Welcome to the impromptu flit races. Please list your char and flits somewhere in your first post. Chars without flits are welcome to stop by and make small wagers on race outcomes.

To race: find someone with a flit and challenge, then each person rolls a 1d6. Highest number wins. <3

Wykla: Bronze Boreal, Greens Fescues, Estis, Wrappings, Crimson Shirisis

Wykla couldn't believe how much noise five firelizards could make. They had been perched everywhere in her weyr, chirping, trilling, squawking, and flapping wings. She blamed it wholly on the beautiful spring day outside. The noise had finally gotten onto her nerves. She had left her blue sleeping on a sunny ledge, and gone for a walk taking her hoard with her. They fluttered around her in fanciful patterns. For once, she was utterly free of a flit on her shoulder.

The teen kept an eye on the group as she walked toward the cliff face. Even now the five of them were making a racket. She smiled ruefully and promised it would be a long while before she accepted another flit egg. Now that she was out, Wykla found herself relaxing and starting to enjoy her walk. She slowed and glanced down at the beach from her vantage on the cliff. Walking along a pillar of rock standing just in the water came into view.

C'rci: Crimson Fasha

It really was simply such a nice spring day. The breeze was strong, the sun bright and even C'rci who was more prone to work then play had forgone her usual routine to stroll towards the lake Bolth trailing alongside her. Fasha, the ever moody little crimson had even come out of her usual napping nest of C'rci's bright red tresses to perch atop her owners head little wings half spread. Then spotting the horde of firelizards flitting alongside the cliff she took wing with a trill of greeting and swooped towards them leaving Bolth and C'rci to glance after her.

Shall we Mine? Oh? Isn't that the girl from the investigation? Wykla? Oooo look at all the flitters Mine! W simply must say hello! Bolth said to his rider the growing blue nudging C'rci's side before trotting on ahead leaving her to trail after him with a good natured chuckle.

All right Bolth here I come. Shards. She does have a lot of flitters doesn't she? C'rci thought to her life mate her small smile broadening to a grin as Fasha lifted her little wings and dove circling among the group with a trill. Bolth in his efforts not to be outdone picked up into a gallop bugling out his own greeting skidding to a stop near Wykla followed shortly by his trotting rider.

"Hello Wykla." C'rci greeted waving at the girl as Bolth pranced about here circling to nudge against his riders side nearly knocking her over. The once small blue had grown a good deal of late and with the air so fine this day he stared up at the flittering firelizards with whirling eyes.

C'rci followed his longed gaze with a rather jealous one of her own. We'll take to the sky's soon Mine. Together. We'll sweep the clouds out of the blue. Bolth assured her rubbing his head against his human's side.

Soon indeed.
C'rci thought to him scratching an eyeridge with a chuckle as the blue fanned his wings slightly enjoying the cool breeze coming in from the sea.

Wykla hadn't thought her flight couldn't get any noisier, but somehow they managed. Volume and aerial aerobatics made her duck lest flit wings get tangled in her black hair. She eyed them, then realized there was a second crimson. Well that explained it. A quick look around gave her an idea who the new flit belonged to. Wykla stopped so Bolth and C'rci could catch up.

"Hey Bolth, C'rci. How's it going?" She nodded to the blue. "I hope you weren't driven out by the same reason I was." Wykla doubted it with just one flit, but who knew. They could simply be walking because they wanted to.

The group tried to impress Fasha with their antics. Greeting her with shrill happy cries.

Hello Wykla! Mine and I are enjoying the weather. It's such a fine day today. Bolth replied crooning up at the girl cheerfully as his rider chuckled watching as Fasha dove and winged amongst Wykla's fair taunting the silly ones that tried to impress her.

"Heh it seems Fasha's looking for a race." C'rci replied joking laughing at her little spitfire of a firelizard. "Well if you mean we were driven outside by the wonderful day then yes. Bolth and I usually try and jog around the lake." She answered lifting a hand to push a few strands of red hair that had flown into her face behind her ear.

