User Image Tide yawned hugely and turned his head to see his mare curled by his side. He amused himself by blowing gently on her face to wake her up slowly. He could hear their two, mature, fully grown....adult children scwabbling like yearlings in the distance. He could only pick up bits and pieces of the argument but what he could hear was scalding his ears and he pricked them forward. "....clutz!" "You two faced critter!." "Seriously you pest......"
Tide raised an eyebrow.. "Nothing like the smell of rivalry in the morning." He nuzzled his just waking Kainda.. she did fit just right beside him. A point he was happy to point out to himself ever single morning. Usually with the children's coroused accompaniement of insults, jabs and complaints.

He wondered how long it would take for them to find their own mates and stop arguing with each other. He couldn't wait.. However he would have to
watch Tempest's suitors...for unless she managed to find a blind male, what were the chances of that happening, the others may want to just use her and leave her.. WELL not as long as Tide was still STANDING they wouldn't. Kai he was less worried about, he knew that Kainda would most likely haze any that she didn't find worthy of him.

User ImageThe said mare was indeed curled beside her mate as she slept peacefully. After becoming a full time mother, Kainda lavished in her sleeping and down times she had. Tide was extremely helpful when they were younger. It seems their high strung spirits were still the same even as adults. Kainda gave a snort raising her head sleepily and in a glare. It was from behind her love that the mother bellowed, "If the two of you won't keep it down both of you will be ever SO sorry I bore you!" All seemed quiet after that with the occasional grunt and snort and harsh whisper.

Kainda loved her children unconditionally, but the hellions often exhausted her. She leaned against her mate with a sigh nibbling on his neck. "Are you undoubtedly positive you want more?" The mare chuckled licking his cheek in greeting.

Tide shivered as she nibbled his neck. "Preferably a little quieter but yes more." he smiled at her. "You can't say raising the brats wasn't fun....most of the time, sometimes, a little."

"We heard that!" came a call from a short ways away.

Tide grinned evilly. "It's true!" he called to them. "Anyway, yes I think it would be nice to have more children." He kissed her, "Come now, we are late for morning battle practice." He stood ruefully, Kainda was so nice and warm he was loathe to leave her. Tide waited until she was ready and then together they walked to the practice clearing, only to find their spawn all ragged maned with fur floating quietly down to the ground.
"Honestly you two can't keep a lid on it and let the fur grow back for one morning?"
Tempest may be blind but Kai talked so much she never had any problem finding him. As was evident by his disheveled appearance.

The mare gave a song of laughter leaning against Dark Tide. His skin was warm and the beat of his heart wanted to lull her back to sleep. The day seemed perfect, and she'd rather not get up. Her ears perked toward the voice from her son and she couldn't help but snort. "It was fun...at least I think our tempers being pushed was hilarity for them."

"Definitely not, Ma!" Another voice came from out of the blue.

Kainda sneezed a little glaring out toward the distance. She couldn't have any quiet nor could she have any time with her mate unless the children were listening. Oh hells. Why wouldn't they go off and find themselves trouble or other azrein to play with? If she were lucky, at least one of them would find a mate which would force the other to get a life. If only she were to be so lucky. Her thoughts were interrupted by Tide as he nudged her. "I'm sure we could always skip a day..." The mare gave a grunt as she rose to her feet carefully stretching her legs, neck, and body walking around Tide as she did so. As they came toward the field, she quirked an eyebrow at her spawn. "It seemed they beat us to the practice..." The mare chuckled trotting on ahead to look over her children. Kai wasn't the worse for the wear, but Tempest had a small cut on her shoulder and a longer one on her back. It seemed as though she was getting sloppy with her brother. He did after all get the horn.

Kainda snorted as she nipped and chided her children for being so rough with each other. "As much as you two fight, you need always remember that you both are kin. You are all each other has if your father and I aren't around. Both of you need to learn to love each other. I shouldn't be telling you this. You guys are adults now." The orange striped mare gave affections to both her children before sending them off, the duo begrudgingly agreeing to stop fighting for the day and at least try to get along. She then looked toward her mate with a sigh. "You damn sure you want more?" Kainda gave him a teasing glance coming back up toward him, her nose stretched out so that when she reached him, she could rub her nose against his in a teasing kiss.

Kainda loved her family and wouldn't trade in any of it for the world. Even the annoying parts.

