Female l 5 feet l demon - kitsune

It had been days since the last time she saw him, and Reine was still unable to get rid of the mental image of those puppydog eyes staring at her sadly. Spencer, she kept reminding herself. Remember Spencer, he looked cute, but he must have been some kind of monster, or Caelius wouldn't have ordered her and Eva to suppress him.

The difference was that Spencer had been a complete stranger, and Thackery- he'd protected her, kept her safe, sworn to be her friend. It wasn't something she could just push away without a thought- or something she could push away at all, considering the amount of thinking she'd done since then. They were the enemy, all of them. They hurt people, they scared people, and she knew that not just from stories, but from first-hand experiences.

So why... why was Thackery different? She could treat him as an anomaly, like she intended. Maybe some sort of failure of a monster, one that reacted the wrong way to humans. After all, there had been a smaller boy, in that forest, practically a child, though with ears and a tail similar to Thackery's, who'd attacked Eva with no hesitation. So maybe it was just him- he could be her exception. But she needed to know, for sure, and there was no better person to talk to about it than Thackery himself.

With these thoughts swirling around in her head, Reine found herself in the pod room, her hand resting on one of the pod covers. She had no duties scheduled for the rest of the day, not that she knew of- it was likely no one would miss her, or even notice she was gone. That was fine. She had no intentions of spending more time than she needed to in that strange world, save when missions were involved.

This golem was male- she was rather acutely aware of that, but it didn't look too different from the previous one. Reine spent a few minutes looking around at her surroundings, and examining herself- for better or worse, the golem looked somewhat effeminate, anyway, which excused her voice somewhat. It was only when the life trainee decided to move away that she realised she'd come to Halloween without any definite plan of action, and that bothered her. Frowning, she paced in circles for a while. First, find Thackery- but where? She had met him at the mall the last time, but she couldn't count on him being there again. Briefly she recalled him mentioning school dorms- perhaps she could start there.

Taking a deep breath, Reine started off towards the school. It only took a few minutes and some awkward questioning before she found herself at his dorm room. Tentatively she raised her hand to knock on his door, then immediately drew back a few steps.

Maybe he wasn't in. She was already starting to regret this whole thing a little.
