Places

Below are the notable areas on the ranch and places pokemon may visit. New areas may appear or old areas could receive a renovation as the ranch grows.

Map of the ranch

Barn: A big red barn with its doors open almost all the time for pokemon to sleep in the stables if they want during the day or night. There’s also a front office where the humans that run the ranch can be found most times. Extending from either side of the outside of the barn, is a white picket fence that shows the border of the ranch. Pokemon are advised to stay within the borders of the ranch so that they don’t get hurt outside of it.
Fountain: A two tier fountain that rests in the middle of the ranch. Small and medium size pokemon can play inside it and the top tier sprays water up then trickling down below.
Pond: A small pond with clear water at one edge of the ranch. All pokemon are welcome to play in the water while all sizes of water types are able to stay here. The larger water types are also initially released here.
Small forest: A small forest where the trees are a luscious green but spaced between each other. The forest does look like it gets deeper but that’s beyond the white picket fence that goes through the forest.
Fields: The flat short grass fields take up whatever areas are left over. There’s nothing too remarkable about the fields as they are very plain and there aren’t many trees to see on it. It’s likely to be used later for new areas since there’s so much of it.

People

The people that work on the ranch are pretty much npcs. They’ll be there when you need a pokemon to be healed or pop in for announcements about the ranch. These short bios are here just so you know what they do around the ranch.

Hailey: She’s the energetic founder of the ranch and deals with most of the trainers when they first visit the ranch. It can easily be said that she’s the face of Pokemon Ranch. She can be found in the office or roaming around the ranch.
Janet: She’s the nurse of the ranch and heals any pokemon that gets injured on the ranch. She’s quiet and reserved but always has a smile on. She can usually be found inside the barn, looking after pokemon resting in the stables.
Henry: He covers most of the odd jobs around the ranch that require labor to them. His duties also require him to be the janitor for the ranch, cleaning up after the pokemon. He keeps to himself mostly, but if you do catch him he mostly just spouts complaints about cleaning up after the messes, to put it nicely, of the pokemon. With that, he takes any chance to go rush on building or repair projects for the ranch instead.

"Aren't you coming?!" Mezame's Skitty asked Mezame's Starly, who was sitting comfortably on the trainers head as usual.
"No." Replied Mezame's Starly. "I've got some training to do with the human. She'll never learn if she doesn't practice. And I'll never improve unless she does."
Skitty had caught sight of her tail and was spinning around after it through most of Starly's explanation.
"What?" She asked suddenly aware he'd spoken. Starly sighed.
"You have fun now Skitty!" Mezame said. Skitty stopped trying to reach for her tail with her stubby arms and looked around for the familiar voice of the trainer.
"What?!" She asked again.
"You have fun." Mezame repeated. "You'll enjoy yourself more here than training with Starly and me or being cooped up in your pokéball." The trainer was smiling, so Skitty supposed she should smile too. She smiled wide, little teeth showing and nodded vigorously.
"Okay!"
Mezame waved before she turned and left.
Skitty wasn't sure what to do next, until she noticed a door had been opened for her and she skipped happily out into the field, immediately starting to chase mini cotton spores floating in the air.

"I'm really, really sorry, for real," Raide began under the scrutiny of multiple, two to be exact, glares that would have made a less accustomed person run away. "No really, you know I'm sorry." The glares didn't change. "I wouldn't leave you here if I didn't have to!" No change. "It'll only be a little while!" The glares intensified if that was possible. "Please tolerate being here at least? I don't want to go to Aunt Irene's, either, but I have to. At least the Pokemon here aren't going to be crazy." This time, all three Pokemon gave their trainer incredulous looks. "Probably," Raide amended, "But I really need you to keep the property damage to a minimum, Ok? I'll see all of you once our family reunion is over." With that, Raide had to leave as Anne (who had dropped off her Pokemon as well) was trying to drag her by the arm out to the car to get going. Once she was almost in the car, she motioned to Scyther that he should at least keep an eye out on the younger ones before joining her sister in a rant about unfriendly and Pokephobic extended families.

The door shut, and the family drove away. The Pokemon were alone with only the employees and other Pokemon with them. How exciting. Almost immediately, Nell began bouncing around with boundless energy thinking of all the ways she could utilize the extremely open space and the new friends. Hopefully they would learn some new games. She could make up the rules as she went along! Eventually, she picked a direction and headed off towards the middle of the empty field. Nell had heard there was a fountain in that direction!

Scyther and Cyndaquil stood there a moment after the Chinchou was gone, but they too parted ways... Or Scyther did. He was resigned to his babysitting duties, but that didn't mean he had to hover like a mother... And it would not be productive to his job if Cyndaquil continued to irritate him in the usual pattern of things. Scyther darted over towards the forest where it would hopefully be pretty empty. Cyndaquil just walked around to the side of the barn, more in the field than the barn, curled up and tried to get to sleep. He'd convince the other Pokemon of his superiority as soon as he got some rest.

Jetta released Coal and Loomy from their pokéballs and crouched down to talk to them. Loomy seemed pretty excited to be in a field, but Coal looked a little concerned - like he knew what was coming.
"Gooper and I have to be some place, so I was thinking you two could stay in here for a little while. It's a pokémon ranch, and they have all kinds of other pokémon around. I'm sure you'll have fun."
"Chimchar chimhar," Coal said, resigned to his fate. Loomy was a little more enthusiastic, jumping up and down on the spot and sort of squeaking gruffly.
"Okay, I'll be back for you guys later, okay?" Jetta said, standing up.
Coal nodded and turned away, shepherding Loomy along, away from the gates and toward a big barn.

When Coal looked back again, Jetta was gone. He knew she'd be back, but he was already lonely for her. "This place is too quiet. I wish Jetta were with us."
"I like it. Forget about her for a while and let's relax. Take in some sun. Talk to some other pokémon. She'll be back before you know it," Loomy replied. She walked away from the barn that Coal had led her to, and out into the field, where she could see other pokémon. It looked like a really nice place to her.
"I don't know... I think I'll wait here for Jetta to come back," Coal said. "She won't be long. Just you don't wander too far."

Kadabra found himself resting for the moment at the base of a fountain after finishing exploring much of the ranch. It was very nice to him as it was quiet and a relaxing atmosphere. There were only a few pokemon in the area either in or around the fountain, so he took a seat leaning up against the bottom of the fountain taking in the peace for a second.

Petilil had begun inspecting a few trees, needing to find somewhere suitable to set up a base for herself. Trees didn't much grow much here like she had been used to in the wild. One tree did have a wider trunk to it than the others with a nice round hole in about the ground just about the little grass type's size. It could be a possibility as she went to investigate further. She had gotten close enough to barely peer inside the dark hole, not noticing on the other side a pair of pokemon coming towards the tree on the other side. She heard a bump coming from the other side as the tree began to shake as well. "Eep!" She said jumping back away from the tree. Sneaking a look to the other side to see what caused it she saw the couple of pokemon standing around, one on the ground and the other above him. She huffed to herself, a little upset at the two, not noticing that their disruption, not only shook out the little Petilil from it.
