Curling herself up tight Lyssa let out a low growl as she pulled at her muscles, every last one singing a tune of sorrow as she demanded them to be a taunt as she could muster. Her morning was only just beginning. A day that started out with speckled clouds and a greasy wind. Today would be one of missed opportunities and hollow victories.
She couldn't wait.
It meant, like most mornings to Lyssa, that something interesting was going to happen! It could be a new gift found, or a new friend in her graveyard! The retirement home where she stalked the darken halls after midnight was always so delightful to play among. There you could hear souls leaving in their sing song manner, skipping away towards the other place. Yet they left themselves behind! Silly humans and their strange rituals, why would you forget ones body. Didn't they need it?
What was she saying!?
She would have no-one to talk to if they all left! She berated herself as she uncurled from her stretch, the tingling feeling in her toes itching to come back as she spread them out along the flattened roots beneath her. She could be dippy herself sometimes! Even with all the knowledge she kept behind her ears she could still be caught up in all the excitement. Silly humans, silly Lyssa. Her yoga finished she purred haphazardly until she got a smooth rhythm going, watching the park unfold in the misty morning fog. People would be appearing soon, the dogs would appear and the birds would go into hysterics laughing about their inability to fly. Silly non-flying humans dogs.
Lyssa could fly. She just chose not too.

The birds burst into movement, but it wasn't a dog that proceeded their flight, not today; today, instead, it was a blur of golden-yellow fur from beneath nearby bushes that led to the explosion of feathers, the sudden squalking and frantic flapping of wings, the horrified sound of creatures under assault.
For a moment, Lyssa's world was going to be a flurry of sound and motion, of light flitting between spread wings and something strange, something familiar, settling beneath them. An aura that prickled at the edges of her senses as something she recognized, something not-quite friendly. Kin.
When the chaos cleared, Laoise was there, prize clutched between her teeth: four feathers that stuck out at odd angles, all of them from the wing of a brightly-colored songbird that had been innocently minding its business. Yellow, bright, the feathers were just touched here and there with a bit of red --
And Lee's mouth was full.

The world was calm. It sang softly to her, it was quite, eerie and it was crying. Simply beautiful. Lyssa loved days like this when she could just sit and purr along with the sobs of the earth. So peaceful, so calm, so -OH GODDESS THE BIRDS WERE FINALLY REVOLTING!!!
Throwing her self towards the ground Lyssa went into freeze frame mode. Her heart pumping into her throat as she covered her face with her paws. How did they find her! Sure she may have stolen an egg or two in her time but they were flimsy and broke and she was very certain she had stopped stealing them...sort of. She could have been seeing if all eggs had the same thing inside them, a deranged paper towel had told her these facts and she was almost quite sure that did or didn't have other things in them...maybe, she needed more proof. But now they had come seek their revenge!! Everyone knew what powers birds had, everyone! A shaking paw slowly lifted from her eye line, she was all prepared to be attacked but she also had places to be, what was taking them so long....ohhhh.
Ohhhhhhhhhhh
It was a cat. Silly cats....Lyssa returned her features to the state of calmness that just moments ago was snatched from her. The purrs kick started and she returned to her fidgeting sitting position, her eyes watching the glow emanating from the cat before her. She may have slow but she knew a being of power when she saw them...actually she saw them when others didn't...and also when they were not there. But this time she was sure of it.
"Meeoo...your presence gives the song i hear a different beat. You serve another...birds? You serve them? I see, I see...you carry them in your mouth. Loving mother, happy guardian."

Laosie's expression was quintessentially cat: mouth full of brightly colored feathers, she tilted her head just slightly to one side, enough to send the world tipping sideways. Her eyes narrowed, puzzled, considering the creature in front of her -- which looked like one of her fellow Mauvians, yes, but seemed barely competent with the language. All the words that came out of Lyssa's mouth were understandable, but the combination of them...well. That left a bit to be desired.
She chewed, considered, and then spat the bird at her feet. Bloodied and battered, its wings twitched a couple times, but other than that, there were no signs of life. She absently poked it with a paw, to make the creature twitch again, haughty eyes turned on the other cat.
"Excuse me? Serve?" Lee sniffed, chin raised. "For dinner, perhaps."

Watching through unblinking eye Lyssa curled her tail around her seated backside before twisting it over her head like a fury hat and then suddenly back again. Even with this unstable movment she never lifted her gaze from the dark ones face, her lips curling into a smile even if there was a slight trmour at the corners.
“Ahh yes to serve, dinner plates, solid circles, ever lasting. Ever lasting life!♫Round and round do the little ones go where they stop nobody knows. ♪"
Her purring was even more erratic now as her excitement grew. This was the unstable entity she was meant to meet today! She gave herself a smug little shake; how she knew these things she would never know! Except for maybe it being the only other talking cat she had met today but truly she would never really know.
“I see the orb of justice, its cracked face, squinty eyes. You sit at its right hand. Do the earth worms tell you of the grey war to come?” Even if Lyssa thought them lying little thief’s she knew that another Mauvian would be taken under the worms friendly ways. She couldn’t let that happen to her new friend! She just couldn’t!
“Let me protect, protect and to serve. Let me protect, protect and to serve.” With an highly unsteady leg she made to step forward. Maybe if she could swallow her whole she could protect her? She did that with all of her gifts even if it did leave her with a talkative tummy for a few days.

