She had been doing this whole…Page thing for a few weeks now, and it was slowly starting to become easier. She wasn’t always so afraid of the youma’s any longer, and had learned that improvisation was really the key to beating them, since her powder puff was always right there next to useless against the creatures. She found that her shoes worked pretty well, and sticks or snowballs…or rocks, even.

Tonight she was on patrol, taking nice, slow even steps, not wanting to slip on the slick and icy streets. She felt two little tingles nearby, one good, and one not so good. She wondered which one to go to first…get backup from the allied energy signature, or go hurry up and face the youma and get rid of it before it could hurt anyone…

After a moment’s deliberation, Caelian took off, moving swiftly towards the other good feeling energy, hoping it was someone who was equipped with an easier way to dust youmas…she was running out of creative ideas and just wanted an easy fight tonight.

While Caelian may have been taking it at a nice, calm, leisurely stroll ...

PEKLO WAS RUNNING FOR HER ******** LIFE.

Behind her streaming braids was a youma that looked somewhat like the Cerberus from mythology, but it was smaller, and uglier. Slobber was dripping from its mouth by the buckets, and while its fur was jet black, its paws were bright red. Definitely youma.

"SOMEBODY HEEEEEEEEEEEELP," she squealed, tripping over her own feet. Gosh this was such a bad situation. Normally she LOVED animals. Animals were much kinder than people, and she loved all of them.

This was a very bad doggy though. Peklo turned a corner and the dog-youma knocked over a trashcan. As if someone would actually care, Peklo shouted, "I-I'MREALLYSORRYHEDIDN'TM-M-M-MEANTO!" Peklo. The only knight that would apologize for a youma.

Caelian was still moving closer, when she heard the first squeal from Peklo. Instantly she sped up, felling both energy signatures moving closer to her. Well…at least she would see them soon, and…would be able to help?

She looked around, assessing the area that she was in, seeing a fallen branch. Well, that would do for something…hopefully this youma wasn’t a terrible one, so long as it was manageable, she shouldn’t have too much trouble destroying it…and it always worked faster with someone else helping.

The page picked up the stick, eyes narrowing down the street, hoping she would see the youma and the other powered person soon, she was ready, she wanted to get rid of the thing, and make sure it couldn’t ever hurt anyone or anything again.

To make matters even worse, as soon as Peklo rounded the final corner, she barreled forward as fast as she could.

Right. Into. Caelian.

"OhmygoshI'msososososososossossorryyyyyyyyy," came her wails, even though the youma was easily only a few feet away. Her glasses had been knocked aside in the crash. She rolled off the other knight and started feeling the ground in a very Velma-esque way. "My glasses!" she moaned, "I can't see without m-m-my glasses!"

To say that Caelian had been completely ready, was a complete and total lie. When Peklo ran into her, she dropped her stick and very nearly tumbled to the ground as well. Though…giving the youma, one look, she yelped, then glanced to the ground, picking up both the stick, and the young girl’s glasses. “Here, here are your glasses, hurry, get up. We have to fight this thing now.”

She tried very hard not to let her fear show, but…this was a very big dog. Of all the animals in the world, Cats and dogs were the absolute worst in Caelian’s mind. Cats made her so very sick, and dogs..well…dogs just liked ripping people’s throats out.

She held onto her stick tightly and kept looking between the other page and the youma, hoping that this girl wasn’t really as scared as she seemed to be.

"F-F-Fight? Oh no miss," she said, shaking both her head and hands, "I ... I could never fight!" She was partially saying this because she really DIDN'T want to hurt the doggy, but another part of her was just terrified of fighting. Peklo was NOT the ideal soldier.

She grabbed her glasses out of the girl's hands and put them on, giving her a much clearer view of the youma.

It was ten times scarier than the first time she looked at it. "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE," she shouted, hiding behind Caelian. "S-S-SCARE IT OFF!"

Caelian looked at the girl, confused. “No, we..we can’t scare it off…it will go and hurt someone if we do that. Come on, what’s your name? I’m Caelian…we have to fight this thing and make sure it can’t ever hurt anyone again, all right?”

She held the stick tightly, and her powder puff tightly in the other hand. Maybe if she went for the creatures eyes…then kicked it…

Some sort of a battle plan was forming in the woman’s head, and she gave a little grin, going towards the best, jabbing the stick at it, and moving her powder puff covered fist to the other side, hoping to box its ear and jab its eye. A good plan, but who knew what the execution of it would bring.

"P-Peklo! My name is Peklo!" she squeaked, still staying back from the fight. She looked at her fur swatch. This thing was completely useless! Still, petting it somehow calmed her down a bit. That was a plus.

As the other girl punched and jabbed at the dog youma, Peklo couldn't help but let out a little squeal of pain. She couldn't just watched the dog get beat up!

The youma, on the other hand, was smarter than it looked. It ducked its head just as Caelian swung, leaving her hitting air. It backed up a few steps, then leapt out of the way.