Oh yes we thought we might go swimming if the water isn't too cold. Bolth chimed in chirping and cheering the flits on watching as his little crimson friend flared her wings bugling a challenge to the others for a race.

"There she goes again. I hope she doesn't tire herself out too much." C'rci mused shaking her head with a small smile knowing that before long the little crimson would be back to sleeping grumpily in her hair. It was a rare day that she or Bolth were without their favorite winged ornament.

I'm sure she'll be fine mine. She just wants to test her wings same as us.
Bolth assured his lifting onto his hind legs to rub against C'rci sending both dragon and laughing rider toppling into the grass.

"Ok Bolth. Now get off my you big lovable lump!" C'rci answered him laughing heartily where the she lay Bolth perching on her on the ground.

Enyo smiles as she and her Flits came over; her Jineth followed as she watched the black flit stay on Enyo's shoulders. Enyo smiles, "I would like to allow my Flits, Burst(black), Xiena(dark green), Dip(green) and Laoch(Bronze) Race if any one would like to, Dinchara isn't feeling up to it." She smiles and pets the black Flit on her shoulder as the other four sit on the ground with a prideful look in their form.

Xiena chirps a bit as she looks to Wrappings giving a Challenge to the Green.
Jineth smiled and looked at Bolth, Hello.

She nodded to Bolth. "It is and my fair can't stop talking about it." Wykla gave a rueful grin to the dragon. There seemed to be something about this spring day that made all of hers want to talk, and talk loudly. "They made so much noise in our weyr I couldn't hear myself think." Her practiced eye followed the group as it wove in and out. The three greens putting in more effort to awe Fasha than Boreal or Shirisis.

"Looks like they wouldn't mind one. Maybe if they get worn out I can return safely to my weyr." She grinned to show the joke. "You're reason be better than mine C'rci. I didn't think you'd be bothered by the cold Bolth. Unfortunately its much too cold for me. She'd be more than welcome to wear mine out." Wykla looked around then pointed.

"That rock sticking out of the water there. We could start them here on the cliff send 'em down to the rock where they have to touch it and return. First one back wins and no going between." She grinned. This could work out perfectly for her.

Wykla nodded pleasantly to Enyo as she joined them. "By all means. I'm sorry to hear that Dinchara isn't feeling well."
Wrappings hearing the challenge from another green broke off from Fasha. She hovered over Xiena and trilled back. Challenge accepted!

Our Fasha likes to sleep a lot, but Mine assures me that is because she is still young and little ones sleep a lot. I don't mind her sleeping on me when I'm sunning or napping though. Bolth replied not aware that the reason he too slept so much was because he also was just a baby which earned him a loving head pat from C'rci who couldn't help, but be amused by her dragons antics from where the pair of them now lay on the grass. Shifting off his rider at her earlier urging Bolth freed C'rci who picking a few blades off grass off of herself stood dusting her pants off.

"All right then it's decided. A race it is." C'rci replied calling Fasha to where they would make the starting point feeding the rules and instructions to the little crimson as she chirped at her's inquisitively.

I don't mind the cold at all, but Mine can't stand it. She turns this pretty shade of pale white blue and splutters funny curse words if I splash her on the shore. Bolth informed Wykla his eyes whirling with good humor as C'rci sensing her dragons amusement could only roll her eyes and glance distastefully at the cold chill lake. No way was the blue getting her anywhere near the water when it was that cold. Even with a warm dragon body to cling too C'rci still got chills badly.

"That's only because human hide isn't as thick as dragonhide. If I was meant to deal with cold I'd have been born with fur." The Weyrling grumbled and lifted her hand Fasha taking off from it and hovering ready to begin the race.

Spotting Enyo and Jineth Bolth who had since settled on the ground spreading his big striped steely blue wings out to sun himself lifted his head his eyes whirling as he let out a merry bugled greeting. Jineth. How goes things? Have you come to join our group? The sun is nice here and the breeze tickles by wings as it comes in from the ocean. Bolth inquired as C'rci began the count down for the race.

"On your mark, get set, Fly!" And with that command Fasha took off for the rock below.

