He had run out of ink, yesterday. Really, it seemed like his mind had been all over the place since he'd grown, like he'd been unable to truly focus on sorely one thing, like if there was too much energy within him to let him do that.
Maybe his uncle was contagious, or maybe it was just Ankou felt every day ? How... strange.
Still, it seemed like this was now his responsibility - well, maybe his servants' if one was technical, but Lament did not mind doing his own errands. It helped him keep close to mortals, helped him see if he might be needed anywhere.
So that was how Akakios had ended up at the market today. Now where had the man who sold ink put up stand today... ?

Rio had been going to the market more and more in the past few months, rather than letting his servants do so for him. He liked the crowds of people, and wandering from stall to stall to see the ever-growing array of things the vendors had to offer. Nashwa teased him that they should leave the errand-running to him, because he took too long and always came back with far more than what they actually needed. Regardless, they 'indulged' him and let him do it, while holding back from the list anything they needed in a timely fashion so that they could fetch it themselves. He knew they did it, but didn't mind, and pretended not to notice.
As he wandered, he caught a glimpse of purple hair, and paused and turned to look more closely. Ah-ha. He placed the young god quickly, and grinned. "Kios!"

Someone calling his name hadn't been what he'd been expecting, as the mortals did not seem to quite place him - but he did stop and look back, and then it made sense.
"Rio !" He turned more fully, waiting for his uncle to catch up. They hadn't seen each other in forever, it seemed.

Once he'd caught up, Rio drew his nephew into a hug, then drew back to look him over.
"Adi told me you'd grown. I see she didn't exaggerate." His daughter had been right, of course, and Lament had grown into a handsome young man, and the markings on his face were indeed striking and lovely.

Akakios did allow himself to be hugged, through it was obvious he wasn't quite as touchy-feely as his mother was. At least he wasn't skittering away from most touch like his father would have done.
"I guess news spread fast, uh." Well, it could be beneficial. He was starting to get a little tired of having to explain things to nearly everyone. "How have you been ?" He asked.

"There isn't much Adi knows that I don't within a day or so," he explained, chuckling. His daughter liked to talk about as much as she liked plants, which was saying something.
"I've been...well enough." There was hesitation there, a thinly-veiled 'it's complicated.' He elaborated a little, at least on one element, "Adi's gone on a trip with her friend, Elik."
"And you? How have you been?"

"Oh ?" He peeked sideways then, from under his veil, curious. Who was this Elik ?
"It's been... Well. A lot of things happened very quickly, obviously. I am still getting used to many of them... And it's hard to sit still when I feel like I am just... filled to the brim with energy and I have no idea what to do with it."
Or even what it was, really.

"He's a druid, and he's taking her to visit his people," Love explained briefly, before chuckling softly at Kios' admission that he was filled with energy he didn't know what to do with. "I would guess that's one of two things: having more power, or adolescence. Or both."

"I see... I hope she learns a lot from it, then." He knew of Adrienne's want to become an aoide to Glyph, and to serve the best she could. That was probably part of it.
"So... That is normal then ?" He asked, sheepish. Really, none of the reborn had been children in this life. Merging wasn't quite the same, he thought. And, try as he might, he couldn't find any of the others like him to see if they had the same kind of experiences. He could not find Caolan, whom he had heard from his father, or Una, who was Water's child.

"She'll have plenty of stories to tell you when she gets back, I'm sure."
"I'm no expert, but it seems like the most logical explanation. I can imagine it would seem strange, especially coming all at once. For mortals, it's spread out over years, and it's still awkward...and usually without any powers to complicate things." Rio rubbed the back of his neck, thinking. "It might help to find ways to keep yourself occupied, burn some of it off, if it's bothering you."

"Oh, I am trying." And well, mostly coming short, it seemed. But really, he wasn't sure how comfortable he was talking about it in greater detail in as public setting.
"I ran out of ink, through, and I can't find the merchant mother usually gets it from..."

"Ink?" Rio tilted his head slightly. "I think I saw some, hmm...over there, I think it was?" He pointed in the direction he seemed to remember it having been in.
As for being a public setting, well, Rio tended not to be fussed about that when it came to most things. "Have you considered more...active activities?"
He mostly wasn't implying anything, honest. There were lots of perfectly 'appropriate' physical activities to which he could be referring! Not that he was completely excluding the rest, though.

"Oh, yes, that's it !" He headed toward that direction, content that he'd finally found what he'd been looking for.
Really, it was a good thing that Lament wouldn't have gotten the undertone even if there had been one - in a way, his innocence remained more or less intact, in spite of his physical age. "Maybe that would help..." He mused.

"I'd suggest you play with Adi, but it'll probably be a couple of weeks before she's back. Yours siblings, maybe?" Rio trailed along after the younger god. "It could be that using your powers could help, too. You'll have to try things and see what works."

The idea of using his powers... Well, it did make the younger god just barely repress a wince. Really, it was using his power that... Well. He couldn't really complain about it, since it was how he'd ended up like this. But it had hurt, and, mostly, it had been scary as all hell. What if he lost control, and couldn't contain himself again.
He could not avoid it forever, he knew, and he also knew the fear seemed rather illogical. Still...
"Maybe that would work." He finally answered, hoping beyond all hope that Rio hadn't noticed his reaction.
