So, as promised, I have decided to post what I have read from this month's issue of game Informer, and in all honesty I can say that it only reinforces what I have felt will become a strong entry in the series. From the very start there is talk of venturing into an old mine shaft called The Devil's Pit. This mine, before some complain, does not refer to or mimic the mines from the movie at all. It is described as a place full of pitch black moments where all you can see is darkness unless you flick your lighter (a very realistic approach in my opinion).

It also discussed how several of the creatures were introduced to the gameplay organically rather than through cutscenes.... some monsters include (per their descriptions) "a gangly, pinkish creature crouches over a corpse taking in its fill of flesh", "a shirtless beast man with claws and a demented face, think of a botched weapon X experiement with homicidal tendencies", and "shrieking banshee ladies".

They mention the fighting is very neat and useable. It's nothing like some of the clunky combat of the first game, and the concept of weapon durability adds an almost too real effect to the game and its fear components. When your character takes damage it is displayed as blood stains and a progressive limp.

But the biggest reward, I feel, that all of us here can enjoy and appreciate.... this game returns the streets of silent hill to their former glory from games gone past, the puzzles have returned, and the aimless wandering in circles looking for the right thing to do is back in business..... Oh the sweet nostalgia.... crying

Yaaaaaay!!! I'm excited for this now! I just paid off the HD collection and I'm almost finished with this one. Cant wait
