Amphi was shocked to hear, though she wouldn't tell who her sources were that her two closest friends didn't know how to swim.
Well not everyone was born in the water like her but....she wanted to share the joys of water and the sea with Lizzy and Xiu, after all that they have given her. She could only think of one way though to show her appreciation and that was to...to help them swim!
She left a small note for Lizzy under her door that read:
Dear Lizzy,
I have something to show you by the lake bay! I'd love to go swimming with you so bring a swimsuit and um anything else you need!

and then she left one under Xiu's door:
Dear Xiu,
Lizzy and I are going to go swimming if you want to come! Bring a swimsuit and anything else you need!
P.S. Can you bring some more of that berry tea? It was really good....I have snacks though so don't worry about that!

Thank goodness both of the ghoul's were in the demon dorms, otherwise this would be really pressing on time. Pleased with her scheme, she rubbed her cheeks before heading down to the lake to set up what she thought would be a good thing for the ghouls.
"I hope they don't mind..." She rubbed her cheeks again before donning her swimsuit. She wouldn't really need it seeing as her natural form changed her body but...she thought the ghouls would be alright with it....

Swimming.
Someone asked her out swimming.
And it wasn't Mac.
She couldn't help feeling wary after reading the note that Rosenthal had picked up at the door and delivered to her; it wasn't that she didn't trust Amphi... She liked the mermaid a lot, and honestly, she was also a little grateful towards her... That she would be so nice to her even after the whole Mac thing. Then again, it wasn't any of their fault. It was kind of Mac's fault for being... Well, Mac.
Thus, slipping into her swimsuit and putting on an oversized shirt, she stuffed some toiletries into a duffer bag and lugged the whole thing to the lake bay, along with a pair of arm floaties and a ring float, just in case, although she had yet to plump air into them for easier transportation.
"Amphiiii?" She called out once she was there, looking nervously at the lake as she put her belongings down on the ground; it was huge... Bigger than the pool, and it wasn't contained like the gym! Nobody would be able to hear her screams.

Ooh, swimming! And with Amphi and Lizzy! Now who could turn down the offer to go for a dive with two of her friends? Certainly not Xiu (even if "go for a dive" really meant "flail around in a futile attempt to stay afloat").
She grinned at the little request written on the note, immediately heading into her kitchen to prepare the tea. Of course, since it wasn't specified, she wasn't sure if the mermaid wanted her to bring a canister of dried loose leaves or a brew up a batch of the tea herself...so she did both. The chilled brew was poured into a thermos, and dried tea leaves were separated into two small canisters, one tied with a blue ribbon, and the other tied with a pink one.
With this prepared, she changed into her swimsuit, tossing a loose dress on over top and stuffing everything else she needed into a bag. After double-checking that she had everything, the ghoul head out towards the designated place.
She heard Lizzy's voice before she saw her. Grinning, Xiu broke into a light jog, her eyes lighting up as she caught sight of the demoness a few meters away. "Lizzy, hi!" She called brightly, lifting her free hand to wave. She waited until she reached the other ghoul before she spoke again, tail wagging with excitement behind her. "I hope you don't mind if I join you guys! Amphi slipped a note under my door, so...!"
And speaking of their friend, where was she?

Amphi grinned as she set up everything. The flotation devices she had borrowed we're completely blown up...nevermind her face looked a little pale from the sheer amount of blowing power (NO DIRTY THOUGHTS YOU TWO * A*) it took to get them filled up.
When that was done, she set up a small folding table and a Umbrella over it to keep the snacks and such from spoiling. Cocking her hands on her hips, she was pleased with this set up.
Her ear fins perked up as she heard her two friends together before heading over to them. "Sorry Lizzy....Xiu...over here!" She smiled as she called them over, a shy smile before she looked them over. "This is good, I am glad both of you came..." First she came to hug Lizzy before hugging Xiu next and then....
"Xiu if you want to set those over there...." She waved to the small pile of snacks and then looked at them both..."Are...are you guys comfortable with swimming in the lake? I know its a little out there instead of say...going to the pool but....it'll be easier to swim in since the shore goes out farther?"

