Sova was still in her shlip uniform as she headed down the street, in no real hurry to get home right away. She had, however, slipped out of her heels and pulled on her boots on, not caring how odd she might look in her stiff dress with clunky hiking boots. She held her black heels in one hand and clutched her books to her chest in the other.
It was a nice day, but she was having trouble observing that thanks to how utterly tired she was. Her head felt foggy and she had to constantly rub her eyes to relieve a bit of the burn. She hadn't been sleeping as well as usual, and even usual was unhealthy. She needed a nap or something, before she passed out on the street. She couldn't even really concentrate on where she was going, so it was probably a good thing she didn't have anywhere important to be.

Grant had recently been introduced to the astounding combination of movement and music. He had learned that if one wore the headphones to their MP3 player, they could then go out and bring their music with them. Not a profound discovery, as many kids did just this, but the young man also realized that skating on his Heelies while listening to the music was, perhaps, the greatest thing ever.
It was incredible.
Clearly a fan of the simple things in life, Grant took to this new discovery like a fish to water, and put in his earphones after class to get himself home in style. Scooting along on his wheeled shoes, which were not as smooth or fast as a pair of roller blades might be and certainly not as convenient or easy as plain shoes were, he hummed to himself as he let himself glide through the afternoon.
He had not considered all the possible downsides of musical heelie action, however. Like how distracting it could be, especially in his enthusiasm. So, in a sudden moment, he found his humming, which was too loud anyway, suddenly cut off as he crashed into someone quite hard, spilling them both to the floor in a tangle of limbs and earbud cords.
