She wasn't really sure what exactly happened, but at first, there was a party. She was with Jericho and Shehk... And then they vanished off somewhere, and she was thirsty, but before she could have a drink, there was the weirdest special effects display by some gnomes before they were ushered out of the place.
It was all very weird.
Standing outside the auditorium, with her head a little clearer, she quickly realized that she had lost her date sometime during the party. It didn't take too long before she begun to recall what exactly happened, although the details were fuzzy - there was a photo shoot... Mac was there... And then... She... Asked for Jericho... And wandered away from Mac...
Suddenly, it felt very cold all of a sudden, and she shivered, rubbing at her bare arms.

Mac hadn't quite enjoyed the end of the party. He'd been forgotten by his ghoulfriend, attacked by a psycho valkyrie, made out to be the bad guy when he seriously hadn't done anything this time, and to top it off he was increadibly queasy. After the issue with Freya he had wandered off to try and find Lizzy; he found her, but...not how he wanted to.
He thought about going in after her and staking his claim, but at the time he just couldn't bring himself to do it. That was when he left the party to stand outside and clear his head. The effect faded not too long after that, along with the envy; all that was left was the hurt he had felt when she looked at him like she didn't know him, when she acted like he'd never happened...
His hands stuffed into his pockets, watching the group of students mill out of the party, but when his eyes settled on one ghoul in particular...
Mac leveled a lingering stare on the ghoul, his expression fading to unreadable, and then he turned around and walked away, without a word.

After brooding for a while, she set out to look for her boilfriend; she honestly wasn't sure what had happened to her during the party, but the truth was that she couldn't shake the feeling that she might had hurt Mac... Unintentionally or not.
"Mac!" She had spotted him as he turned to walk away, but she was sure that he had glanced her way... Maybe he had missed her? It was possible, seeing how there were a lot of students exiting the auditorium at once. Feeling anxious all of a sudden, she pushed her way through the crowd, "Mac, wait! I'm here! Mac!" He wasn't walking away on purpose, right? He would never do that!
... Right?

Mac heard her call, but at first he ignored her. He never really took well to stings, especially ones like this. The second time she said his name he paused for a moment, but it wasn't until the third that he looked back at her, as unimpressed as ever.
"No, I don't know where Jericho went." Sure, she wasn't calling him Puppy, but...he just couldn't stop himself from saying it.

She perked up when he stopped, assuming that he had heard her. However, his expression caught her off guard, and at his words, she practically froze in her steps and physically deflated, "N-no, I... I w-wasn't going to..." She knew that he had every right to be upset, especially since she knew the reason behind his comment.
That didn't lessen the hurt she felt though.
"I was looking for you," She replied quietly between looking at him and looking at the grass, not sure how to continue from there.

"Oh, I see. You're settling, again." He said before he could stop it, frowning as always. She had a huge crush on Jericho before this whole thing happened, didn't she? He distinctly remembered her crying over him; how could he forget? It was the first time he saw her as anything but a demon. Even at this party though...she had hung around him a lot before the whole Puppy thing; at the time he didn't think anything of it, but now...
With all this love in the air, maybe...
His heart clenched and his dark eyes darted to the ground. "Whatever. It's late, go home, Lizzy."

"Settling...? What-" She paused, chewing on her lower lip before tentatively reaching out to take his sleeve, trying her best not to look away, forcing herself to look at Mac, "Mac, I'm sorry... I wasn't sure why I asked for Jericho just now... I just... I felt weird and I... I'm sorry..."

Mac looked conflicted. Like he wanted to walk away, tell her something and ignore her all at once. He had turned away from her shortly after her apology, all set to pull his arm free and walk away from her. Before he could take a step though, he seemed to have changed his mind again.
"I know why." He informed her as he pivoted on his heel to face her once more, his index finger pointed towards the ground. "You never got over him, did you?" Mac demanded to know; he was desperate to know, actually. But it scared him...really badly.

Her grip on his sleeve tightened when she realized that he was about to walk away from her again, like she would just follow him anyway, rather than 'go home'. She didn't want to go home. The day started out all happy and all sorts of wonderful, but now, she was hurting and Mac was upset at her... And it was all her fault this time.
"That's not true!" She might had answered a little too loudly as she frowned; she no longer felt anything towards Jericho! There was that little bit just now, but she was sure that she wasn't herself when she felt that, "He's just a good friend of mine now! I mean... He was the first boil I really got to know, and he was so nice to me... So I guess that's how the crush developed." She paused briefly, hesitating for a moment before throwing her arms around him, burying her face into his chest, "But he had never, not tonight, not ever, made me feel the way you make me feel."

