The summit. The top of the mountain that others commonly visit to watch the stars and relax. It has the perfect view to see all of the Land of Departure. It also has enough room to spare as well.

He'd never admit it, but Riku was hiding. Not just sort of hiding on the summit because no one else is there sort of hiding. Hiding as in hidden behind a wall you wouldn't see him when you first got up there sort of hiding. Now, it may seem ridiculous someone such as Riku, who had faced countless heartless and nobodies, to be hiding from people who would be on his side, but frankly he did know how to deal with these people who were showing up. Most of them just lost everything, were completely confused, and may even lash out. When he first saw the outside worlds he had been the enemy of these sort of people, and when he finally straightened himself out, he only revealed himself when it was a must.

If he were to be honest, he was just the slightest bit afraid. Afraid of what sort of impression he'd make. Afraid that they may resent him if they were to learn of what he had done. Afraid that he already knew them, and had done them wrong. So there he was, crouched behind the furtherest wall from the moutain path. His ears strained for any sound that may indicate someone's approach.

No one could hide forever.. Sano proved this once he peeked around the wall Riku was hiding by. He chuckled a bit as he looked at the scene. "I had a feeling I would find you here, Riku.. I thought it was strange when you suddenly took off after someone appeared in the Forecourt. What is weighing down on your mind?" He asked as he slipped around to sit next to the troubled young man. Sano was always willing to lend an ear when people needed one. After all, everyone has had at least one moment where they wished someone was there to listen. He had heard about some of Riku's past so he wasn't all that surprised that he decided to hide instead of face other people.

".. Go ahead and tell me what's on your mind. Believe me when I say it will help you a lot more than hiding behind a wall." The leader said with a small smile, hoping he could get Riku to relax and be a bit more open.. He did need his help with a certain person and if the white haired man was too busy hiding then things could get.. complicated.

The teen had tensed the moment he heard footsteps on the summit. He silently prayed they wouldn't near his hiding place, but it seemed his prayers meant nothing at the person drew ever closer. He looked up to see it was only Sano. He barely knew him really, but at least it wasn't a complete stranger.

He felt rather embarrassed that Sano seemed to be able to read him like an open book, but also because he had been caught hiding like a small child. He said nothing as the older man sat next to him, reluctant to share his thoughts. He could help but let out a small chuckle when the other commented it would make him feel better to share rather than hide behind the wall.
"Yeah, I suppose you're right," Riku fell silent again as he tried to figure out how to explain it without seeming, for a lacking of a better word, stupid. He decided it would be best to put it the simplest way possible. "I'm just worried I'm going to make the wrong impression," He said, clearly feeling uncomfortable about it. He then added the next part more to himself than to Sano. "Or that I already made one..."

At first Sano thought that Riku wasn't going to say much. Though the leader was happy that the boy did share a little about his troubles. "That is a common worry for everyone. Making the wrong or right impression. Even I still worry about that.." He said, starting to try and make Riku feel better. The man had worries of his own. Would he make a good leader? Do people trust him? Is he strong enough to protect them? He glanced over at the boy before speaking again. He could tell there was a little more weighing him down.

".. You're worrying about something that might happen. A possibility. If you don't take a chance then your worry will become reality.. You certainly left a good impression on me when you decided to come and help. So far so good. So why let worry slow you down?" Sano said, a small chuckle passing his lips after he was done speaking, a warm smile on his face. He stood up and dusted himself off before looking at Riku once again.

Riku quietly listened to Sano's attempts to encourage him. He couldn't help but feel stupid. He knew he couldn't avoid them forever, but he certainly didn't want to face them just yet either. Hell what would he even do? He wasn't just going to stand there being useless... though he wasn't being very useful now.

Somewhat reluctantly he got to his feet.
"Is there anything I could do to help?" Riku asked, trying to hide his nerves. He felt a little lost within their organization, not quite sure where exactly he fit into the equation. Sano was the leader, Colm was the instructor, so what did that make him?

"There is something you can do, Riku.. You, Sora, and Kairi are experienced Keyblade Wielders. We are having people appear here who have not the slightest clue how to use them. I can't send them out to investigate worlds as they are, it would be like sending them against a dragon with only a wooden sword to defend themselves with. Right now I only have Colm and Shay to help them. You and the others can help as well, if you feel up to it.. Though for you there is one person that I think needs your help the most. She arrived a few hours ago but I met her a few months ago as well.. There is great darkness in her heart, I was able to lock it away when it was about to consume her. Though she fled shortly after.. I'm not asking you to teach her how to use Darkness or anything of the sort. I think you have the best chance of getting her to trust us since there is that common.. element. I wish I could help her but I have a lot of weight on my shoulders.. If you don't wish to do so then I understand. I will not force you into something you don't wish to be a part of."

