It was amazing a bit of clarity did when passions weren't suddenly running hot and wild within his bloodstream. To where he felt he could look at Lark without feeling as if he was suddenly burning up inside.
With this clarity came the fears that he had expressed to Freya on the day he'd come to visit her and tell her the 'good news' of what had occurred between himself and Lark but now it came back on him tenfold and he felt as if his heart was seizing up. He'd sent Endy out to hunt as he stood at his door with his eyephone out.
To Freya he sent a simple text. Eyephone Text I'm gonna have a talk with Lark. Gonna tell her what happened, too. You get a 30 second head start. Then he tucked his phone away quietly and then went over toward Lark's door and hesitated a little bit. If he didn't go to Lark then she'd certainly come to him maybe even hunt him down if he decided to hide and ride things out.
It was best to just face the music.
Kettil knocked on the door of Lark's room and just waited.

"Coming!~"
Ever since the day she'd spent in Kettil's room, Lark had been busy. Very busy. So busy that she'd only had time to sleep, and even then it had been a fitful rest. Of course, it wouldn't show on Lark's face when she opened the door. All that Kettil would be able to see would be the kitchen behind the ghoul that stared up at him with bright eyes -- and each and every surface therein absolutely covered in baked goods.
Spookies. Cakes, cupcakes. A few pies.
"Kettil!" She smiled at him shyly, though part of her wasn't exactly sure that she was ready to handle what this visit meant. Lark just knew that he was going to want to talk.
Ugh.
"I was wonderin' when I was gonna see y'again."

Did he just hear a crash from somewhere? Maybe even a flap of large wings?
Kettil wasn't prepared for Freya to take his message so ... literally and thus when Lark suddenly came to the door he startled out of surprised daze and then stared down at Lark and then looked into her room behind her and...
"Holy Jack, Lar, you havin' a bakesale all by your onesomes?" He tilted his head as he leaned down and gave Lark an affectionate kiss on the forehead offering a small smile. "You ready for some of my company for today?"
Please let this go well. Please. Please. Please.

Lark almost swooned into that sweet kiss that Kettil planted onto her forehead. Almost. She caught herself at the last moment, ushering him in before closing the door behind him with a soft click. The butterflies were at it again in her stomach, beating around with leaded wings. She was so nervous, but Kettil didn't seem to be acting horridly worked up and so Lark was reluctant to make things awkward. Well, more awkward.
"S'hopin' you'd stop by. If y'didn't I was gonna come over."
She cleared her throat.
"Figgered we got some things t'talk about." Ugh. UGH.
"Y'hungry?" I am. For all of the kisses.
"Got pies n' spookies n' cakes..." Just Jackin' kiss me.
"Got drinks too." I'm thirsty... for kisses.

He was ushered in easily enough as he glanced around the room looking over at all the things she had baked so far with some amusement - mostly nervous amusement. Kettil nodded his head slightly toward Lark as she spoke, "I figured it was a good idea to just come see you instead of waiting to see how long you could stay away," he teased softly.
"Not super hungry at the moment," because his gut felt like it was on fire from the nerves.
"But a drink of water might be nice," he said smiling at her quietly.
Did he want to kiss her? Yes.
Would he kiss her? He had plans to.
The way she looked at him was heartbreaking because he was already foreseeing her tearing him open with a butcher knife while screaming in pure rage. The most awesome way to see one's mate. Truly.
If their little chat went well then she'd have all the kisses forever.
Kettil glanced around a bit before deciding to sit at one of the seats at the kitchen table, "C'mon. We should clear things up before we do much else..." It was better this way, right? In all good consciousness he couldn't bring himself to kiss Lark after knowing that he'd kissed Freya without telling her about it first - that was just how he rolled.

Lark fluttered into the kitchen like a nervous little bird, intent on retrieving a glass of water for her boilfriend before settling down across from him at the table. She just wanted to do all of the things for Kettil. Cook for him, tend to his hair, wash his clothes - everything that Lark suspected a good ghoulfriend did. After all, this was what she'd wanted, right? They'd yet to speak much on the whole 'love' word yet, but there would be time for that.
After the kissing. So much kissing.
She'd thought about how this was going to go, this meeting right here, and Lark refused to let things get awkward. When she'd returned home from the visit where they'd kissed on his bed, she felt strange. Awkward and worried - but here and now?
Not so much. Really, she just wanted to get to the kissing. In order to get to the kissing, they would have to get through the talking.
"Awright, then." She rocked back in her seat, crossed her arms over her chest and narrowed her eyes. "Y'said y'were m'boil n'I'ma be yer ghoul. Boilfrien' n' ghoulfrien'. "
Talking over. Nothing more to discuss.
"Y'gonna kiss me now?"

Kettil smiled softly at her and nodded a bit, "That's squared away then. I didn't have any intention of backin' out on that." Truly, he didn't. Especially now that he realized that Lark and he had something special between them at her question, however, he froze a little on the inside.
Oh he wanted to kiss her. He just wanted to dive across the table and just hold her and never let go and just shower her in all of the adoration he possessed in his body but there was still a lingering issue. There was something he needed to tell her in all seriousness.
"Before we kiss I got somethin' I wanna tell you, okay? An' I want you to hear me out. I don't want you gettin' all upset cause in the end I..." Kettil paused. He wanted to say he loved her and on one level - as his best friend he truly did but now he needed to learn to love her as something more and ... He was still getting to that aspect.
"I really, really care about you," he said softly and meaningfully. Hoping that the fact that he would feel devastated at her leaving him would come across in these words.

