The night would be a cold one, colder than usual for this time of year. If Jove was capable of generating any warmth at all his breath would appear in sporadic clouds in front of his face. And yet the pup wandered through the woods, clothed only in a white, long-sleeved nightshirt that fell to his knees. He looked every part the ghost as he wandered soundlessly across campus.

His brother might have thrown a fit, knowing he was out there in such cold night and not snuggled warmly in bed with his foxfires, but Jove hadn't been sleeping much recently. Too many dreams of his little wisps dissolving, or being chased and caught by hunters. Sometimes it was his friends being chased, or trapped. Sometimes they were all sliced open by knives.

Strangely enough, it was never himself who was the victim in these dreams. He always just looked on, helpless to do anything about it.

Deep in thought, the boil paid little attention to where his pale feet took him. Had he not lived there for a year now it might have been a very good way to get himself lost.

There was one thing King missed more than he thought he would. The snow. He missed the cold frozen water that was soft yet firm. He missed being able to bury himself and sleep out under the stars and moon. At the very least, he could take comfort in the fact the moon was just as pale, and just as bright even this far from his home.

He'd gone out late for a run, to stretch his paws in his 'human' form. It was something he'd have to get used to, staying in human form as opposed to his natural form. Shifting was not his species typeset. No, he would rather be snuggled up in a cold snowdrift and- Ears flicked over, the sound of cloth in the air faint but present. It was- another ghost boil. Dressed less than well for this type of weather. Perhaps he was also a more cold type of specter? Going over, king waved at him, hoping to get his attention. The boil had ears and a tail too- the spirit of a beast? "Pardon but, are you alright?" Concern only present due to the fact that... he didn't look to be going anywhere.

At all.

A single fluffy ear twitched and turned to listen to the stranger approach, Jove's full attention following a split second later to catch the wave. Had he been that deep in thought, to not hear the student approaching this far? What if it had been...

If the stranger had been paying close attention, he might have seen the hair on the pup's neck rise ever so slightly as he sniffed the air, searching for signs that this was only a shell of a human. But it wasn't the odd-artificial sent that hit his nose, it was a wave of mint, and the crispness of a true winter's day.

He looked up at the student who approached, his nerves settling somewhat. Almost the sheer opposite of his friend Tybalt, this boil was pale and white, with red eyes instead of blue. But similar wolfish ears, a fluffy wolfish tail... Jove stared a little longer than strictly necessary, his manners lapsing slightly while he examined his polite company. He couldn't place the clothing, but it reminded him of Junko in a way. Was this a new student?

Jove suddenly realized how he must have looked to the stranger, bare-foot in the cold grass, icy pre-frost dew decorating his little ankles, wearing his bedclothes. Like a lost, frozen child. He nodded blankly, he was okay. He just had things to think about is all, nothing concern oneself over.

As the boy sniffed the air, King followed suit. Nothing wrong was in the wind, just the scent of a cold night and- ah. A lack of scent. Bowing King smiled. "I should have introduced myself. I am Frost in the Storm, though some call me King." Tail and ears gave a quick flick as he heard bugs moving in the distance. Well, that was better than some bug he was used to. Though King would be hesitant to admit it... It was nice to see a fellow doggish ghost boil.

Another sniff in the air as he got closer. "You're not a monster, and you don't smell of... anything. Are you more a spirit like myself?" He was hesitant to use 'ghost' as then... not everyone came from the human realm. Turning his head as he noticed the dew a snort coming out. "No matter. But, wandering without protection from the elements is a fool's choice..." But- "I can offer you my shoes if you like, or at least the top layer of my kimono. Both would be a bit big but, tis something no?"

Frost in the Storm... It was definitely a very apt name. Judging by the other's state of dress he was similarly unbothered by the cold, or naturally used to this weather, and when it snowed.. Well, Jove had only seen snow once or twice in his short life, but he imagined King would simply vanish into a storm of it.

Jove clasped his hands, delicate fingers getting lost in the long shirt sleeves as he nodded slowly. A ghost was a sort of spirit, wasn't it? And then a quicker shake of the head as the taller boil continued with the questions. No, he was okay! Really, he didn't need shoes, or whatever a kimono was. It must have been clothing, he had heard Tomoko mention it once before. Maybe.

The little pup had yet to give his own name, but with so much on his mind, his manners were not very high on the list. Besides, the questions had distracted him already.

A soft smile. "Not very talkative? It's alright." Placing the shoes back on his feet, King sniffed the air again. The scent of the lake not far off was rolling with the wind. The scent of algae and freshwater fish was not a pleasant smell to him, but, it was better than the scent of smoke and fire. "The night is a good one for a walk but you seemed to go in no direction. A wandering man with no purpose is prone to make himself lost." He chuckled.
"I am not one for proverbs, and I doubt you'd get lost on the school grounds for very long but-" his tail swished back and forth slightly. "I would walk with you if you would have me. It is a good night, and I can use the air's chill."

Jove's ears turned forward, and he watched with big, glowing eyes focused on the other canine. Yes, he was sure this one was a canine now, there was just something wolf-like about him. The pup was so lost in his musing he completely forgot to take offence with the getting lost comments. This school had been his home for the past year, he couldn't get lost on it's grounds...