An amused, but understanding, smile crossed Wykla's lips. "Aye Shirisis still sleeps quite a bit. Nothing wrong with enjoying a good nap in the sun, especially with company." She was glad Kameth had never tried to sit on her. He had always given her exactly the right amount of space.

Wykla called the obedient bronze to her. She held him on her arm and looked into his eyes. "Time to spend some energy. Fly to the rock and back, no going between." A finger rubbed his eyeridge with his accepting chirp. Soon Boreal joined Fasha hovering in the sky. He gave an impatient squeak until the other girl yelled fly. Then he was off like a firelizard after a tasty treat. He wanted to please his girl!

Wykla smirked watching the two flits head for the rock. She turned back to the others, waiting for their return. It shouldn't take long. "Sadly we don't have hides as thick as yours. Which is a good thing. Can you imagine trying to wear dragon sized riding leathers?" It was an amusing image; a dragon dressed up as his rider. She felt Kameth's unamused snort in the back of her mind.

Bronze Boreal was fast, but Fasha was faster as the small Crimson winged ahead of the bronze with a challenging cry. Let the bronze come! Her wings were still hardy and strong! Fanning her wings Fasha touched feet first onto the rock below before springing from the surface battering her wings against the wind and using the slightly lifting updraft to give her little form a boost.

Soon enough panting and creeling with joy the little crimson alighted on C'rci's outstretched arm. She won! See! See hers! She was the best! The crimson regaled her owner with chirps and trills as C'rci chuckled scratching the little creatures eyeridges affectionately.

For a moment Bolth stared at his rider his eyes whirling on confusion as he tried to picture the clothes she wore on him before shaking his head with a snort. Why what a silly idea! He'd get all tangled up for sure! I think flightless one things can stay on flightless ones. Except blankets and those fluffy things you rest your heads on. I like those. I do not mind them. Bolth informed them glancing up at Fasha and crooning his congradulations, the little crimson preening under such praise.

"Oh yes you and pillows and blankets." C'rci replied rolling her eyes in mock exasperation at her dragons more odd tastes before dropping her free hand to pat him lovingly on the head.

Boreal put forth a good effort. He twittered back at the crimson as they reached the rock. He pounced on it and took off back toward His. Though he tried valiently, the crimson beat him by a tail length. He landed on his girl's shoulder and trilled.

Wykla grinned as the flits made it back. "Congrats to Fasha." She petted the bronze consolingly. Her other flits set up a concophany of noise and she rolled her eyes. Clearly she needed someone to challenge them too. Boreal couldn't have all the fun. She looked around.

A laugh escaped her at Bolth's comment. "Aye, probably better that way. There ain't enough leathers in the world to cover all the dragons."

"Heh you laugh, but Bolth is a real cover hog!" C'rci replied chuckling and stroking her dragon affectionately as Fasha moved to perch on the woman's shoulder her little eyelids drooping from the effort.

"You're bronze did really well. I think if Fasha hadn't been a bit smaller he'd have beat her for sure. Oh you did well dear there's no insult to your effort at all." She complimented Wykla on her bronze pausing when Fasha cheeping up insulted only to be soothed once she was assured her's knew just how much better she was then some stuffy bronze! Ha! A boy beat her! Never!

Shaking her head good naturedly at the little crimson C'rci lifted a hand to stroke the little creatures head. I'm sorry Mine the fluffy things and blankets are just so soft. Like big over stuffed wherries. Bolth replied his eyes whirling in amusement reflecting the laughter that bubbled up in his rider's throat at his comment. "All right can't fault you there they are soft."

Wykla eyed the blue with a grin. "He may not be big now, but he'll get that way. Least my flits won't grow much bigger though they take more up than their share of my bed."

"Thanks, though I think he threw it cause she was a crimson. What would Cheer say Boreal?" She teased the bronze who chittered playfully back. "Why not get him his own? I'm sure the tanners and clothweavers wouldn't mind selling imperfect works for a cheaper price. Then you can combine them into one big one for Bolth. Or add to it as he grows."