Lark's eyes warmed as Kettil continued speaking. Of course, she was entirely too busy staring at his lips. Teenage hormones at their worst, true enough, but there wasn't anything Lark could do to stop the train of thoughts. It wasn't until he spoke those last few words with such meaning that Lark blinked rapidly, eyes darting up to meet his.
"I really care 'bout you too, Kettil," she murmured softly, head tilting to the side. Suddenly there was a niggling prod of worry that rumbled through her body. What in Jack's name did he have to tell her? He looked so serious, she abruptly realized. It wasn't like he was going to break up with her, right? He'd even said he wasn't going to back out on her. And while she still had doubts that they'd done the right thing, the emotion that Kettil was conveying with his eyes and with his voice... Lark knew that he wasn't regretting the time they'd spent together.
"Y'gonna say it? M'listenin'." Now she was feeling a little anxious. What was he going to say?

Oh Jack. Here it was. Here it goes.
"I went to go visit with Freya after you left cause...I wanted to tell her what happened," he said quietly, "and it was innocent enough we weren't doin' nothin' horrible but...we kissed I dunno why it happened but it did. It wasn't like a super long kiss or nothin' and...I felt nothin' from it...Not like when I kissed you. When I kissed Freya it was like...Kissin' a family member." His insides felt oddly chilled, cold from fright of how she'd react.
He took a deep breath hoping she wouldn't interrupt, "I want....I want you, Lark. Not Freya. Okay? So please if you're angry beat the s**t out of me but please forgive me cause it'll never happen again." Kettil was finally breaking down as his eyes were pleading, worried, sad.
Kettil wouldn't be surprised if she didn't let him kiss her for a long, long time.

The soft and gentle look on her face froze. It slowly eased from her eyes, replaced with a look of pure and utter hurt. The type of hurt that caused an ache in her chest, the type of hurt that made her vision blurry with tears and set her ears to ringing incessantly.
"...what?!"
The word was barely choked out. Only his words kept her from freaking the <********> out. Everything about her screamed for him to stay away, to give her a little space so that she could compose herself. If he moved to approach her, she wasn't sure what she would do - but it wouldn't end prettily.
"Why would y'do this t'me, Kajika?" Her voice held nothing but a sad cadence that was mirrored in the drop of her shoulders, the curve of her back as she buried her face in her hands. "What if kissin' Freya was better'n kissin' me? What would y've done then?"
She didn't even want to think about it.

The look on her face shattered him on the inside and the choked out word made him flinch his dark eyes turning for the moment down toward the table. He didn't feel worthy of touching her and so he didn't even move toward her. He stayed still he let her get out her words his fingertips. He felt cold on the inside, like stone.
Especially when she uttered his name in sadness.
"Lar, I can't answer that because that...isn't what happened. Everythin' was weird last week and I don' really have an excuse for what happened...None at all. I ain't even gonna try to. I know I did bad by you doin' that and I'll do anythin' to make it up to you. Anything I gotta do I will." He said quietly his eyes flicking up to look at her as hard as it was. He hoped it was nothing like telling him to stay away from Freya because he was honest about it not happening again.
Kettil hands clenched into fists for a moment, "I prolly shoulda waited until I felt more ... normal to see Freya and tell her... I was so happy..."

Lark almost felt like she might vomit. Everything had seemed so perfect when she'd seen him last, and all the anxiety and reservations she'd had about their relationship had dissipated almost entirely. She'd convinced herself that they hadn't moved too fast, they hadn't made a mistake. Despite still feeling convinced that they hadn't made any bad decisions... it hurt. It really, really hurt.
It was something that Lark didn't know how to handle. An emotion that she couldn't convey.
"I... if I tol'ja t'stay away from Freya, would you?" Her expression was unreadable. Was she serious? It was impossible to tell.

He froze a little bit at the question his expression became blank and unreadable for a second or so before he carefully picked his words, "I don't think that is right, Lar. She's my friend, she's not the ghoul I want to be with," he said softly his fingertips felt numb as he pressed them together as if to try and get the feeling back into them but to no avail.
"I...Wouldn't expect you to stop seein' a boil after y'kissed him," he said softly with a bit of an edge to his voice but it was unable to be helped, "but if ya told me it would never happen again...I'd trust you because you would know how much that'd hurt me."

Lark narrowed her eyes at Kettil. It wasn't ...the wrong answer, it just wasn't the one that Lark wanted to hear. The irrational side of her wanted to sock Kettil in the face before she went after Freya with bloodlust coursing through her veins, but she knew that he was trying to do the right thing here. The fact that he'd even come to her with every honest intention made Lark's temper lessen a few degrees.
Just a few.
Lark rose to her feet and paced a few steps, slender arms crossed over her chest. This really sucked. She wanted to be mad, she wanted to make him suffer, but that was the hurt talking. Lark was rational enough to understand that, even if the words she spoke next were anything but rational.
"I ain't never kissed another boil, Kajika. Only boil I ever kissed was you." She stopped pacing and leaned against one of the counters, bracing her weight on her arms. "I ain't even ever want to kiss another boil." Maybe that's what hurt the most. There had only ever been Kettil. She swung her gaze around to meet his. The pain was evident in her eyes.
"I ain't gonna tell y'ta not see Freya never again. I ain't that kind'a ghoul. But I am gonna say this one thing, Kajika. This one thing, n'I'm only gonna say it this one time." Her voice was soft, laced with emotion. Pain, sadness, upset, rage. They were all there.
"No second chances here, far as Freya goes. I ain't gonna stand fer it. Yer mine now - not hers - and if I ever find out 'bout y'kissin' on her again, Kajika... if y'break this trust I'm givin' you... I can't keep doin' it. Much as I lo -- care 'bout you... y'know I deserve better, yeah?"
