One moment, Malodore had been completely prepared to live eternally in a school bathroom. The next... well, it had a vague recollection of a pumpkin flying past its head, and of stumbling outside shoved by a gnome or five, followed by a yawning Luce. Also, its head was full of stars and explosions.
Fortunately (?) the cool night air cut through the aftereffects of the emotional hangover. On one hand, this meant Malodore could think again. On the other, this meant Malodore could think about what it had done.
...
Merde.
"I, ah." It gave Riley a sheepish look. "You still have my hat, I hope?" Its feeling of utter embarrassed horror mellowed somewhat as it looked at her, though, its gaze slipping down to the silver around her wrist. No, it definitely didn't regret everything it had done that night... not by a long shot.

The moment Riley had returned to her senses, she had been shoved out of her own party by the very gnomes she had put in charge. It had been just enough time to assess her current situation, and what she came to realize made her very, very angry.
For one, someone had poisoned her first event as a student council president. For two, it seemed she'd been victim to the poisoning herself, and she had shown weakness in the face of her fellow students. She was utterly humiliated, in every sense of the word, and furthermore, there was a.. a.. there was a..
She didn't want to think about the little wiggling thing she'd packed up in a bag and slung around her shoulder, toting away with it hastily.
She was so deep, so lost in her thoughts, that Malodore's words startled her, and she stared at it for a moment, before turning to the bag.
Ah. Yes. Of course. It had been the perfect covering to hide the .. the thing in her bag, keeping it out of sight. She pulled the hat out of the bag without looking in, now that it had asked for it, and began to smooth out the edges with her fingertips. She stopped the hurried pace they had adopted to get back to the dorms and away from the madness, and turned Malodore towards her in order to settle the hat back on it's head. There. She murmured quietly, her eyes focusing on the hat, instead of the eyes in front of her. All better.
One quick flicker of her gaze fell to it's own, before she turned away, and wrapped her arm around Malodore's in order to return them to their walk. There was a great deal of guilt in her eyes, but embarrassment was the highest of emotions she rode that night.

Malodore didn't need to ask are you all right; the emotions flowed between them like a wave, mutually detectable thanks to its empathy. It put its hat back on its head, feeling a little tension flow away as the brim settled around its skull. "I meant it, you know, mia cara," it said, letting its hand slip down her arm, fingers lightly tapping at the 'feather'-bracelet there. "The, ah, the bathroom... part... not so much, but..."

Riley's steps never faltered, even as Malodore brushed against the bracelet; but the moment the gesture was made, the emotions deep within her betrayed the calm that she seemed to outwardly radiate. A wash of relief passed over her, followed by the rarest of joys bubbling up from her heart without meaning to. She stamped it down before it could get out of hand, and turned to finally look at Malodore straight forward. Her face lifted just slightly, a small, hidden expression.
Well. She sounded like the mental version of clearing her throat. I'm glad. Because I meant it, as well. Ah, very much, in fact. As she spoke, the cool night air and dark evening managed to hide the hot blush that filled her cheeks well. She tightened her grip on Malodore's arm, and turned to face the building that loomed before them.
Will you stay, tonight? Or must you return to your dorm? She opened the door and held it out for the plague doctor to enter, as she spoke. The timbre of her thoughts made it clear what option she would have preferred.

"Va bene," Malodore murmured, ducking its head, pleased. "And of course, mia cara, I would be delighted... ah, one moment." Luce had flopped down on the path behind them, and the plague doctor gently detatched itself from Riley to go scoop her up. "Oof... she's gotten so big," it murmured fondly. Indeed, the cwn pup's legs dangled, long and lanky - though her head still lolled cutely against its chest just as it had when she was little.
"There, now."

Riley continued to hold the door patiently until Malodore scooped up the pup and carried it over. Do you need some help with that? She offered, holding her arms out in case Malodore wanted to hand Luce over. I recall the conversation earlier, but I have amended my desire. If it is a choice between letting Luce stay and making you leave to bring her home, even if only for a second, I would prefer she stay. Cam has not come home for the night, so at least she will be safe with Ombra.
Riley did not want to think on what her cthulhu had gotten up to, and preferred that it was roaming anywhere outside of her dorm quarters, this particular night.

Malodore gratefully shuffled through the open doorway, heading for Riley's room. "Of course - I doubt she'll do more than sleep, tonight. And I will be most grateful for some time spent with you that is not in a bathroom... what was in that punch? Those... elephants..."
Luce roused enough to growl faintly at the mention of elephants.

