Having left one home in search of another, Hinoko had finally found success. This pride had been one he'd caught wind of while out on his travels, and it sounded as though they valued all of the the things he did. Strength and honor, most importantly. He'd been raised to value these things, and in his adult life all he wanted was to live the rest of his days honoring these beliefs. Drawing closer to the definite scent of a nearby male, Hinoko prepared himself mentally for a brief moment before throwing back his head in a mighty, mighty roar. He hoped it would be answered so that the fight could begin.

Udayagiri was forced to do his roles of Reaver today. Lately the big male had taken to just lounging about, eating and sleeping. He'd put on a bit of weight because of it. Today, however, a certain warlord had basically yelled at him until he agreed to go to the outskirts of the pride and accept challenges. He hadn't been in a scuffle for a long time, so he figured why even put that much energy into it. He was rusty, no doubt, because of how lazy he was. Still, living here meant he had to do this every once in a while. Who knew? Maybe he could get enough energy to do a couple of challenges in a row and lose some of his weight.
Just as he got to the outskirts, he heard a roar of challenge. Perfect. Why waste time, right? Frowning, the violet eyed male wandered in the direction of the roar and let out his own thunderous one.

Excellent. A delicious shiver of anticipation rippled down Hinoko's spine. His opponent was close, which rattled the young lion. How had the white-maned male been able to get this close without Hinoko spotting him? Ah, well, it didn't matter at this point. Hinoko drew up to the other male and without speaking moved to lash out. This was thrilling. This was how a pride should be run; interlopers should have to prove themselves, and Hinoko loved it.
Some of his excitement faltered when he failed to land a blow. With a disgruntled snarl, Hinoko backed off and waited for the male to strike.

He started to circle his opponent, who, in all honestly, looked better suited for that fire pride he could never remember the name of. His violet eyes looked the younger male from head to toe, head to tail as well as he circled him. There.
Uda moved as the younger male lunged forward and then smirked when the blow didn't land. Rusty he might be, but nerves seemed to get the better of the younger fellow. Circling again, he watched the male carefully before he charged head on, hoping to knock the male back as well as startle him enough to make the male be aware of his situation. His acceptance into the pride rested on Uda's big shoulders.
If the charge landed, he hoped his shoulder would dig into the male's ribs, bruising him enough that the rest of the challenge would be a piece of cake.

Hinoko loved the fact that no words had been spoken. This was not the time for idle chit-chat. No, this was Hinoko's chance to shine, and he was not going to let it idly slip through his paws.
When the Stormborn male charged, Hinoko moved out of the way. Not fast enough as the brunt of the blow caught him across the flanks; this, in turn, threw the bulky lion off-balance, which Hinoko struggled to correct.
Skidding across the earth, Hinoko bared his teeth at the male. Unsheathing his claws, Hinoko tore towards the other lion, intent on slamming his body into that of the other lion just as it had been done to himself.

Uda watched as the male skid across the earth, kicking up dust. It was impressive how much of it was kicked up from this massive male. However, Uda was no pushover either. He saw Hino charging toward him and attempted to move out of the way. Hinoko was fast, however, and the red male caught him in the flanks.
Crying out as he toppled over and skidded himself, the brown lion stayed down longer than Hino had. His head was spinning and he was winded already, further proof he was too fat for his own liking and had been way too lazy. Finally getting to his paws and shaking out the dust, he thought of a different strategy.
He would charge until he was jumping distance away and did so. He leaped with his back legs and had his claws unsheathed, aiming to get on the male's back and really dig into his flesh.

Unfortunately for Hinoko, the other male was deceptively powerful. Really, the lion had first appeared to be a worthless lump of flab and fat - Hinoko hadn't been impressed, and perhaps that had caused him to be a little lax in his defense. As it was, the blood-red lion was able to move at the last moment, though unsheathed claws nipped here and there as he pulled away from the Stormborn.
Hissing violently, Hinoko lifted a paw and swung in a harsh backhanded motion. If his attack struck true he would undoubtedly send the Stormborn lion flying. If his attack missed, well, he was more than ready to chase after his first paw with his second. One way or another, Hinoko was now more determined than ever to win his place in this pride.