Sano explained the best he could but left out an important detail that he was afraid to share.. It was exactly what he saw happening to Nix that he needed to keep quiet about. He truly had a lot on his plate, keeping track of several worlds, taking many missions in trying to keep people safe, and so on. Now that he thought about it he was on his way to tell someone something important.. "Oh! I forgot to tell Rufio that he gets a mission today.. Must've slipped my mind as I was taking a walk."

Riku listened to Sano's explaination. He wasn't sure how useful he'd be in training them how to fight, concidering his unique (and somewhat awkward) fighting style. Not to mention his ever changing non standard use of magic. But when Sano mentioned a girl with a common 'element' as he put it, that caught his attention. "What's her name?" He wondered what happened to the girl to cause her to have such a darkness in her heart. It wasn't any of his business, and he didn't expect Sano to know, but having that information could be useful in helping her. He just hoped it wouldn't cause too much trouble.

Sano smiled when he heard Riku ask for the girl's name. It was a sign that he was now willing to help. "Her name is Nix.. Silver hair, blue-gray eyes, markings on her arm and under her eye. Can't miss her and yet she's managed to hide around here so far.. All I can tell you is that I know she didn't put that darkness in her heart herself. Something happened to her." He said and stopped as a small pained look came to his face. It was as if mentioning that fact brought him pain. The man shook it off and forced a small smile. "Please do what you can.. Don't give up and keep strong."

Sano gave Riku a nod, confident that he would be able to help. Even if Riku didbt believe in himself. So the leader turned and walked down the path to find Rufio.

Nix, that was an easy name to remember. The description was simple, yet distinct. There was a slim chance he'd mix it up. He simply nodded when he explained the darkness in her heart was not her own. That was a bit alarming, to think something like that happened to someone. Could it happen again? The expression on Sano's face gave Riku the impression that there were thoughts unspoken. He chose not to pry, and simply allowed the older man to leave. He wondered for a moment if he was really up for it. Riku knew things would probably had been different if someone had been there to guide him. Then and there he made a promise to himself he'd to his best. With that new vow fresh in his mind, he left in the same direction as Sano.

"No matter how dark it gets, I know I'm not alone."

━ ═ ═ ━

As soon as Johnny reached the Summit, he looked around for a moment before walking over to a nearby bench and sitting on it. He quickly buried his face in his hands and sighed loudly, trying to assemble all of his thoughts together so he could make sense of everything. Father? Mother? If you were here, how would you guide me? Would you know what to do? What to say? I feel like this is all some mistake. I wasn't meant for something as big as this. I couldn't even protect those four kids from a bunch of Heartless. Now there's these things called Nobodies and a group of evildoers out there we're supposed to protect people from? I don't think I can do that. Those poor children keep running through my mind. I loved watching them play, and seeing them with their families...it reminded me of my time with you two.

As he thought to himself, Johnny wiped his eyes, trying to fight off the tears he knew were coming. "I didn't think I would end up losing them too. Even if we never spoke, I had to fight for them. And now they're probably gone too, just like you." Looking up into the sky, he just let the tears stream down his face. "Why is this happening again? I know I can't let those Heartless have their way, but...I let those kids down. I let...them down. Just the same way I couldn't help either of you..." Leaning forward again, he closed his eyes and shook his head a few times. I wish all the answers were easy to come by. I really do. If...if I could get stronger here, maybe I could help people. I just don't know.

Nix headed to the Summit, now not having anyone getting in her way of it. Though she wasn't expecting to see Johnny there, by the looks of it he was troubled by something. He was crying about losing people to the Heartless and talking to himself.. So she walked over to stand away from the crying boy, looking out over the cliff. ".. People get taken by the Heartless all the time.. You can't save every person you see.. It's best you learn that now." The girl said, not even looking at Johnny as she said this. She learned long ago that it was best not to expect someone to come rushing to save you or think that everyone could be saved..

"No matter how dark it gets, I know I'm not alone."

━ ═ ═ ━

Johnny moaned when he heard somebody talking to him. The young man quickly wiped his face with the sleeves of his jacket and began to laugh. The things she had said came off as actually kind of amusing to him. "Wow Lady, you sure have some way of comforting people. No hugs, no pat on the back, you're blunt and right to the point. I'm honestly not sure how to feel about all that, but at least that was funny. Thank you." Leaning back, he looked her over and smiled kindly at her. "My name's Johnny miss. Would you care to tell me yours?"