Thanatos is rather amused to hear that Amphi apparently has good blowing power.
"Xiu!" Lizzy gave her friend a hug upon seeing her; honestly, since the note said nothing about anyone else joining them, she was a little surprised to see the Baku. However, it was a nice sort of surprise and she found herself smiling away, glad to be able to spend some time with two of her friends at once, "Of course I don't mind! Why would I mind?" She giggled, finding Xiu's excitement rather contagious.
"There you are, Amphi!" She returned the hug easily, giving the mermaid a brief squeeze before letting go, looking at the table that she had set up, "Awww! You set up floaties! And snacks too! Ohh, Xiu, you brought something along?" That was so thoughtful of both of them! However, she couldn't help but feel a little bad that she hadn't brought anything along to contribute to what looked like a mini picnic to her.
When swimming was brought up, she paused, looking sheepish as she smiled, giving a thumbs up, "It's alright! I brought along my own floaties too!" She came prepared!

Xiu grinned brightly at Lizzy, returning the hug before drawing back. "I'm glad! And I'm so excited to be swimming with you again! Remember the first day I was enrolled in Amity?" Immediately after settling in and calling the spider demoness, she had been invited to go swimming. And...she had ended up getting shoved into the pool by Mac but it had been fun aside from that, okay.
Her eyes lit up at Amphi's voice, and she returned the hug with a bright laugh. "Hi, Amphi! And you really went out of your way for all of this!" Xiu's eyes had widened as she caught sight of the floaties, the table of snacks, and the large umbrella shielding them. As she obediently moved to set the tea onto the table, she offered Lizzy a sheepish grin. "Just some fruit tea. Nothing special, really!"
She didn't even hesitate at Amphi's question, nodding eagerly. "Yes! Or, well," A pause, "...I'm not a very, um...elegant swimmer, but I should be able to stay afloat." And on the (fairly likely) chance that she started drowning...at least the mermaid was there?

Amphi smiled as her friends and herself spread out the hugs before she got serious.
"Of course I did! I want this to be fun and..." She smiled shyly at them, "I want to be able to swim with my two best friends." She nodded before looking them over. "Okay! I don't want to toss you in or anything, since Lizzy brought her own, Xiu do you want to grab some floaties?" Amphi pointed behind her before looking at the water. "I...I tested to make sure it was warm enough but if its too cold, let me know so we can move to the swimming pool or something..." She nodded again before wringing her hands together.
"Okay...Okay, I will keep you guys safe okay? So...so let's do this." She nodded before heading in first. It took only a minute for her transformation to happen, her body slowly changed from fleshy legs to a scaled bright blue and purple tail. She waded to the deeper area of the lake before diving under and then back out, her hair a wet slick mess. She smiled happily as she splashed the water. "Okay guys! Water's all clear!" She tail flipped water at them gently, a small shower to get them in. She didn't get to swim with others often, the last person had been Ys and sadly she hadn't seen her deep sea brethren in a long time. it was a shame, there didn't seem to be a lot of water creatures around.

"Awwwwwww," She smiled, blushing a little at the ghoul's choice of words; she couldn't possibly refuse Amphi! Not after she called them her 'two best friends' and put so much thought into this swimming trip! Clapping her hands together, her smile widened as she nodded, "I would love to join you in the water! I trust you, after all!"
As Amphi left them to get ready, Lizzy couldn't take her eyes off Amphi's lower body transformation from legs to tail, staring at her with an expression akin to emotion_kirakira
Quickly putting on her arm floaties and grabbing an inner tube, she waited for Xiu to get ready as well before joining Amphi in the water, shivering at first due to the feeling of her feet being submerged by water. This feeling quickly reached her legs, before it got deep enough to reach her waist; at least it wasn't cold though, as Amphi said. As it got deeper, she relied on the inner tube to stay afloat, paddling her way to the mermaid, looking slightly embarrassed, "Uh, I must look really clumsy to you in water..."

