You know, Hel kept forgetting that the reaper dorm’s had a garden. Sure, she dropped Lizzy in on Mac in them once, but aside from that, she didn’t really do anything else with them. Perhaps curious to see what they looked like now, the ghoul made her way down the steps of the dorm and out into the garden area. Huh! It was…rather lovely, actually.
The valkyrie started to make her way deeper into it, but paused as she caught sight of…Shun! Hel grinned, and started to come up to the grim reaper who was…sitting under a tree with his eyes closed? Why in Jack’s name was he doing that?
“OI!” Hel cried out to the grim. “Shun! What are you doing, friend!?”

With everything going on lately, Shun had a lot on his mind to say in the very least. He needed to take some moments to himself and just try and clear his thoughts about the whole damn thing. Outside was pretty quiet right now, so he decided to try and meditate for a little bit in the gardens. It was going alright, he supposed.
At least until he suddenly heard Hel shouting at him from somewhere nearby. Grimacing, he slowly opened his eyes to glare at the Valkyrie.
"What does it look like I'm doing?" he grumbled, not exactly appreciating the interruption.

Shun glaring and grumbling…that was more like it! Hel was still grinning as she approached the reaper, stopping nearby and resting her hands on her hips as she stared down at him. The ghoul hummed thoughtfully.
“Well…it looks like you are sitting under a tree with your eyes closed!” Duh. That was an easy one, Shun. “Why you are doing so is beyond me though. Surely there are better things to do then sit under trees? Unless you were napping.”

Shun twitched a bit with irritation at that conclusion.
"I was not napping. I was meditating," he murmured. Letting out a breath, he continued to glare at the Valkyrie for a few moments before adding, "Though seeing how overworked up you get over things I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't know what that is."
Yes, he was still a little annoyed. He hadn't been in the greatest mood prior to his little session anyway.

If Shun took the time to look up, way up, he would see what looked like a minipet staring straight down at him from the tree branches. While the minipet itself wasn't too threatening by far, it's form did seem rather familiar. In fact, it kind of, sort of, really looked like this:
And while minipets were in general, regarded as creatures of rather low(er) intellect, this one seemed to be watching the two's movements rather carefully, tail swishing back and forth.
Too bad it had no clue what privacy meant.

“Mediwhat?” Hel echoed, her brows furrowing for a moment.
They shot up then, and she laughed at Shun’s irritation. Such a good friend she was. “Wait…what? I do not get overworked up about things!” She protested. The ghoul rested her hands on her hips now as she stared down at the grim, unaware of their current creeper still. “So…what is the point of this…medita-shun?”

"Meditation," Shun repeated, "And. Yes. You do."
Staring at Hel, it seemed that he was right in her not knowing what it was. For the time being, he also didn't notice the little creeper hovering some distance above, watching them both.
"The purpose varies. Generally, it's used for reflection, to calm, to focus, or some combination of these," he said.
Stretching out a little, rotating his neck somewhat, he did catch a glimpse of some small white form above him, but he didn't think anything of it just yet. There were some minipets wandering around the garden now and then, after all. As long as they didn't try to attack his face or pester him, he usually didn't pay them much heed.

<Ah, meditation!> A voice agreed, seeming projecting, telepathically, from the vague area via the tree branches, via the minipet staring down at Shun. < Yes, that is useful for strengthening your Fear, is it not, though if you want to be technical, it is actually a skill developed by humans. Reapers are the closest related to humans, after all.>
Was it simply butting into their conversation without even introducing themselves? Yes, yes the 'minipet' was.

“Mediation.” The valkyrie repeated, raising a brow now. “Reflection…calm and focus?” She repeated these words uncertainly, now rubbing her chin in thought. “Bah! Says you…” The reaper paused though, looking rather alarmed as another voice seemed to ring out. Hel’s head whipped back and forth, looking for another being in the area around them, not above.
“…Oi! Why don’t you show yourself, eh? I would be very interested in carrying out this conversation.”

Shun scoffed at Hel's reaction, only to pause as he heard a voice speaking into his mind. It wasn't Riley. Or Andeon. Who were the two telepaths he knew of on campus. Furrowing his brow, he glanced up to see the white creature perched above, staring at them. At first, it looked like a minipet, but he knew minis could not speak.
So he concluded that it was someone's familiar.
In which he glanced around to see if there were any other Reapers wandering on about.
"Yes, and some of the techniques for it can help in battle. If you can clear your mind, you are usually better off in dire situations," he said, "And how are you so certain the humans developed this? Who are you anyway?"

Perhaps emotional apathy was a trait that was a common occurrence to many telepathic creatures, if not all of them.

Hel eyed Shun funny. Wait…this could help in battle…? Er…okay…maybe it’d be worth looking into…but later! There was something new (and more interesting) in their midst at the moment.
The reaper blinked as shifting and movement caught her eye, and finally looked up at the creature who…seemed to be addressing them? “Staff member?” The ghoul echoed, looking a bit incredulous at the claim as she stared up at the ‘mini pet’. It was so little! Was this thing really speaking to them? Her brows furrowed…it worked with humans? Huh… Hel looked back over at Shun briefly, to see what he was thinking of this whole situation before she looked back up at the newcomer.
“You are a teacher?” She asked, her tone lightly expressing her skepticism. She hummed a bit. She’d play along. “I can not speak for others…friend…but as to what I want…I want a way to defeat the false reapers. I want to become stronger.”

As with Hel, Shun was finding it a little hard to believe this creature was a faculty member. Then again, if he was a familiar, then perhaps he helps his Reaper teach.
"It's a bit odd for a familiar to be teaching," he said while eyeing it somewhat warily, even after it claimed to have worked with humans quite a bit. This came off as even stranger to him. While he was aware a number of his faction went into the human world for this or that, he... wasn't sure if there was anything like.. this.. creature out there that would help it blend in? Then again, his personal experiences were rather limited so there was no telling.
"Hel's goal is a common one nowadays. Strength is something I seek as well. There might be a few other things, but you could say that is the general goal."

I am here as requested by one of your faculty members, it is a pity they do not work here any longer, I was hoping to discuss with them your lack of general knowledge. >

Hel’s brows furrowed deeper and deeper as she stared up at the creature. Eventually she clenched her fists, easily getting worked up over the subject of weakness, and she had a feeling it was speaking about Red. That field trip was still very fresh in her mind. She raised one of her fists at the ‘mini-pet’, though at this point it was more as an exclamation than a threat as she stomped a foot as well.
“We are weak because no one is teaching us now!” She pointed a finger at it. “Are you going to teach me? Now? Because if you are, then you have my undivided attention! I want to learn! I want to become stronger! I want to crush those false reapers! Right now!”
