As some of you already know from a different thread, I've been inquiring about getting a husky. I've found a breeder and a dog and will be picking her up in Oklahoma City this Saturday at a dog show. She is a three year old silver and white named "CC".
Her regestered name is: Badgerden's look who's laughing now

I'll be driving out to OKC this weekend, leaving at 6:30 in the morning with a friend to pick her up and bring her home! ^_^ I'll post pics as soon as I can, probably by Sunday. 3nodding

Well, actually Sibes aren't much like wolves at all. They're shorter in the leg, generally shorter in the coat and a bit thicker. They're more foxy than anything, and the coat pattern is certainly not to be found in wolves. (A Sibe's or a Malamute's coat coloring is sort of a monochromatic version of the amazingly subtle and varied hues to be found on wolves.) That's not even going into the huge difference between the heads, especially the muzzle and the ears, and of course very, very few wolves have blue eyes. Most wolves have light green or yellow eyes.

sry I haven't updated, and soooo sry I haven't posted pics yet, but my digital camera is being difficult.....*sigh*.
But I shall post them soon! Well anyways, Its been two weeks since we brought her home and she's been adjusting quite nicely to our lifestyle. Her breeder said that she wasn't too fond of her first name ("CC") So I changed it to a name that meant something to me, Matsi. This was the name I was going to the corgi puppy I was suppose to get, but as some of you know, that didn't work out. The name means "Sweet and Brave" in a Native American language, which I can't tell you the name of for fear of butchering the tribe's name in trying to spell it....... sweatdrop
But yes, she is adjusting nicely to those of you that are interested, and I've also been training her for the past two weeks to begin competing in the conformation show ring. Her first show is in Clairemore, OK the first weekend in April, and I'll tell you all how she does. Until then I will be fiddling with my camera trying to figure out how to load my pictures of her on to the computer.

Actually, I do have one ok pic of her. Its of her breeder (Michelle Badger), her daughter, Matsi (the silver one) and her sister Ebbie (the black one), and two of her Finnish Spitz. Its just a cute pic that was on Michelle's website.

How lovely! So you got an older dog, then? She can't be younger than six months.

nope, she's not a puppy, but I love her just the same. She's about nine months actually (that picture is kind of old), but she is still small for her age, I need to put about five pounds on her.

Personally, I rather prefer adopting older dogs. Puppies are wonderful, but I like having the option of acquiring a dog that already has some basic manners (like being housebroken).

I've gotten into the habit of looking at the way an animal is built and looking for differences in conformation, which is probably why it's obvious to me. Wolves are lovely, but they don't really look like any dog breed to me except for possibly Saarloos Wolfhounds or Czech Wolfdogs (both attempts to improve dog stock by crossing wolves and Shepherds; both were highly unsuccessful but persist as breeds, albeit ones that are not for an inexperienced dog owner).

Blue eyes in wolves are actually very rare. I really don't know where you'd see mostly blue eyes; are you looking at photos or drawings of wolves? Artistic license is sometimes taken.

Yes it's intresting to read. I focus more on personality rather than the build of a creature
I can see what you mean by those 2 breeds, beautiful, and they do have wolf like qualitys

Perhaps i am mistaken. I do look at a lot of art, so i guess i have focused more on that
I looked on goole and see you are correct. The wolves have yellow/amber eyes. I guess i really was just thinking of huskies or artists impressions
Sorry, thanks for the information smile

I focus on personality too, and wolves are very different from all species of dog in that regard as well. They are not like Sibes in personality. Wolves are very shy, have a much earlier socialization period, are much more reserved, and much less amenable to humans than Sibes are. They are also far less vocal and are far more able to create effective social bonds than Sibes are (all dogs depend to a great extent on humans to provide social structure).