DON'T. Her voice pitched high and desperate as she rose her hand up, but a quick breath had her back to her normal, mostly calm attitude. Remind me of those elephants. When I find the insolent, despicable, downright pastel b*****d who spiked my punch at my party, I will rip every tendon of their muscles out and braid them into a hammock.
She slammed the door closed behind her, and stormed forward, pulling her key out of her cleavage. The look of unbridled anger wasn't a new expression to Riley's face, it was actually rather common. She unlocked her door, swung it open, and stomped in.
It was supposed to be PERFECT! She all but screamed, her arms flinging in the air as she dropped the bag on the couch and put her key on the table. I had every minute planned out. She slumped, her expression dropping to a visible pout despite the necessary lips for it. This was going to be.. the heralding event for the new Student Council. Her eyes glittered for a moment at the memory, before it all came shattering down again. Instead it was a laughable DISASTER.

"No, mia cara - it was not. And nobody could blame you - any of you - for what some miscreant decided to do. When you locate them, do allow me to offer you anatomical assistance in finding every tendon for your project." Malodore followed her in quickly, letting Luce slide to sleep on the couch next to the bag. "It was absolutely splendid up until that point. Peerless, I dare say... so relax, amore mio." It came up behind her and wrapped its arms around her waist.

The offer was well received. Riley let out a soft sound of content, leaning back and molding her body against that of the plague doctor behind her. Mmmm. I will do so. She could not fully relax, but Malodore's presence, it's arms around her, and it's gentle, comforting touch, brought her as close to relaxed as possible.
Until she looked at the bag again.
And what, She murmured quietly, as she turned to bury her head into Malodore's neck. Are we going to do with the little thing. She refused to call it anything that would indicate it even possibly being their spawn - she was logical enough now to understand that she hadn't mingled her fear with Malodore tonight. At least, not yet. So the mystery remained as to why a - she had to admit it was a pumpkin, but that was all she would admit - why a pumpkin appeared beside them in a bathroom, of all places.

"I... am fairly sure it isn't an actual pumpkin. Not a child, ah... it is my understanding that one cannot be produced without mindful intent, as it were. Perhaps it is merely a common gourd? But we can worry about that tomorrow, mia cara." It nuzzled lightly at the side of her head, its beak nudging one pointed ear in the midst of tentacles.

Riley nodded when Malodore's assessment of the situation matched hers, but it did not solve the mystery of just what it was. She prepared to make mention of this worry when Malodore's beak caught her ear, and nuzzled into her tentacles. Her body went rigid against it, and whatever topic they had been discussing escaped her for the moment.
Okay. Thoroughly sedated, she vaguely remembered that it was saying something about worrying about it tomorrow, which was helpful, because she couldn't remember what it was they should be worried about. She melted back against the plague doctor, and thought dreadfully inappropriate thoughts while it nuzzled into her tentacles.
There was one thing she did recall. Perhaps that was only because it's actions helped remind her of it.
I promised I'd share something with you tonight, didn't I? She murmured, her voice a thick, heady tone.

The emotions curling out of Riley's mind were... familiar, but they were overlaid with something else, something Malodore couldn't entirely identify. "Ah, so you did... what would that be, mia cara? Are there reaches of your fascinating mind that I have yet to comprehend?" It had no doubt that there were, and the idea of discovering yet more about its ghouf- future mate- whatever was exciting.

Riley was startlingly open with Malodore. Perhaps this was because some bonds made hiding feelings useless. Or, perhaps she held a level of trust with the plague doctor that she had never even known existed before it had come into her life. For whatever reason, she was almost pleased to be ready to be so blunt with it.
Yes and no. There is an aspect of my culture that we have yet to truly delve into, though I've touched on it before. It's simply far more, ah, intimate than I was truly ready to discuss. And I'm comfortable with that discussion now, but it wasn't, actually..
She bent her head, pressing it's beak further into her tentacles and slowly brushing them back and forth. .. what I'd been thinking of. She paused, and chuckled. In fact, it's more of a tradition of the culture my drow body came from, rather than mine. Or, I suppose, a tradition of many cultures.
She liked thinking of this as an exploration, and Malodore's sweet and curious nature made it easier to do so.

"Intimate?" Malodore tilted its head to one side, curious. "You opened your mind to me, gave me a small view of the knowledge of your hive... what could be more intimate than that, amore mio?" It nosed lightly at the offered tentacles.