Why was Amphi so cute?
Nodding eagerly, the baku went to grab a pair of floaties, bringing them back with her as she hurried to where Lizzy and Amphi were waiting. She had been in the process of sliding one of them onto her arms when the mermaid dived in first, and like Lizzy, Xiu watched the transformation with wide, sparkly eyes. Then she turned and looked at the spider demoness with a bright smile.
"Look at her tail! Isn't it pretty?" She wished that her tail looked like that! And the graceful way in which Amphi was moving through the water...sigh. She was just about to ruin that.
Sliding her arms through both of the floaties, she slipped into the water after her first. A chill ran up her body as her body became submerged in the water, but after a moment passed, she felt her body adjust to the temperature. Bobbing up and down, she awkwardly made her way towards the two ghouls, emitting a little laugh when she heard Lizzy's comment.
"Awww, don't say that! I think you look fine, Lizzy! At least you don't--ah!" The baku yelped suddenly, and then promptly began to cough as she accidentally inhaled a bit of water. As she coughed, she held up a hand to indicate that she was fine, her face red more out of embarrassment than lack of breath. "I...cough I'm o--cougho-okay! D-don't coughcoughcough worry!"

Amphi ran a hand down the said tail to clear it of any of the human clothing that her sisters were so fond of making her wear before looking up, her hair floated along her body in the water as she watched her two friends come in.
"Don't...don't go too deep yet okay!??!" She paddled over to them before swimming circles around and smiling. "I'm so happy to see you guys in the water!" She was so excited, that her smile just....spread all over her face. Not a blush or flush in the world when she was in the water.
"Not at all-" Amphi looked at Lizzy first before immediatly coming over to Xiu. "Xiu-" She watched her friend regain her breath before laughing. "I don't think you should think of trying to be a mermaid just yet Xiu okay? Leave the breathing of water to me!" She paddled next to the two before thinking....
"Do you guys want to ask questions? Is there something you want to learn so that it won't be so bad?" She poked the floaties, "I don't want to make you uncomforatable or like....force you to do anything you don't want to. Like...um..." She blinked before looking down the lake's endless bottom. "Like swimming underwater and...." She fingered the floaties both of the ghouls had. "I find these landwalker apparatuses amusing though....they are colorful for keeping you a float. It would be bad in the sea though, Predators would hone on you-" She blinked before her jaw dropped, "I MEAN YOU WOULD BE SAFE IN THE OCEANS AS WELL."

"Okay!" She had no intention of going into deeper waters, anyway, especially since this was a public, open area rather than a closed area such as the pool; there was something exciting about swimming outside though... With the sky above them and a picnic waiting for them on dry land, "Awww, I'll say yes to swimming with you or Xiu anytime though!"
She petted Xiu on her back before giggling along with Amphi, "Um... Mac taught me how to tread water, but I'm not too good at it. I get tired too easily to stay up for long..." She looked sheepish, "Maybe... How to swim so that I can move without expanding too much energy...?" She didn't have anything in mind.
"... Predators?" Amphi would be met with a wide-eyed stare from Lizzy, before she chuckled nervously, waving a hand in the air in a dismissive manner, "But this is not the ocean! We'll be safe here!" Right?

Upon recovering, Xiu managed an embarrassed laugh at Amphi's comment. "Y-yes, don't worry! I don't think bakus are meant to breathe underwater, so I'll leave that to you." She took note to be more careful from now on. While she sincerely doubted (or at least, she hoped) that she would get into any series trouble with both Lizzy and Amphi here, it was better to be safe than sorry.
She nodded in agreement to Lizzy's request--yes, that would be quite useful!--before humming thoughtfully. "And I'm...not very good with diving," She admitted, looking a little sheepish, "So if you have any tips about, um, holding your breathe and anything like that...?"
Xiu may or may not have frozen up slightly at the mention of predators. A wary glance was shot down at the water that they were submerged in and, without saying anything, she turned her round--and vaguely nervous--gaze up towards the friends.