Peklo on the other hand, was busy waving her arms to get the girl's attention. "Ohhhh please be c-c-careful!" she said, "Dog's noses are very s-sensitive!" Oh gosh. Oh gooooosh. Don't let the doggy be hurt O ^O

Ah. Well…sensitive noses…She glanced down at her powder puff, remembering when she had gotten Remarque in the face with it, making him sneeze…perhaps the small bit of powder would get the dog sneezing too.

Her first strike had missed, but with this information. “Thank you, Peklo! That was very helpful!” Caelian moved quickly after the dog, this time using the stick first, bringing it down sharply against the dog’s ear, then shoving her powder puff right into its nose, hoping and praying to whatever was out there that this would work…sure, the other Page had some advice…but so far as helping to beat the monster…

She seemed pretty useless.

Useless was Peklo's middle name.

You know. If knights had middle names.

The youma recoiled from Caelian's attacks, giving a loud shriek followed by softer (but still loud) whimpers. Its nose was dusted with powder, and it kept shaking its head trying to get it off.

Peklo's heart just about broke. She knew it was evil. She knew it was going to hurt people. But that poor puppy's little facey wacey p-

Suddenly the youma was bounding over to Peklo, clearly knowing how to choose its fights. It was moving sort of strangely thanks to its nose impediment, but still knew Peklo from Caelian. "Oh n-nice youma, p-please stay back." The youma had other ideas. It began biting at her braids, and even Peklo couldn't stand that. She tried kicking with her legs, but it really wasn't working well.

On the plus side, Caelian now had a very nice shot.

Caelian was quite happy to watch the youma freak out over the powder, and was absolutely delighted when it ran to Peklo. If you weren’t going to help in the fight, then be a good distraction.

She drew the stick up, sneaking up quietly behind the dog, and drawing in a breath before plunging the stick between the dog’s shoulders, with as much force as she could muster, hoping that she could get the thing in and that would be enough to dust it. If not…

Her foot came up, as well, kicking at the creatures underbelly. “I won’t allow you to harm anyone else you awful monster!”

Peklo squealed almost in synchronization with the dog youma. The dog let out a yelp and attempted to turn and face Caelian, but it was kicked in the stomach (or ... what would've been a stomach if it wasn't hellish and oddly proportioned), and halted.

The thing wasn't dusted though- not yet. Peklo saw the dog turn on Caelian and gave a squeak. Her knight ally, or the poor puppy.

The choice was obvious to most people, but Peklo had a hard time. She didn't like hurting things- especially not animals. She was a very nature-friendly person, and was probably as pacifist as the spectrum went.

Still, she knew she couldn't let the knight perish over an evil creature. With whatever bravery she had in her, she ran up and punched the dog in the side very lightly. Seriously. It was barely a slap.

That little slap apparently did the trick though. The dog youma began to corrode into dust, and was eventually nothing. While most would be hooting over their victory, Layton was just standing there with a horrible frown on her face.

Caelian let out a sigh of relief, glad that they had gotten rid of the monster. She looked at Peklo and shook her head sadly. “It wasn’t a dog, you have to remember that. It was a monster…something bad that would have hurt a great many people…It had to be done…”

Why was the girl so at odds with this? Did she thing that the youmas did have good in them? Was that possible? She made a mental note to ask Camelot or Shalott that the next time she saw either of them. If the youmas were just…misguided, then why wouldn’t anyone have told her that?

She shook her head then gave a small smile. “Thank you, for saving me, Peklo.” She really didn’t want to upset the girl anymore than she already appeared to be…but she was at a loss for what to say.

For a moment or two, Peklo didn't even noticed that Caelian was saying something. She was far too concerned with the poor youma puppy and how it didn't even get a chance to be good. She wished there was a way of saving all the poor youma animals.

"O-Oh!" Peklo squeaked, startled out of her thought by Caelian's comment, "N-N-No!! Thank you for s-saving me! I didn't do anything, th-that was all you!"

She'd never take credit in a fight if she could help it.

Peklo stared at the ground, adjusting her glasses. She didn't really know what to say after that. She'd never been very good at making friends, considering she was always second guessing herself, and being a senshi had pretty much forced her into making friends.

At least she was trying. No one could knock her down for trying. Very quietly, at a near whisper, she said, "M-My name's Peklo."

Caelian gave a little sigh, nodding. “You’ve told me, and I’m Caelian, as I’ve said…” The girl seemed very jumpy. “Maybe you should head home now…get some rest…we did do a lot of good tonight, Peklo…remember, that creature…it wasn’t a real dog…honestly it wasn’t.”

She was speaking rather softly, feeling just slightly foolish at doing so. This girl couldn’t be that young, maybe fourteen or fifteen…but…still. She had to be a bit more cautious and willing to fight…or she would end up a casualty of the war.

“You really should start taking better care, Peklo…I don’t think I’ll always manage to be here to help you out, but I sure will try to, okay? Now…Go home and get yourself safe, won’t you? I don’t want to hear that you’ve…gotten eaten by an evil youma lion or something.” She smiled then sighed.

It was time for her to get home and get back to her daughter. Patroling did leave the girl alone, but…the alarm system was fully armed, and she never went very far from home. It was a situation that she had prepared for rather well, at the very least. “It was nice to meet you Peklo, honestly it was, and I hope we meet up again, okay? Take care now.”