But the stranger had shown some concern, expressed in a kind, yet not patronizing manner, and that stuck with Jove more than the words themselves. Finally he nodded slowly once more, and turned to wander into the woods.

He was a wisp, of course he would lead followers into the deeper darkness...

Wolflike would be true, though it was not glaring obvious. Following the fellow canine ghost, King looked around, admiring the night. It was times like this when the night was it's most calm he felt he could be at peace. It didn't really concern King that he was venturing into the woods, he'd be concerned if he was totally blinded or his ability to scent was gone. Then?

Then he might have a panic attack.

Though feet touched the ground he was silent except for the soft movement of cloth. Human forms were very... ungainly in such a way, needing clothes. "Tell me." He looked around, spying a wild corrividus in the branches, red eyes gleaming in the faint light. Would it bother you if I assumed my natural form? I am not overly large for a white wolfos, but... this bi-pedial form is... taking some getting used to."

Jove's ears perked, and he glanced over his shoulder to shake his head. He didn't mind at all, and would even share the sentiment if his natural form wasn't the size of a bruteball and outweighed by one five times over. For that reason the pup could have been suspicious, but over the past year hadn't his fears shifted from the FEARful to more human sources?

The little ghost's eyes glowed brightly, but there was little expression in them as he watched King a little longer. All of a sudden it looked like a thought occurred to the pup. He whirled back around to face forward, blushing enough that even the tips of his fluffy ears lit up slightly. If nothing else, the thought that King might want to remove his clothing before shifting brought some emotion to the little ghost's face.

King smiled, bowing slightly. "Thank you, one moment." Clothing didn't matter to King as his shift was rather easy. A bit awkward but- the shift had him on all four paws again, and there wasn't any clothing in sight. It would return when he shifted back but until then he was comfortable in his own fur. Shaking, his tail puffed out, a small dusting on snow coming off of him. It happened sometimes.

"Much better." Moving back to Jove's side, King's voice was rougher, deeper as well. "Now where are we off to? Or is this just a casual stroll?" His grin was perhaps a bit unsettling, a mouthful of fangs combined with bright red eyes.

Once he heard the soft sound of a four-footed gait, Jove turned and glanced back. Such heavy fur, and that size! The pup was envious, his own larger form was not so large, or white and pristine, and his fur, although thick, wisped out and made him look overly fluffy. King's fur just made him look impressive.

He reached out to catch a snowflake, ears perking forward as he examined it. The ice didn't melt on his hand, he was also a cold being at the moment.

To his credit, the pup didn't shy away from the bright eyes and sharp teeth. Where were they off to? Jove didn't know, so he just started walking deeper into the woods.

Another shake, and another tiny cloud of cold. Though the other ghost said nothing King walked next to him, ears flicking on occasion to hear the sounds of the woods. "You don't really speak do you?" He asked, hoping he was not actually annoying. "Though, I might be speaking much in comparison." A grumble, and he stopped looking to the side.

Why didn't this place have any snow hares?

Jove's ears turned in a similar manner as they walked in silence, picking up the minute sounds of the night forest. They perked when King began to speak again. Another silent headshake from Jove, after a second of thought. No, he wasn't even talkative in the best of times, and tonight he couldn't even be bothered to put on a scowl over the other ghost's observations.

But King had no reason to worry about being too talkative for Jove's taste, so the head shake could be taken two ways.

The pup's nose lifted as he scented the air, and then suddenly veered in a different direction. He picked up his pace, and trotted a ways deeper into the underbrush before coming to a stop. In front of some pale white mushrooms radiating a soft green glow.

The look he gave the bigger canine might have said "This is interesting, yes?"

The sudden scenting of the air made King follow suit. Was their something in the wind? There was nothing really outstanding he thought, just the scent of the woods. Nothing unnatural or- Jove veered off, and King picked up his paws to match the pace. "Something amiss?" he asked, perplexed. He'd not noticed anything.

Under the growth of other however- "Mushrooms?" He cocked his head, going over to give them an experimental sniff, which resulted in him needing to turn away as a sneeze over came him. "Sorry- Hm, I've never seen ones like these before." laying down to get eye level with them, his tail bushed the earth. "Are they edible?"

Jove crouched down too, his little feet nearly disappearing under the hem of his long nightshirt. He hugged his knees and stared at the glowing fungi for a couple seconds. These were particularly healthy. Must have been good soil... Or something had died in the area.

He jumped as King sneezed, falling over onto his behind, and giving the bigger canine a thorough stare. Every time. Every single time, those sneezes would make him startle. Finally he shook his head. Not edible, just... glowing. Bright and peaceful, the natural frightlights of the forest.

He scrambled back to his feet and brushed the dead leaves and dirt off his nightshirt, and wandered a few feet farther before pulling at another small tuft of pale mushrooms. These ones had been mostly hidden by the forest detritus, but Jove had found them without difficulty and plucked them effortlessly. Then he offered them to King. Clearly he had taken the other student's question to mean it was time to eat mushrooms.