Still, Mac looked unconvinced...but he really, really did want to believe her. He didn't want to be anyone's rebound, especially not someone he loved so much. Still...the Reaper saw what had gone on in there. Everyone he knew, himself included, had really only become an exaggerated form of one part of them; Mitsu's repressed confidence, Freya's batshit crazy, Shun's general lack of ********, his own jealousy...by extension, her reaction made sense if she still harboured something intense for the Dragon.
He did so want to believe her.
"I love you, but..." His hand had come up to ghost his palm against her smooth cheek, but the gesture didn't last long. "I...just...I don't know, Lizzy. It hurt..." To be called Puppy, to hear her ask for another boil while they arrived as a pair...nnngh. It hurt, and he really did want to believe her.

"I love you too," She looked up at him, refusing to let go of him, afraid that he would try to walk away again, only this time he might not look back, "I didn't mean to hurt you... I..." Her voice was soft, and as much as it hurt to hear the 'but' from Mac, as much as she wanted to do so because she wasn't sure how to deal with the situation, she didn't cry... Just in case Mac decided that pretending to be fine just to stop her from crying was a good idea.
She gave him a squeeze, "I want you to believe me again... I just... I don't know how, but I want you to trust me again. I have no feelings for Jericho. He's only a good friend to me..."

It was a little silly to have this conversation over some words. His reaction and her insisting on his 'trusting her again' seemed more like she had cheated on him; he knew she didn't, he knew she wouldn't. Especially considering that whole Amphi fiasco! She was so up in arms about making it 'right' that it didn't make any sense that she would be the one cheating. Besides, if Lizzy was nothing if she wasn't painfully honest, or at least too good of a ghoul to lie properly. Still he couldn't help it, and the sting of her words and actions were as deep to him as if she had cheated on him. Oh the woes of an overly defensive teenager in love.
He wanted to forgive her and tell her everything was alright, but it hurt too much for him to brush off. He couldn't win; apparently he wasn't allowed to find a happy medium, either. After a long moment of silence, Mac let out a very frustrated groan.
"RRRGH!" He growled, yanking his arm from hers to bury his hands into his hair, ruffling his own curls in frustration. "I know, I know! I know you don't, I know!" Apparently repeating it was the proper way to handle this. "Just, what happened, it just..." His words ended in another rumble of frustration before he sighed and deemed to deflate, slouching his shoulders with his arms dangling limply in front of him.
"Can we just...pretend the world exploded before we got to the booth? And Magically reformed twenty seconds from now?"

The longer he remained silent, the more worried she looked, and when he suddenly yelled and pulled himself away from her, she actually froze in place, holding her breath. While his outburst was not what she had expected, she did allow him to continue yelling without interfering; or rather, she was at a loss as to what she should do, except to stand there and shuffle her feet nervously once in a while.
His question made her frown, and now that he didn't look like he was about to start yelling again, she moved in to give him what she hoped was a comforting hug. Gently brushing her fingers through his hair before taking his hand in her free hand, she tilted her head to meet his gaze, "Will... You be happy if we did that?"

The hug was comforting, and it was helping him believe what he wanted to believe. Sure, she might still hold a candle for her old flame, but...she'd stuck with him, right? Though all his psychobabble and general cruelty, through every moment - or nearly every moment - where he was as uncertain as a child.
"I think so." He murmured, his free hand sliding around her waist as he brought her hand up to kiss her knuckles. After a few moments of silence, he piped up. "So, your room or mine?" Apparently twenty seconds had passed, and he was hellbent on pretending everythign was okay.

She stared at him, face scrunched - even when he kissed her knuckles - up as she tried to determine if he was lying to her; while 'I think so' wasn't a definite answer, at least he no longer looked upset... Which was a definite improvement from before.
Honestly, she was just glad that he was no longer upset at her.
"... Alright," She sighed softly before breaking into a smile, giving his hand a squeeze, "Anywhere with you is good... Your pick." On another day she might had pretended that she didn't have any intention of staying over - which Mac would probably use against her anyway - but today... Well, she really didn't want him to go back to being in a foul mood.
