Roch was whistling. Somehow, even after all the crap that'd gone down in his life lately, he was in a good mood. It might have something to do with the phone in his hand. His bike parts had shipped! How awesome was that? Sure he'd be working with his dad on it, but... well... y'know, Austin wasn't that bad when he was actually around.
He was so busy gleeing over his phone that he almost ran right into Edel. He pulled back, grinning at her as he realized who it was. "Yo!" he said, almost bouncing where he stood. "How's it goin?"

Waking up the day after was something the ghoul had been dreading. The events of the scarentines dance were something she'd rather not remember, but she did. It was going to be a little hard trying to explain why she had ended up with a torn skirt and scratches on her thigh, but she could assure you that nothing happened.
Really.
Armed with the knowledge that it was probably the punch, and that she wasn't the only victim, the ghoul set off on her day still feeling Quite Terrible. She almost didn't notice the punk reaper until she nearly ran into him, and his greeting triggered yet another awkward memory.
They were a perfect match, apparently.
A mild wave of panic washed over her stoic face and Edel was left staring at Roch for a good while.
...
Nah.
“Hey,” came a less energetic response, “Just taking a walk I guess?” The frost demon blinked at him. “You seem excited over something?”

"They shipped the parts!" he said happily, showing her an email on the screen of his phone. "Me and Dad are gonna put it together as soon as it gets here!" Clearly Roch had no clue that they were supposedly a "perfect match." But he did frown slightly as he looked at her closely.
"You okay?" he asked. "You look a lil... worried."

Edel tried her best to look excited for Roch with a tired smile, but that was as far as she got. “Sorry, I just .... ” she trailed off, only to cut back abruptly, “I'm fine actually, just a little bothered by some things, but it's alright.”
A pause.
“Do you reckon people were acting strangely on Scarentines?” Well, she wanted to make sure it wasn't ONLY just her.

"Jack, yes, and the week before that," he said, making a face. "Last week SUCKED," he told her, making a face. "A lot of stuff went down, but I didn't stick around for much of the party. Let's face it, it wasn't really my sort of party. Why? What happened after I left?"

OH GOOD. Edel mentally heaved a sigh of relief, grinning at all those faces he was making. “Well. Stuff..... Really strange stuff, the punch I think,” she gestured a little emptily, “Induced some rather strange behaviour.” The ghoul looked him in the eye and finally admitted, “Of which I may have been a victim of.” She sighed.
“So, what were you up to?”

<I can answer your questions.> An informative voice well, informed them, seemingly coming from nowhere. <It is because Fear is easily influenced and changed. I am sure you have already taken a variety of classes to exercise your Fear abilities and limits, have you not?>
If the students squinted really hard, they could see a small shadow peering from them from the corner, if they squinted a little harder, perhaps the shadow would even vaguely look like that of a minipet out of all things.

Roch jerked, turning to look at the... voice. His eyes narrowed and he moved forward as he caught sight of the shadow. "Um... what?" he said finally. "Are you a familiar?" he asked.
It made sense. He'd met one or two familiars, and they seemed really smart--so if there was an adult reaper with a familiar he wouldn't have been surprised if the familiar was smarter than he was, right? He glanced at Edel, wondering if she knew who'd just spoken to them.

A voice from beyond.
Edel turned around Very Slowly to squint at the shadow, feeling just a little Disturbed. Roch's glance was returned with one that was equally clueless, and the ghoul took to eyeing cautiously for a little longer.
In the end, she decided to be polite and answer the question. “I see ... Yes to some extent, would you care to tell us more?”

The pair of bright red eyes blinked twice, the shadow of a small head shifting to one side. <Tell you more about what exactly? The Horsemen- or perhaps information about the Hunters that your academy specifically seems to be wary of? >
It said the words just like that, as if it was conversing about the weather, or some trivial means, waiting for a response as if they were indeed, just talking about the weather (which in Halloween, usually stayed the same cheerful grey-black and thus made weather conversation talking in Halloween rather dull and lackluster).

"Both," Roch said. "But is this somethin' we should talk about out here? Should we go somewhere quieter?" He crouched down, as if luring a minipet, but kept his voice quiet. "You remind me of somethin'," he admitted, frowning slightly. "Those red eyes look familiar..."
As in he was pretty sure he'd run into this guy before...

What the creature had so nonchalantly spouted had certainly touched a chord in her. Thank Jack Roch was there to keep things calm. Strange how things worked huh?
“I quite agree with him, an empty classroom might do perhaps?” she suggested. An eyebrow was raised when Roch suggested that he had met the creature... or something familiar before. Just what exactly was it? she wondered.

<An empty classroom would imply that you are looking for somewhere to hide.> A pause - was that the barest glimmer of its eyes that seem a little more menacing than before? < But you two have nothing to hide, correct?>
It did not exactly move closer to Roch, but it did not move away either, simply flickering its tail back and forth patiently.

"I don't know," Roch admitted. "Hell, I've probably got a shitload of things to hide, especially this book about--well, stuff. But you're right. Tell us here." He sat down in the grass, crossing his legs and looking at the shadowy form expectantly.
"What are the hunters after? Why'd they pick this school for most of it? I heard there were kids missing after Christmastival, so it ain't ALL here, but we'da heard about it if they were always attacking schools, right?" Did this little guy even know?
Hell if Roch knew. But he offered information and Roch was willing to listen!

The creature's response had caught her by surprise, but likewise, the ghoul sat down on the grass in some sort of admittance that she had nothing much to hide. Since Roch had the hunters covered, the ghoul figured she should ask about the Horsemen, who for some reason, were coming into play as well.
“And,” she added, “Why are the Horsemen interested in this school too? Because the hunter invasions are rather prevalent here?” Edel stopped to think; there was an even better question to ask. “What do the Horsemen stand to gain through a treaty with Amity?” The deal had always struck her as a little too good to be true.