With a shrug, he rose off the bench and walked over to stand beside her, looking out over everything in the Land of Departure. "As for why I'm so upset...it's not so much the fact that I couldn't save them as it's the fact that they were just children. I cared for them just as I did my parents. They died, and now I don't know the fate of the children. It feels like I'm meant to just lose everything. I honestly don't know what the hell is going on and I don't know why a person like me is even here. I'm not exactly the most confident person, especially when it comes to getting a girlfriend..."

Realizing what he had just said, Johnny quickly flushed and rushed over to the bench again. Sadly, instead of sitting on it, he feebly attempted to hide behind it. Even the young man knew it was a foolish attempt, but it was all he could think of to do at the time. "I-I'm not trying to pick you up miss! I was just...just making conversation, that's all! I'm...I'm just confused. Please don't take what I said the wrong way! You seem nice and all, but something tells me you'd prefer to kick my a** if I even tried hitting on you."

Johnny was feeling even more nervous as his face turned even redder. "Umm, point is, I don't feel like I deserve to be here. The voice told me I should stay strong and have faith in myself and all that, but y'know what? It's not that easy for me to do. I fought that behemoth all right, but out here in the real world...I just don't know. I'm nervous and I don't even know how to talk to some of these people. That leader of yours dropped a serious bombshell on us new recruits y'know? I just want to know if those children made it off world somehow..."

Sighing, Johnny rose from behind the bench and shuffled his feet. "So, umm, how long have you been here? Did you just arrive too or have you been here a while? I barely even noticed you back there. You were hiding the same way I was when I first got here, but probably not for the same reasons right? I burned...my pants off. It was the most embarrassing thing, but something tells me that until I learn how to control this Fire spell I have that I might end up making all kinds of mistakes like that. Like right now I could probably set my hair on fire or blow up this bench or something. I don't know what to expect. I don't even know if I'm all that adept at using this keyblade thing just yet. I still wonder why it's called Heartbreaker." Tilting his head lightly to the side, he summoned his keyblade into his hands and looked it over curiously. "The handle, umm, area is in the shape of a heart. It's a pretty nice weapon and it certainly looks pretty. But I'm no heart breaker. I can't pick up women like those other guys. Ugh, those other guys just use women." Johnny groaned and shook his head. "I hated those other guys at work. Talking about all the women they could pick up and how many they could 'bang'...ugh! Women are worthy of respect too dang nammit! I would never treat one the way those idiots did. I'm glad they're gone! I know it's a horrible thing to say, but it's the truth! I bet they hurt a lot of women and it's just not right." Johnny didn't even realize how badly he was rambling. He just kept talking and talking and talking, and it didn't seem like he was going to shut up anytime soon. Maybe this was part of what the nervous side of Johnny was like?

Nix listened to Johnny and started to get annoyed once again. He was rambling on and complaining about several things. ".. If all you're going to do is complain then let me tell you something. People die. They get killed by the Heartless all the time no matter what. The Heartless don't care if you are man, woman, child, or old.. If you have a heart they will try to take it. They don't care if you are kind or not either." She said, still appearing cold like always but she was telling the truth.. And she wasn't done yet either. "As for your Keyblade.. Don't look into it so much. They are reflections of the heart and if you put too much thought into it then it won't make any sense."

Nix stopped to glance over at Johnny, a small frown on her face. " .. I got here a few hours ago. My name is Nix, just Nix.. Also.. As long as you keep your hands to yourself and stay out of my space I won't be hurting you anytime soon.. Plus it's because of this damn marking under my eye that I look.. intimidating."

Johnny stopped rambling when Nix began talking. He listened to her and couldn't help but smile. Without a word, he walked over to stand beside her again and nodded quietly. After a moment, he closed his eyes and began speaking again. "Well Nix, I must inform you that you don't appear intimidating to me. I just get really nervous sometimes, and I'm not very good with girls so I don't want to end up insulting you or anything on accident. I actually think you're pretty cute." Opening one eye, he glanced over at her and smiled politely.

Closing his eye again, he nodded again, smiling wider. "As for what you've said...I can say that I understand it now. So, thank you Nix. I believe I'll put this blade to good use and use it to protect all those out there without the power to protect themselves from the Heartless and the Nobodies. I'll fight to keep them safe...and you as well okay? Whether or not you think so, I think you're going to be a great friend. You actually seem pretty wise, and I'd love to chat with you more often." Opening his eyes, he looked down at the people below who were still in the Forecourt. "It does seem like some people here could use a little protection. I'm going to master this keyblade and master whatever magic I learn and do whatever I can. You helped me make up my mind about that. How about you Nix? What's your story? What are you going to do?"
