

<> Tenya piped up. Otto could almost sense her cocky swagger in his mind.

"Yeah, at first. I had to get used to the weight." A huff from Tenya came into his mind at another weight comment. "But she's fun to use." He loved that his weapon was both a powerful hitter, and also a great shield.

A crossbow? Otto looked on as she summoned it. "So what.. it got magical arrows?" He asked with a raised brow, turning so he could walk normally again.
PostPosted: Mon Feb 27, 2012 2:50 pm

"As far as I can tell," she admitted, looking at the arrow. "One just appears as soon as I've fired the first one." She had asked Izy about that, but he hadn't explained it except for a vague one liner. "I haven't had much practice with it, although I'm planning to! It's just since I'm a Mist I need to learn... well, everything," she admitted.

Her eyes fell to the symbol on her coat. "You're... Death division?" she asked. "They specialize in gathering information, right?"

"Right." Otto nodded, smirking to himself yet again. "And I'm pretty damn good at it. I found the pool, didn't I?" He frowned then, scratching his neck. "Not that it did us much good. Maybe I shoulda interrogated those other hunters some more. Maybe woulda found out what a dump that pool was."
The young man shrugged and continued onward.

"Mist.. aint that the leftover scraps division?" Ah, Otto at his finest. Poor Syd had not yet seen what Otto truly was.
PostPosted: Mon Feb 27, 2012 3:03 pm

"Leftover... scraps," she repeated, her voice turning cold. "Is that how we're seen, then? Being capable of filling in for any and all the other divisions makes us leftovers?" She thought about it. Her previous eagerness seemed to disappear as she walked along, and she almost seemed like a different person.

"Interesting," she said finally.

Izy asked, sounding a bit worried.

"Pfft. C'mon chicy, don't get all butt-hurt on me now. Call it whatever ya want. Jack of all trades, n s**t." Otto said with some snark. "You'll lighten up again once we get some swimming done." He obviously didn't seem to care he'd hurt her pride.

The distance between them and the shore got shorter, and soon the ocean could be heard before it was seen. "Wonder how cold the water is.."
