Light filtered in through the curtains, striking the figure that lay huddled under her covers. Kathryn squinted as the light seemingly intensified exponentially. Rolling over with a groan the girl gave a loud sniffle. Seemingly her night out observing the meteor shower had left her vulnerable to the seasonal round of the flu. Everything in her body ached. Gently coaxing the covers back she ran her left hand up to her forehead and gently placed it against the skin. The heat that radiated back alarmed Kat for a moment. Rationality soon set in. Sitting up slowly she cast her gaze around the room. She let herself take in the time on her alarm clock before she swiped the button to turn off the alarm. With how she was feeling it was unlikely that she was going to get up and do anything today.
The only thing to do right now was to try and rest and fight whatever she was sick with. Now awake and aware Kat fought a familiar sensation before rushing from her room and into the bathroom. Minutes later the girl rested her head against the toilet seat lid and groaned softly. Her throat burned as there had been nothing in her stomach since the night before and only bile had come up. Rising very carefully from her seated position Kat padded softly into the kitchen and grabbed a glass before taking it back into the bathroom. She filled it with water and took a few sips before swilling the water around in her mouth and spitting it back out. She took her toothbrush out of its holder and gave her teeth a quick brushing. That chore done Kathryn dumped her glass into the sink and opened the fridge.
The contents didn't look too promising but there was a container of apple juice. Taking a plastic water bottle Kathryn mixed together half amounts of water and apple juice before slowly making her way back to the warmth of her bed. An empty bucket stood sentinel as she sipped at the diluted juice. For now she'd take it easy and try to not get dehydrated. It seemed like it would be a long day doing almost absolutely nothing today except trying to stay as functional as she could. Kat tucked herself back in and fluffed her pillows before letting her head fall back against them.
Briefly her mind went back to the night previous. The awe of the meteor shower and then the excitement as the meteorite struck beyond the clearing had made for a rather restless night. She had stayed behind afterwards in an attempt to locate any of the missing money that she had accidentally dropped. It hadn't gone so well but according to the tally sheet she had kept it didn't look like too much money had been lost. She gave a rather long sigh before she closed her eyes in an attempt to rest; so much for the day's plans. It looked as if her day was going to be spent at home.