Tide nibbled at Kainda's luscious blue mane. He would be nothing without his family and he shuddered at the thought of ever loosing them. They were his life he revolved around them.

He stared his Lifemate in the eye. " I Dark Tide am damn sure I would like more children." He chuckled. "Do you want it in writing love?" He blew a chunk of dark fur that had settled on her hide of. "I hope the wind doesn't pick up love or we will be in a fur tornado."

Tide got a twinkle in his eye.. he stepped alittle closer to his mate. "TAG YOUR IT." he poked her butt with his nose and took off as fast as his legs would take him.

Kai was hiding in the bushes and shook his head at his parents antics. He grunted and slunk off to find something interesting to do. He decided not to crash his parents party... if that was indeed what this was.

Tide's mane was flying out behind him and his heart beat with the thunder of his steps this was living. Running with your mate, there could be nothing more fulfilling. Then he made the mistake of looking behind himself to see if his mate was following. That was when it all went south and he tripped on an obstinant root that was actually quite well fixed in the ground. Soon we was tumbling head over tea kettle. It was lucky for him that his son was no longer watching.

The mare chuckled as he made is commitment to what he wanted. She couldn't help but sigh though. Kainda had just worked off the last of the baby fat from when she was pregnant though it wasn't that difficult since the kids kept her busy, but dammit it all she worked hard on her figure! She simply nudged her mate's neck giving a small little grunt. "Fiiiine." The mare gave a low groan turning her head to look at her figure only to zero on on a patch of black hair that Tide so lovingly disposed of. Her daughter would be in patches tonight again. "Well love I seriously doubt you ca--hey!" She jumped a little as he nipped her in a playful motion of tag. Oh the b*****d had it coming now!

With a glint of mischief in her own eye, the mare ran off after her mate, her own hair streaming behind her much like a banner. She gave a bit of a smug grin as she was catching up to her mate. But he made the job easier for her as he tripped and started rolling. As much as she was laughing, Kainda always had a bit of worried tones when it came to her mate. He was so clumsy and half the time he would hurt himself...Kainda slowed to a trot as she came to where Tide finally stopped rolling. The mare went toward the stallion's front and nudged the hair from his face. "Got a little too carried away I see, hrm?"

Tempest had gotten annoyed enough with her sibling. When she heard him leave, a relieved sigh erupted from her nostrils. Finally! But then Tempest realized she'd be alone with her parents. As she was blind, her hearing was well...good enough. The mare quickly trotted to the fields in hopes of finding something to pacify her entertainment needs.

"Ya THAT ROOT REACHED OUT AND TRIPPED ME!" Tide eyed the tree warily. He crawled to his feet and shoo all the dust off his thick black coat.

He teetered over and leaned against the tree. "What did I ever do to you? eh?"
"Well love I think you won the tag game...or the tree did. Now that we are alone, for once, what would you like to do today? Besides debarking innocent trees."

Tide ran his teeth over his chest, cleaning fur and preening. The sky was a rich blue and as he was watching it a graceful white heron flew across. It was always a sign of good luck and he couldn't help but smile and point the large winged creature out to Kainda.

"Look lov, a white heron! They are good luck."

For the many times in her life, Kainda wondered about the sanity of her mate. She couldn't help but chuckle at his antics knowing that he partly did it for her amusement. "And you wonder why I use trees as sparring partners." The mare added in. At his question she gave a though. They had sparred much over the few days and nights. They even shared joint patrols now that the children were grown. Kainda wasn't one of the girls to just loaf around and do nothing. She wanted to be an active member of the herd while she still could.

Strange. It was still strange to think of herself as a herd to not only Dark Tide but to the rest of the Dark Family as well. She wondered about all those blankets in that tree and how many more might come to be after who knows how long. She stretched a little looking across the plains. "I say we visit your fish. We haven't had a lot of time to." True there were nights were they snuck away to embrace in their relationship, but it was never for very long and Kainda knew that her mate loved his fish hence his name Tide. Her tail flicked as she walked over to n** him on the ear as if to drag him away from the true. "Well love, let's not waste that good luck and your good looks." She teased him about his preening, but she hoped he knew of his underlying comment.

Kainda trotted on ahead keeping a leisure pace as she strolled. She was sure that Tide was to follow and with the children keeping things in order in the herd, she had no worries on her mind. Besides, she wanted some alone time with Dark Tide. They barely had a chance to converse and have fun with life. Being a responsible adult had never occurred to Kainda until she met Dark Tide. But change was good and she felt like a new mare with a new lease on life. She felt alive.