There was no movement as Lyssa moved in closer. Even the thrashing tip of Laoise's tail went still, curled around her paws, even her eyes, the dark pupils swelling to devour all color, halted in their flicking and just focused on the other cat. Within the madness of this cat's speech, Laoise could make out some meaning, and it was something she didn't like:
Disparaging comments about her alignment to order. Her dismissal of the human beings Laoise had begun to surround herself with. The threat of what protecting and serving might mean to an agent of chaos.
So let Lyssa approach. It was only once she was within reach that Lee, with her ears flat against her head, would reach out one paw and bop her thoroughly and soundly, canines bared in a hiss. "You watch your tongue."

The bop was...unexpected, maybe a hug of some sort, a chorus of high octave purrs even, but not a bop, never a bop! The paw caught Lyssa just above her nose, she was still chanting random words when she realised what had just happened. This was an attack. Her eyes blinked once, twice and there a few more times in quick succession. She had been stunned! She was going down!!
" MEeeOowTHhh-!" With a high pitched squeal Lyssa eyes closed dramatically as her body swayed briefly in the ebbing wind (which there was none). Gasping she fell to the floor, but not in the way one would expect once defeated. Where was the excitement in that? Real fallen heroes did roly polys, five of them. While this was happening it was only assumed by Lyssa that Laosie was watching in pure hysteria at the gripping, soul searching, moving display of love, loss and revenge! With a stifled gurgle she lay just to the side of the guardian, legs poking out at random angles to mimic the alluring onset rigor mortis. It didn't help that she was still twitching.
and then the purring started.
"Meeoo- Such convivial fun, bird mother. The clouds, they titter over us with illusion of grandeur. You must show them one day, you must show them, show them, sh-ooo--w them!!! *purr-purr-purr* "
It was easy to say Lyssa hadn't understood the threat at all. What she did think of it was...up to interpretation but if anything she was now laying on her back rubbing herself into the grass while stretching out to touch Laoise where she sat. Such good friends they were.

Laoise's expression was one of mixed horror, confusion, and a touch of disgust -- because, well, this cat was simply mad. Off her gourd. Potentially half-witted, but it made her no less dangerous. The paw extended out toward Lee still certainly had claws, as did the other three, so instead of letting the pad come in contact with her own golden fur, Laoise dance back a step, huffing out a breath and putting her ears back.
"I said watch your tongue." It came out as a hiss, her own body pressed low, and the ridge along her spine slowly going up. It made her look bigger, more intimidating, tail swollen to almost twice its size. "And I will add to it watch where you put your paws."
She spread her own forepaw to put wicked claws on display.

Lyssa eyes may have been half closed in sheer comfort but her body was still on edge twitching. A tremour escaped down her body as if her skin moved on its own before setterling behind her shoulder blades. A sudden need to itch, even though there wasn’t one, overcame her and she brought herself quickly upright, watching the quean before her put on a display of dominance. Or that’s what any normal cat would have seen if Lyssa hadn’t be awestruck with the patterns her fur were making just at this minute.
“Watch your tongue the daughter of birds says, as if viewing the passing of time can be so easy. It drips and it drops and it washes out the fear and knowledge you keep closed behind those sharpened gates."
The comment regarding keeping herself to herself had obvious gone unhered as she rocked back and forth. Her purrs danced over every octave as if they were purposely avoiding a tune. She couldn’t help put place a paw out towards laoises body once again, her fur enticing her into a game of make believe and combs. She wanted to touch it, to breath it in. She wanted to become one with the fur and the waves that danced in the wind.
She wanted to stroke her.