Amphi nodded at Lizzy's question, choosing to answer that first instead of everything else. She contemplated the ways to explain it for a second before smiling softly.
"In the water, because your bodies are filled with..." She flushed before waving her hands, "fats and oxygen, it makes it easier for your body to...float upwards. Fat is less dense then water." Her flush deepened. "Girls...girls especially stay afloat better because of....our...chest area's....and we have more fat then muscle unlike guys...." Augh okay keep going, its all for helping her friends...."So a method to swim without expanding your energy is to let your body naturally float on the surface...like so..." She demonstrated by bring her tail up as she back paddled around. "When you lie on your back, your body is using natural floatation plus when you paddle..." She moved her arms and glided away, "Your not using that excess energy from your legs to keep you afloat."
She blinked as she righted herself, her tail dropping down. "Does...does that make sense? I hope it does..."
Then she turned to Xiu to answer her question before making a odd face. Ah...that was a good question.
"I'll try to answer to the best I can but....It's harder for me since when I dive, the water becomes my air..." She took a second...and really didn't have anything. "Okay...I will just tell you what my sister told me when I was younger, should I ever be stuck in my human body...." Amphi breathed in before smiling. "When you want to breathe underwater...or uh....dive. You need to relax, exhale and inhale breaths till you stretch your lungs? Once you do that and you feel comfortable, you take a deep breath and then dive underwater. The most I head a person holding their breath is....er....like 30 to 45 seconds? At least on Average?" She ran a hand through her long hair, "Once underwater, you try not to exhaust your energy by moving around much and uh...when you come up, you breathe all the air you have out underwater so that when you break the surface, you can a take fresh breath." Amphi face most likely looked like @_____________@ because she didn't particulary remember her sisters whole explantion of that scenario.
Its not like Amphi would ever swim without her mermaid form.
She paddled with them before flailing.
"NO WE SHOULD BE SAFE IN HERE I THINK...." She said I think only because the last time she was in here with Tybalt, they had swam to the bottom and had been met with a large.....large fish with giant teeth....."I mean were on the surface so we should be fine........"

"Oh... Oh..." She blinked at Amphi, giving her a nod of understanding before looking down at her own chest; that explained why she couldn't float very well then! She would have to inform Mac of this discovery one day, when they're out swimming. Or rather, when he's out swimming and she's out floating along, "I see, I see... Let me try..." She was learning already!
Letting go of the inner tube that she had been hanging onto, she allowed herself to float on her back. Of course, the fact that she had arm floaties on helped her feel safe too, which was one of the only reasons she so readily let the inner tube go. While she was nervous at first, Lizzy quickly realized that it really wasn't that difficult. In fact, Amphi was right about how she didn't need to expand much energy at all!
"This is... Not too bad..." She giggled softly with a sigh; it was almost nice, just floating around... It was almost relaxing enough for her to take a nap, especially on a day as lazy as this one!
"Uh, the water stings my eyes when I open them underwater for too long," She slowly flipped herself back to her original position, once again relying on the inner tube to stay above water. When Amphi started to panic a little, Lizzy let one hand go and started to gesture wildly with that free hand, "Oh! Don't worry Amphi! I'm sure that we are perfectly safe here! Don't you agree, Xiu?"

The baku was careful to take in every word, her ears pricked up as she regarded Amphi intently. If she wanted to swim--or rather, swim without drowning--then she would have to listen closely to her friend's instructions. After all, the mermaid was the the first expert swimmer she had ever met.
Bobbing up and down in the water, Xiu nodded eagerly, her expression suddenly becoming determined. "O-okay! I'm going to do it! I, uh...make sure my floaties don't float away too far, okay?" Looking anxious, she worked on inhaling and exhaling as she pulled the flotation devices off. Then, taking a deep breath, she dived down and submerged herself in the water.

A few seconds passed before the baku broke the water's surface, taking in big gulps of air as she tried to grin at her friends. Lizzy's question received a somewhat panicked nod. "Y-yes, of course! I mean, I didn't see anything down there, so..."
