"I suspect we'll have rain again, soon," Garren stated, standing outside the castle as his minions were repairing the courtyard. Far in the distance was a large, black cloud. A frown was prevalent on his expression.
"You seem distraught about the concept of it raining... why is that so bad?" Adelle asked, walking up beside him. The lich sighed.
"It hasn't rained in over three millenia," he answered. "In fact I don't even think my ancestors knew of it..."
There was a distant look on his face, one mixed in with confusion and bemusement. Adelle frowned and only watched as the clouds slowly moved their way in.
"Why hasn't...?" she started.
"Adelle," Garren interrupted. "Go inside and prepare the meeting chamber. It appears our guest has arrived."
The demon blinked and saw that Kael was making his way through the ruined courtyard in their direction. A faun was following closely. She would have done what she normally did with newcomers, but instead followed Garren's instructions. In the back of her mind, she only wished that the lich was planning some sort of coup against them for when he takes Tylarus back. She rushed inside.

No outward emotion, a blank slate against a darkening sky; that was The Fae King's demeanor. A refreshing change from the past day or so Dimitri noted as they made their way across the bleak courtyard. Garren's people if one could call them that only gave blank stares as they passed, neither hindering nor helping, as neutral as only the dead can be. The doors opened for them and Kael didn't bother to glance up; heading inside without a moments hesitation.

The lich gave an apathetic smile as the kelpie passed by and headed inside. He walked up alongside him and directed him to where the meeting was going to take place.
"Kael," he greeted. "I am pleased to see you could arrive." He didn't bother with any formalities, as he didn't quite care for them in the first place. He had the guards open the doors into the chamber; inside was a large, round table with several chairs circling it. Torches were scattered along the walls, and hanging from the ceiling was a brightly lit chandelier. Adelle was standing behind the largest and most ornate of seats, where Garren headed to. He motioned for Kael to sit across from him.

Dimitri pulled the chair out for his lord while checking it quickly for traps, one of the reasons he was along for this meeting in the first place.
"I do believe I mentioned it earlier so it would be arrogant of me to not attend. I assume you are going to first grace us with an explanation as to what happened the other evening? I'm quite interested to hear any news you have on the subject before we get to the point of all of this." Kael stated casually while taking his seat, his only guard standing behind him and to the side.

Adelle scowled at Kael's attitude towards her lord, but Garren merely smirked. He sat back comfortably.
"As you wish," he said. "The event that occurred on the night of the masquerade was not of my own doing. Nor do I possess the information necessary to understand what had happened; which of course is unprecedented, given what I am and my age. This is half the reason why I have called you here to discuss our alliance. Otherwise I would have kept it at face value for the rest of the people here, as I assumed you wished it to be." He stopped to see if Kael had anything to say.

"How disquieting, well I suppose we can't know everything that goes on in our cities. Given the new cirrcumstances are there particular terms you wish to discuss on the matter of this unknown assailant? It was very bold of her to attack so openly in your courtyard." Kael stated plainly as Dimitri tried to keep himself from wincing; having the fear Kael had slipped on his own words.

This, however, did not ease by the lich's ears unnoticed. He narrowed his eyes.
"Her?" he asked, ignoring the rest of what he said for now.

"Indeed, you sound surprised; am I correct in assuming you were unaware of your assailant's gender?" Kael answered, having done exactly what he wanted to.

Garren frowned.
"This is not a game, Kael," he stated dryly. "If you have any information on who attacked my city, you need to tell me so we may combat it and get this ordeal out of the way."

"Everything is a game Garren, perhaps if you would have realised that before now we wouldn't have this problem but I digress. I agree to help you deal with this threat and you can tell me what you know of the rogues, I have reasons to believe the two are connected." The kelpie offered neutrally, haven already seen what he needed to in the liche's response.

"The rogues?" Garren asked before leaning forward on his hand and smirking. Adelle blinked a few times, keeping an eye on the faun behind Kael should he try anything. "Zephryne is dead; if the rogues are attempting anything, they are doing it leaderless, and thus they pose barely any threat at all. Now, how are they connected?"

So it was as he suspected, how arrogant the fool was; Kael thought with a blank expression as he wondered how best to use this confirmed insight. "Our resources have reason to believe the attacker at the masquerade was either a Mage or a demon. One capable of wearing the faces of others and mentally interfering with people. Seeing as they attacked your strong hold directly we can assume it wasn't your doing or that of your people." Kael didn't verbally need to point out it may have been a traitor on the liche's side, if the tyrant was foolish enough to not have thought of that already he deserved to find a dagger in his back. "Given that I came under the impression of making a treaty with you my people can be ruled out as well. You see Fae loyalty is near impossible to break, how ever it isn't a surprised the rogue's would be directly threatened by our alliance. Two on one isn't much of a fair fight now is it? Thus it is possible to conclude that the rogues have found not only a new leader but also a new weapon." It wasn't the entirety of the truth, but enough of it take make it not a lie.

Garren listened intently before leaning back into his chair. He pondered for a long while in silence, only focused on digesting Kael's words. The lich was well aware of a fae's inability to lie, so he took everything as the truth. A sigh escaped and he turned to whisper something inaudible to Adelle, to which she gave a slight nod before looking back to Kael and Dimitri. Garren turned back as well.
"I disagree with the notion that the rogues are involved with this attack," he said. "If they were the instigator, then they would simply be weeded out by what they set in motion. They are weak, if not already obliterated. I will not focus my forces against them; however, if you feel it is necessary, by all means do so. Now, my question to you is how you were able to uncover this much information. If anything, I can bolster whatever you are using with my own armies to quicken the time."

"Oh I do believe our ears are burning, to think one could be so close yet so utterly wrong, its pathetic, it always was." The girlish giggle chided as she propped her feet comfortably on the table and yawned into her hand.
Despite the words it was clear from the amused expression and wink towards the fae that she was at the very least flattered that they were trying so hard. The tyrant how ever wasn't nearly as interesting so she would let her attendant deal with him and his pet. The lithe form she had was tanned today, black hair falling to her waist and reflective eyes just to be unnerving; the whole image made her look frail and unfamiliar. The perfect ruse.