Up to this moment, Laoise had been all warning, all talk. Up to this moment, that paw slowly reaching out toward her, it was entirely possible to believe that Lee was bluffing, that she was full of it. That it was friendly joking, perhaps, even if her tone had been flat and deadly and serious. That she would grow to understand Lyssa and submit to whatever craziness she had in mind. Not now. The paw came out slowly, and as the very pad came in contact with short golden fur, Lee pounced. Suddenly she was a wildcat, a feral beast, claws extended and fangs bared as she tangled herself in with Lyssa, kicking out with her hind legs in an attempt to scrape vicious slashes down the other cat's side. Her teeth sought out the back of Lyssa's neck. matisha SORRY...but she did warn her. XD

The shrieking howl that came forth was horrid and painful, if not a little more tuneful than the purrs Lyssa had been trying to make mere moments before. The sudden leap had taken her off guard and it wasn’t until she felt the foreign claws hook into her skin did she start to yowl out in pain. Her matted unkempt fur did nothing to pad her body from Lee’s feet as they came pounding into her underbelly, the powerful hind legs making short work of pumping all the air from Lyssa tiny lungs.
She wasn’t an aggressive cat by any means. Weird, yes. Crazy, yes. A lover of highly intoxicating fumes, big yes. But a fighter? She was most defiantly not, well….. at least not a skilled one that is. Her ability ranged as far as erupting into panic fuelled fits that would hit out at everything before becoming completely immobile and still until said horrible & mean thing went away. It was a sure-proof defensive mechanism by Lyssa’s standards. For everyone else it was completely useless.
“EEEEIII-OOWTH STOP – THinK-EEIIII- ThINk OF ThE BAnkS!! UOOWWTHH! STOOOPP! STOPP-ohhh right there-STOPPP!!”
A battering of paws rained down on Lee’s head but without the use of her nails which she had forgotten to extract they were little more than friendly pats. At least in this way she was now getting to stroke her. Any more of this though and Lyssa’s statue-esc defensive was coming into play. With decisive action there was only one way to deal with a friend who was over giddy like Lee! It was time for Plan B of section 3! With a will of steel, a soul of iron and a digestive tract of questionable mention Lyssa gathered up every ounce of strength and began licking the feline before her. Every inch of her that came into a millimetre from her mouth was touched by a rough tongue, soothing un-tuneful murmurs echoing from her as she sang to calm the flailing beast down. It wasn’t working.

Laoise growled something in reply -- something which, certainly, was words, but considering her mouthful of fur, it was impossible to make out exactly what the words were. Angry. That much was easy to tell. Eventually, with the other cat failing to fight back, her kicking would slow to a token effort; feet twitching out and batting at her belly, green eyes narrowed almost to slits, more confused than anything else. Lee had been prepared for a fight, not for an affectionate slobber all over her. A hesitation. A moment of stillness. Then she sprang away back out of Lyssa's grasp to just stare at her in bafflement. Half of Laoise's fur was licked down flat, in the wrong direction, and she twitched to settle it back down into place. In contrast, Lyssa was likely scratched and battered. "...what is wrong with you?"

There were indeed scratches and bites peppering Lyssa skin, some cuts were mere marks but there were others deep enough to draw blood. Whether she felt them or not was questionable as she appeared to ignore them all only wanting to continue linking her best friend before she moved away. This was more of a shock than the attack and Lyssa couldn’t help but cry her displeasure at Laoise becoming out of her reach.
The question was a simple enough but one that Lyssa, in any state of mind, could never answer. There was too much wrong in the first place to explain what was wrong now, it would have been a better question to ask what, if anything, was right. Insane, special, evil genius or glorified hippy all those things matched and yet they never excused her behaviour. She was simple but she danced the edge of madness that allowed her to see things others may not, to say if this was a gift or a curse was yet to be seen. Of course none of this was explained out loud and Lyssa did what Lyssa did best.
“I just love chee--eese nips.”
She tried to walk towards her, tongue hanging out as she thought to progress their wonderful bonding when a wince, even one Lyssa couldn’t ignore, pulled though her lower limb. Her hind leg had a gash which had been expertly carved from one of Laoise’s talons and the pain which had been a subtle humming Lyssa had begun to sing too now became tearing screams. The red liquid that spilled from the wound sprinkled the grass and although not life threatening a steady stream poured out. Lyssa could almost cry.
“I’m…..I’m…..I’m…..made of KETCHUP!!!” She twisted round and began lapping up the very funny tasting sauce as the thought of Laoise left her mind completely. If anything the last 10 minutes had never happened to Lyssa and it would continue to be if Laoise made contact once again. But right now her whole heart and soul was focused on the sticky substance that was disappearing quickly.

As special as Lyssa might have been, mostly Laoise just stared at her and thought she was special -- which wasn't entirely inaccurate either. Bristling, fur matter and mussed, ears back and tail puffed up to twice its size, the moment the other cat started licking herself, Lee decided she had had just about enough. She took one slow step back, and if that didn't attract attention, she'd take another. The crazy beast was absorbed in licking away the 'ketchup', and while part of Lee reacted to that with finish her off while you have the chance the other part bristled and freaked out and decided it just wasn't worth the hassle. Lyssa licked and Laoise ran, like the wind, escaping out of the other cat's reach before she could start up some more interaction. Matisha SORRY IT WAS JUST TOO MUCH FOR LEE XDDDDDDDD. Fin, I think?