"Are you implying that my good looks have an expiration date?" he asked. "How can that be? I'm too pretty to loose them and unlike Ion I am not turning gray." he poked at her. "Of course you will always be beautiful." he smiled at her.

"A visit to the pond would be lovely. I would love a swim." He pranced off. Turning around he asked. "Are you coming? Hurry! Before the children get bored of whatever they are doing and come for the swim with us. You remember what happened last time? I'm still picking seaweed out of my mane."

"Your looks do have an expiration date. Mine, on the other hand, do not." The mare teased poking at her mate's ear. She giggled a little at his touch flicking her tail to slap at his back and neck. Oh he was being such a flirt! She laughed loving the way he looked at her with his mischievous eyes. Kainda felt as if a little of her old habits rubbed off on him.

She snorted flicking her tail a little. "Well you shouldn't have antagonized Kai. You know how competitive he gets." Kainda felt no sympathy from the last time her son and husband wrestled and played. Tide lost his footing and fell right into his pond. It was a wonder his poor fish weren't out of a home. As he sped ahead of her, she grunted and picked up the pace to catch up, her hooves moving with an elegance, mane and tail licking at the air as they flowed behind her.

Tide smiled at the resilliance and vitality of his mate. Having babies didn't phase her. Running around after himself and said babies, didn't phase her. Raising their kids to adulthood, didn't phase her.. he did wonder how they would both handle their children dating. Hmmm. Ahh crap. While his mind had been wandering, Kainda had very nearly passed him. He did a playful little buck in the air. It was wonderful to be alive and free. To stretch his legs and be able to watch his mate run.

Kainda slowed as they came closer to the forested glade. Many memories flashed through her mind as she stared at their little hollow. "This place..." The mare stopped short of the pond looking around. "We were mated here...and the foals were born here..." She turned back to Tide and gave a bit of a grin slipping closer to him as she rested her head against his back. "I never thought I'd be able to live like this and have a family...y'know?" Her red eyes looked up toward Dark Tide as she kept close to her stallion listening to his heartbeat. This life...was perfect.

"I never thought I would find someone who suited me as well as you, who filled my other half. Who loves me as I am flaws, failures and all. Someone who would be such a great mother and someone who I could spend easy quiet time with. Someone who can go toe to toe with me and our children and win."

He sighed in contentment. "My Kainda, praise be to the fates who brought us together."
PostPosted: Tue Mar 27, 2012 8:58 am

"Praise my anger and your stupid curiosity." Kainda teased reminiscing about their first time together. Her heart fluttered at the sweet words of praise he said to her. Kainda often felt strange when he said these things, but it became so common place that she allowed the feeling of pride and appreciate to sink in. He still made her all giddy inside like a filly when he spoke to her with such tones. She nudged his cheek gently giving a bit of a huff before teasingly biting his ear.

"I think I want those foals now." She whispered gently brushing her velvet nose against his ear and down his neckline until she was back snuggled closer to him, her eyes half lidded in a devious smile. Kainda slipped away from him to n** his nose before trotting off into the glade. "But let's see if you do." She laughed playing her little hide and seek game with her beloved mate.

"Hey! That ear is attatched and well you know it!"
He blinked at her next words and brushed his neck against her while she cuddled him. His fiery, saucy Kainda. "Hey com back here love! Good luck finding a leaf big enough to hide your sexy orange form from me!" he yelled into the glade. "Brat." He muttered as she disappeared from his sight. Tide poked through the edge of the trees. His ears swiveled this way and that looking for the slightest noises.. twigs snapping, a leaf rustling and giggle even. His green eyes narrowed but could pick up no orange so far.

Parts of the bush that he stepped through was a little tight for his tall frame and a few branches caught at his long black mane. Bah. Like twigs were going to stop him now. His nostrils flared as he inhaled, searching for his mates unique scent. The scent of rain on wind and sweet clover. Hmmmm. "You are close! You better not be in the tree above me about to pounce my love." He glanced up warily. Nope she wasn't up there, although he wouldn't put it past her to land on him from a great height. He shook out his mane and a few of its twiggy captors snapped of and stuck there.

A faint sound came to him, it could have been a bird alighting on a branch or a meaningful nudge of the wind on branches but he thought not, she was here and she was near and she had to be one of the best hide and seek players he knew. He still could not make out her orange pelt in here.
